[Remember to protect yourself with Nord VPN: www.nordvpn.com/chapter and use our link for 4 months free with 2 Year Plan] The sobering reality of the dangers of vanlife in the outback come crashing down on us this week! We head beyond Uluru to Kata Tjuta and end up taking ourselves on an extreme outback adventure unknowingly. No internet for days, unsealed roads for hundreds of kilometres, low water and an empty fuel tank all take their toll on us and on the van. But the Australian animals always make everything worth while, we were so excited to see wild camels and even the heat exhaustion couldn't take away that joy! We even manage to squeeze in some wild swimming at ormiston gorge and Ellery creek before make a big decision about our route heading forward.

⤈ WHO WE ARE ⤈
We are Philly and Keely and we live full time in our tiny home on wheels Martha. After building our DIY home in a Citroen Relay camper we spent a year living on the streets of London before quitting our jobs only to be met with lockdown. Then we took our van further than she had ever been before to the very beautiful Turkey. Enroute, we stopped off in Spain for a few weeks where we experienced every van lifers worst nightmare, we were robbed and they stole all valuables in our van. But then we were back on our feet, fully MOT’d and back on the road through Europe before we experienced another vanlife nightmare... our van caught fire!! After the trauma of that we had a massive change of plan and made our way to Japan. We enjoyed a three-month Japanese Adventure and then got back to Martha for some new European Adventures. After an incredible three-month Scottish road trip, we have now packed up our van and are heading to Australia for a new van life adventure!

Guys... on rough road like that you can let a bit of air out of your tires and it's not so rough. We carry a charged tire-airpump to pump them back up when we are on better roads. Hope you got an umbrella while you were in town for your hikes. Also a camping/hiking waterfilter means you could use that water you swam in. 💞❣️💜❣️💞❣️💜💞❣️💜❣️💞❣️💜❣️💞 Love your adventures and your chutzpah to persevere through some of the tough stuff. 👌😊👌 Making lemonade out of 🍋 🍋 🍋 goes a very long way in life. ✌️😁✌️

Oh guys, you were in a dangerous situation, running out of water out there is life-threatening. I am so relieved you made it to Alice. Heat stroke is a serious thing, so take good care. I have always found cooling the back of the neck will help your whole body. I loved the footage you got of the Wallabies, especially the wee one sitting on the rock. They are so cute. I look forward to your videos, take good care and safe travels south. You will love Tasmania, it is so beautiful. 😊❤

Camels were first introduced into Australia in the 1840's to assist in the exploration of inland Australia. Between 1840 and 1907, between 10,000 and 20,000 camels were imported from India with an estimated 50-65% landed in South Australia. Camels are highly mobile and may forage over 70 km per day.

Great, as always....but so sad to see you barely mentioned the Brumbies ! Yet so much enthusiasm over the Camels. It's like coming across Mustangs in North America and ignoring them ! The importance of these wild horses throughout the history of both countries, is immense.
@phillyandkeely

The horses were so beautiful, I think it's because I've seen wild horses in lots of countries before, but never seen a wild camel 😂 it's the novelty factor. Something majestic about wild horses though isn't there ❤️❤️

If you can manage it sit at 80kmh over the corrugations. That way you skip over the top of them rather than absorbing every bump. It’s not always possible if there’s ruts and washouts but if it’s just flat and corrugated then up your speed until it evens out a little! Great video

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, there's a wild camel, and another camel... and another camel. Camel, camel, camellll. hahaha I am Canadian and I did not even know there were camels in the Autralian outbacks! And I somehow expected lots of greenery (a bit like in King's Canyon) in the outbacks and not as rocky, dusty and desert-like as seen here! I was not expecting to take a 30 minutes break in my evening to watch all of this when I was simply quickly watching stories on instagram. But when I saw your story sharing this video, I clicked on it and thought it would be a little short video. I wanted to see only the first few seconds but I got captivated and could not stop watching. This means the video footage is very well edited! good job to the creators. In particular the aerial shots filmed with a drone are breath-taking! Especially the scenes a bit after the middle of the video, after the moment crying of joy with a heart full. It was nice to see you share your joy "All is right with the world" with water, food, and freedom to roam anywhere :)

Small blessings on a part of your adventure that was testing you both. Did you know that the Australian camels were imported by the Afghans when they came over to help build our outback railways & roads & they have boomed so much over here as a feral species that we export them to their original homelands at a profit

"Heat Stroke" is real and very dangerous anywhere the daily temperature is high and you are exposed to the sun with limited hydration resources. "Going Troppo" up in the Tropics is also real. I haven't experienced this environment (although I am Australian), but I have heard that it can make you go a little crazy, hence the term, "Troppo". Take extra care out there; carry and use electrolytes. Keep checking on each other. Stay safe. You have made a very enjoyable series of videos.

The intense heat, the flies you guys are going through tough times but im loving your photography, close ups of the wallabies etc so glad you got to cool off, rest & found water ! Please come over to WA . The beaches are magnificent, the water is warm & crystal clear & you will love our sweet little quokkas, not to mention camel rides along the beach in Broome. The southwest is a little cooler, Esperance has the best beaches in the world & the biggest sharks! But dont worry about them. Just get over here you will love it !! ❤

We definitely want to do WA some day, we think maybe spring/autumn would be a nice season to come back in. Sadly we only have two months left on our visa and time has disappeared from us, so I reckon Tassie might be our final hurrah before we have to sell dingo. We are thinking next time we come back to Oz we might rent a 4wd to do west as it's so rugged we would love to have full access

@@phillyandkeelysee if you can get training & practice on a skidpan, it really improves confidence. Some dusty or rough surfaces can be skiddy & having a shock absorber boil or come off is similar. When our coach arrived at the Olgas it was mandartory to take water on the walk. The temperature was high 30's but humidity was only 18% so the heat wasn't that noticeable so dangerous. The walk up Kings Canyon was amazing as long you avoided the Golden Orb spider webs across the track.

Great video Philly & Keel: Interesting fun fact about camels, they were originally native to sub Saharan Africa, but were imported into Australia; due to their ability to withstand harsh climates and thrive in them. Next, I expect to hear that Camels are living out in the California and Navada deserts.🤣The only thing that I don't care for about the outback is spiders such as the funnel web, brown widows and camel spiders who all have a very nasty bite and are extremely fast.-Happy trails😀

I only got back from a similar adventure with my 15 yo son a couple of weeks ago. 6,307 klms in 10 days Adelaide to Perth and return. When looking ahead to the next town or stop or facilities the first thing I'd do is ask my son to look up the population. Oh, Eucla, population 54, I guess we're not having pizza at the takeaway tonight. Caution though, google is not always correct. One town had a population of 4,000 and when we got there, there was only a population of 2 - us.

Cradle mountain, strahan and queenstown, bruny island (best place to do a cruise with Pennicott wilderness journeys), port arthur, richmond, freycinet peninsular (cruise or hike to wineglass bay) and the spectacular bay of fires.
