One of my favorites of all time. The small details make all the difference. The timing of kicking in and out the flanger is very important. I got this used Kramer Baretta Vintage (I think now they’re called Original), on a great deal of Reverb. I had to do some work on it (resetting one of the Floyd rose studs, level and crown the frets) and also put a D-Tuna and a fat brass block. It plays great now. I tried to mimic the EVH flanger on Amplitube 5, but I couldn’t get the Metal Flanger pedal emulator to sound like the real deal. The original pedal just has a more compressed sound, the emulation from Amplitube sounded not so good. Also, I couldn’t do the "swoosh" up, only the down, when kicking in the pedal. Because of that, I got a hold of a real EVH flanger pedal to do this recording.
Gear used in the recording:
Kramer Baretta Vintage
MXR EVH flanger with the EVH switch on
Reaper DAW
Amplitube 5: Overdrive, MiniPlex 20, 4x12 Brit 30, Plate Reverb
Focusrite Scarlett solo
