I was trying to figure out what it was from. I recognized it but had trouble remembering the movie. I initially thought it was from Taxi Driver when the guy is selling him the guns. So thanks for the comment because it cleared it up and now it seems super obvious, haha.

I have made many plywood camera mounts. Plywood is amazing for DIY creations you can build with special features missing in store bought ones. They don't look as "polished" but function is more important than looks.

This is a fantastic list. I saw one comment: put tools away to end the job. #6 and 5 I love. I learned #6 very recently. I started buying bags for trades: carpentry bag, plumbing bag, electrical bag, electronics bag. Great stuff. I'd add: clean your tools after each use. Re-grease, wash, dry, whatever. Matthew McConaughey interviewed after releasing his book: "Green Light" - I think it's called. (Paraphrasing): "Set yourself up for next time. Have the coffee pot ready with water for the morning. Coffee is green lit". Do the same for your tools.

A great little insightful story, as always Van. Thank you for making these. I just want to voice a safety concern I'm personally having with hard and especially heavy objects when transported loosely in the car. Even worse in the height of the passengers heads. In case of a collision these objects easily can become projectiles that can seriously hurt or kill people inside and even outside of the car. Just food for thought, you do you of course ✌️

Love the solve for the weight, but it might be worth double checking the package…CA banned the use/sale of lead fishing weights in 2019 as other states have too. Anymore, what you find at the tackle shops is actually tin. Low cost/low melt points. Looking at how shiny it ended up, might be worth an extra look (and peace of mind).

Dude this is amazing. I'm really happy I came across this video because I sell vintage jewelry online. I always struggle with coming up with camera setups for things like my DSLR and I absolutely HATE USING TRIPODS because they always fall over or don't work properly. I'm 100% going to try and replicate some of the things I saw in this video--so helpful. Also, cutting the screw so the slot for the screwdriver is in the shape of an X, I'm going to steal that as well.

Super stoked on this because my Sony ZV1 arrives tomorrow and it's also my first ever camera. Been phone vloggin for over a year now. This was a big spend for me as we don't have that kinda cash laying around, but I feel a bit more confident in my selection since it now has the Van Neistat nod. From a guy one guy in his 40s to another, keep on keepin on and when you head down Mexico way we live in a little surf town called San Pancho in the state of Nayarit. Swing on by if you need a place to crash en route. Be well! Shaun in Paradise
