Mine too, I don't want my bedding by my toilet either. Since she doesn't cook much I would have given up the stove area for more storage for her bedding or replace the pads of the bed.

So I'm a balanced extrovert/introvert BUT due to some of life's finer struggles I did become a hermit at one point in my life. Like you, I was becoming a plant and didn't want to be. In three weeks I sold pretty much everything I owned, tossed a futon in the back of my SUV and travelled for six months. I had the time of my life, sure there were a few 'scary' experiences at first from the overwhelming crazy-ass traffic and not knowing the language on the road signs to a couple of creeps in that first week, but you learn really quick and you trust your gut no matter what. Here's the thing, do you really want to be watching video's of others adventures at 65, never having worked up the courage in 35 more years, reaching the end of your life 'wishing on those what if's?' Or do you want to say as you take your last breath, I broke through my fears and I had the time of my life? Based solely on your comment and having a bit of experience myself, I believe you'd choose the latter. The best thing about it, is that you can always drive back but until you try it, you'll never know the freedom of that spirit inside you that lives. It's there and like the wings of a butterfly beating against the cocoon of your fears, dying to be set free. Do a baby step, try it for a weekend, somewhere close to home and don't over think except to say to yourself, you're going to have fun, learn grow and soar. Blessing's :)

No, you're probably just really independent and happy with yourself! This lifestyle is both nomadic (so can literally move on and be conveniently unavailable from unwanted invitations, as well as if you visit (family for instance) always have your own place and not be forced to stay in the guest room! Basically, you can choose to interact when the spirit moves you, all while living an unencumbered, yet beautifully minimalistic lifestyle! Living by your own terms!

Make it happen!! Your spirit is calling you to roam - the reason you don't go out now, is because you aren't inspired by what's around you. Get out and live your dream, it's totally possible!

Experiment Eks This is a given: when you post videos you must be prepared to deal with all kinds of comments in whichever way you prefer. Reprimanding people who post not so positive comments is a waste of time simply because most folks do not care and sometimes you may even inadvertently encourage them. At times some of these comments are only silly jesting, nothing to get worked up about.

Southamericangirl42 you missed the whole point I was trying to make here. Expressing my opinion that many of the comments regarding this video has nothing to do with the topic, the van, the layout, etc. Most of what I saw in the comments when I posted my 2 cents were people just saying this person is a gold digger, poser, who used her ex-boyfriend to buy her this van and did all the hard work. I don't know her personally. Neither does majority of the people watching this video either. To leave such claims without any facts is maligning a person. When I see this done to anybody, I speak out whenever I can. Another angle they attacked was that this was just a more clean version of a famous build and she paid thousands of dollars just to ride this trend etc I'm not here to tell anyone what to comment on but since RU-vid allows us to voice our opinions as well, *I've taken it upon myself* to call out such statements when I see they're all unwarranted attacks. I'm doing this simply because I have my principles and this is in no way stating this woman doesn't have the capacity to stand up for herself or deal with such things. We can't dictate how others act but I'm not just going to be a bystander when I can do something.

Experiment Eks - Completely agree, but what I'm discovering watching videos like this is that this community has a bunch of fake hippies who are really just hipsters. They think that they're hippies and that she's a hipster, but they're the real hipsters. This woman has not pretended to be anything more than a "mermaid" who loves water with a camper van. Totally cool by me and I'm sure real hippies would have no problem with that either. Hipsters HATE when something that they are doing that they thought was special becomes mainstream. I thought hippies were supposed to happy go lucky and lovey dovey. Not seeing that from them. They're just mad that "an outsider" is doing what they do and making it mainstream. Typical, entitled, hipster, bratty attitude. Many of them will move on to straight up outdoor camping when vanlife becomes too mainstream lol.

I agree it sucks that there's always going to be people who need to put others down to feel better oh well just be glad you don't have to be that I just love getting ideas from these for my daughter who plans on doing this in a couple years while doing photography it's super awesome seeing this become a more popular thing cause I know she won't be alone in this

A Mercedes shell...just the van can be purchased anywhere from $60 to $80 Thousand. There is a great place in Florida to get Vans. Then a interior build can start at $8 Thousand on upwards to $30 Thousand. There are some great interior builders in Nashville Tennessee and also in Anthem Arizona. She definitely has a beauty...all white Mercedes would be my choice as well!

Most of her money went towards her van, I watched a video of a woman using a short school bus for 5k and the inside stuff was 3k. A good tip would would be to buy stick on tile or wood instead of expensive counters like hers.

Agreed! The amount of hate is sometimes unreal and a part of RU-vid that can get nasty in the van life realm. I always think the same thing - people are brave enough to share so let’s encourage one another!

I think that it’s because of the cost associated with it. The tiny home, rv and bus life was originally established with the intention to provided affordable housing. As a single parent I’ve long considered transitioning to alternative housing to help me get on track with retirement savings. However, I’ve found that this lifestyle has still managed to be mostly accessible to private’s Ed people or high incomes. I am able to qualify for a house with no problem and I’ve always had good credit however, a lot of these vans and tiny homes require a down payment that is really large in order to purchase. America will continue to see a housing crisis going into the future. If I can afford between 1000-1300 a month in rent for over 15 years then I should be able to buy a van. Like most middle class Americans, I cannot afford a $30-50 thousand dollar down payment on a tiny house or van. There’s no where I can live that is cheaper that isn’t dilapidated or completely unsafe.
