As a drummer, this was my favorite Van Halen song since the first day it came out. Don't recall this song getting much/any airplay. Still one of my favorites, still drumming.
Entire Album did not get much play ..........May 1981 Fair Warning Tour started in Halifax ............Nova Scotia Canada .........memories VH Best Tour
One of my beat friends moved from california to Arkansas around 79. He said he saw van Halen at backyard keg parties before that first album. LUCKY BASTARD!
It's nice to find someone reacting who isn't "acting" like a complete moron. SUBBED! Fantastic variety of music. I look forward to watching your journey into my past.
@@WILBURNREACTIONS Understandable. Easiest way to tell is at the 3:10 point of your vid, Eddie and Mike are singing backup but there's no mic. Also, DLR moves away from the mic and dances but he's still singing in the audio. Like you said, great performance in any case.
I really like your approach to breaking down a video. Comprehensive and thoughtful. Nice job. I think the two most influential electric guitarists ever were Jimi Hendrix and Eddie VanHalen. They didn't just play they reimagined what an electric guitar could do. Every electric guitarist since owes something to each of these musicians.
Unfortunately, it was a "kind of" live performance. By "kind of", I mean lip-syncing as many shows from that time-period tended to do. So, people actually saw them live ... they just didn't actually get to see them sing and play their instruments live.
They recorded their albums old school on 8 tracks so most of it is live. Their producer Ted Templeman was a genius but these guys were a road band for many years and knew their songs inside out.
yep, it's the studio version over a lipsync, but this song can't be performed live without a 2nd guitar. at least it gives the younger generation a chance to hear the song done right, while seeing the band's stage act at the same time. it's like watching bunraku theater --- you can clearly see the puppeteer, but you suspend your disbelief and focus on the doll.
First clue is that nobody is plugged in. No wireless, no drum mics, no nothing. Second clue is 2 guitars heard but only one guitarist playing. Eddie is good but he's not THAT good. ;-)
Hi...Helene here: Yeah....your channel is growing fast....because you don’t interrupt the music, your reactions are thoughtful and honest.....AND your subs are leading you very well in their suggestions of bands and songs....I’ve actually been amazed at the quality of music you’ve been covering.....or maybe its’ just because our tastes in music gibe. 😁
Thank you so much never seen this video ...1981 Fair Warning Tour was Legit one of the Best ever May 1981 Halifax was the 1st date Nova Scotia Canada .............5 stars
This is one of my favorite Van Halen songs! Yeah...they fuckin rocked! I wish it was actually the live version tho! Great song! Great reaction as always! Can you please react to my favorite band Alter Bridge "Blackbird"-Live in Amsterdam 2008 Alter Bridge is just simply amazing! I think that you will really dig them! Thank you very much my friend! Til the next 1☮ Stay safe! 💥💯🖤🎼🤘 RIP EVH
@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 Very cool! Yes...Alter Bridge is really amazingly talented! Incredible music & Myles Kennedy's voice is phenomenal! Thank you!🙂🤘 I hope you listen to more! They don't have a bad song...seriously! I would suggest starting with their 1st album & just going all the way thru their catalog! You will not regret it my friend! 💥💯🖤🆎️🎼🤘
Great reaction... fun fact...by the time I was 12 I had been in no less the 12 fights, bloody lips, noses even a few teeth lost. Ah the 70's being in an all white small town ....good times.
@@CP-kb1du lol, well those guys weren't two-hand tapping...that's for damn sure! EVH was doing things in the 1970's that nobody was doing, and he was light years ahead of everyone for more than 2 generations. Some of his things haven't even been duplicated today. EVERYONE wanted his sound and his guitar too.
Loving the strips on this video. Congratulations on hitting 6K. I'm noticing that people are starting to request songs you have already reacted to. I'm glad that I was a subscriber close to the beginning and know more of less what you have reacted to.
@@WILBURNREACTIONS You are welcome. But the credit goes out to you, because I enjoy how you react. There are some songs that I have heard a lot of times and you bring up new things that I didn't noticed before and I listen to them in a new light. I also like how you dig deeper into groups you like. There are some songs I haven't before.
After Jim Morrison David Lee Roth was the best front man ever. I saw Roth in 1985 on the "Eat Um and Smile" tour, his first full length solo album. It is a brilliant record with Dave's crazy sense of showmanship and humor in the videos made for the album.
Nice reaction... to your point, doesn't everybody that appreciates these things like Alexs' snare sound? reminiscent of the one they all bow to...Bonzo.
I hate this video so much but it is my favorite song. They were lipsyncing. And didn’t care about doing it well. Bass and drums on this track are so dope.
A good song, but I would love a reaction to track#2 instead. For those such as myself that love their music for years if not decades, PLEASE react to (and pause as necessary) Dirty Movies.
Not live. Music video, as others have stated. But such as awesome song nonetheless. This is one of my favorite albums from the Roth era of Van Halen. Do try to react to the other singers too. Eddie only evolves.
Not actually a live performance....they were asked to lip/play sinc over the studio version on a tv show and were not very happy about it, if I remember correctly......but the song is great, as is the whole album.
Van Halen w/ David Lee Roth will always be how I remember this band. Sammy Hagar had established his own sound before Van Halen and was climbing before he replaced Roth, and I was shocked he gave it up to be a part of Van Halen. In the end the band lost it with me and we lost what Hagar might of been if he had stayed with his own sound.
just IMO, but the studio version (this) is almost always best for most bands when you re kinda new to them. LOVE this song :)) Otherwise: more Tool please .....
This was not live. It was same recording from Lp. David was licking his lips while track was him singing. Watch Eddie and Michael sing back up with no microphone
Eddie and his brother Alex (on drums) both started playing drums. Alex was better, so eddie took up guitar. Funny how God works in mysterious ways. He knows what hes doing.
So glad you are enjoying your journey into VH. I think you are ready for some Sammy Hagar era songs. Perhaps Cabo Wabo, 5150, Best of Both Worlds, Dreams, or Top of the World. I am confident you'll enjoy all of these.
They made some great music with David Lee Roth but I never liked him his ego is what got him canned arrogant as he'll. I liked them much better with Sammy Hagar as front man.
