I love Van Morrison. Some others of his to listen to are Brown Eyed Girl, Tupelo Honey, Someone Like You, Have I Told You Lately, Days Like This, and Moondance.

He plays almost any instrument best show I've ever seen. Small venue many drunk bikers kept yelling GLORIA, His most famous song. He asked them to stop That was a long time ago. He walked off the stage and the drunks left many waited for them to leave. His crew locked the doors. He then played every song he'd ever written. Lasted till 4 in the morning. So good.

I believe there a Van Morrison song for every possible mood that you might find yourself in. His mastery of rock, jazz, folk, blues, soul/R&B, Celtic traditional and even gospel will leave you amazed and intrigued. His songwriting is phenomenal and is recognized as one of the greatest singer/songwriters in the world. Many of his songs are just instrumentals (check out "Spanish Steps"). Yet as contemplative as he often is, you cannot help but smile and feel upbeat when you listen to "Bright Side of the Road" or "Jackie Wilson Said". Truly a rabbit hole to do a deep dive into.

I love Van Morrison. This song is on the album "Moondance" from sometime around 1969. The whole album is such a vibe. Some good places to start: Moondance (title track) Caravan And it Stoned Me Crazy Love -- Literally any other song from this album Other great vibe tunes from the 1972 album Saint Dominic's Preview: Saint Dominic's Preview (title track) Listen to the Lion Almost Independence Day -- again, all songs on this album are great, but less well-known than Moondance. Upbeat vibe tune that was very popular: Brown-eyed girl -- Fun fact: the song was originally intended to be about young, interracial love, but the record producers thought it would be too controversial, so the object of his fond reminiscences was changed to simply having brown eyes, to make it more vague and thus not controversial. When you listen to the song and the vivid images it creates in your mind, imagine the girl he's singing about being a black girl (as a white man in an interracial marriage, it has particular poignance to me). My love of Van Morrison started in the summer of 1984, after graduating college, I visited my then-girlfriend most weekends, which was about a 4 hour drive each way. I would drive home on Sunday night. One such drive, I was in the middle of nowhere somewhere between Binghamton, NY and Scranton, PA and the radio station played side A of the Moondance album (back in the days when Vinyl records reigned supreme and had two sides). Hearing that album side in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere was an experience that is hard to describe.

Van Morrison is a British Born artist that began his career way back in 1965 in a Band from England called "Them." He had a huge hit called "Gloria." Then as a solo artist, he skyrocketed to superstardom with hits like "Brown Eyed Girl," "Wild Night," and "Moon dance." He's now in his mid 70s, and still performing. Great musical icon. Thanks.

What I’ve enjoyed about Van Morrison’s music for the past 40 years is that he sings about the Spiritual side of the person! Most people sing about the physical person! He gets to the Soul so beautifully! The song Someone like You, is my favorite!! 🤩

Van Morrison...Van The Man... made lots of great songs. I like "Brown Eyed Girl", "Blue Money", and "Gloria" when he was with the band Them.

Van Morrison was a very spiritual person, so there is that component in every song, some more than others. I know that his band wanted him to go more rock as-in G-L-O-R-I-A, but he stayed true to Himself. I knew his music in the 60’s, but rediscovered it in the 90’s. A-lot of folks think that “Have I told You Lately that I Love You” is a romantic song, but I believe it is more intimate, between Child and Heavenly Father!

Van Morrison always wanted to tap into the deepest things that would fill his soul and make him feel as alive as possible. He wants to feel what he imagines men felt centuries ago, before modernity, because it must have been a powerful and primal force that made them take on life's challenges. Obviously they didn't have to seek nature to replenish their spirits as we do. They had stories and songs and ancient religious myths and love and sex and children and warfare.

His genius album was, "Astral Weeks". The more commercial stuff like Brown Eyed Girl - which he almost never played live - are all ok; but if want something deeper and "mystic" then you have to hear Astral Weeks!

He was on the radio constantly in the 60s and 70s. To Not hear of Van Morrison is to not know or hear great music. But I'll excuse you because you are very young. I used to play radio in my room at night just waiting to hear that song again oh, and guess what? It comes out a half an hour later. That's what a big hit it was.

Van is my favorite artist. Springsteen is close but Van in the man. This may well be my fav Van tune. Into the Mystic has been covered by so many other artists it's hard to grasp. And Van has done it so many different ways, as he does with all his songs.
