Welcome to a much-awaited tour of our van! We bought our LWB Mercedes Sprinter, converted, and moved into it in 2018. The entire build was dreamed up over many years, from originally living in a VWT4 for 18months, then a narrowboat for three years, we knew how we wanted our ideal van and the way to do it was to create it ourselves!

I love the kitchen/ couch area. It is the best layout I have seen for a van. It makes so much sense to have a couch area. Great design :)

Definetly agree a van needs a couch area! My favourite part of the van is the way the kitchen has a hole so you can look out the front windscreen, Ive never seen that in a conversion before, people like to look out windows when doing kitchen work I think.

My favorite part is the couch, it's positioned perfectly. The only addition I would like to be added is a shower and toilet.

Wow just found your channel. Love the kitchen. Fyi.. u could save alot of space if you took the ketchup out of the fridge. It can be stored in any cupboard. I learned a couple yrs ago on the food network that ketchup, even though it says to refrigerate on the bottle, it absolutely doesn't need to be. It actually kills the lycopene thats good for you once it gets cold. So for a few yrs, we keep it in the pantry. My whole family does also now. Ketcup tastes better at room temperature also. Another note, restaurants that have bottles of ketcup and mustard on tables for customers, never put them in the frige either. There is so much vinegar in it, it dosen't go bad either. So it can be stored along long time with zero refrigeration. Anyway.. just a lil thing i learned that saves us. We do alot of living in our motorhome. (We have 4 kids so a ban isnt large enough). Love love love your kitchen. 😍

Yeah. I don't keep ketchup in the fridge even though it's pretty hot where i live.

Might depend where you are. In the UK they took all the preservatives out so its a natural product now so needs to be in the fridge. If you're in the US it may still have some nasties in that means its ok to sit outside the fridge for 10 years ;-))

@@daftpuddin7034 because of the vinegar it doesn't need to be refrigerated. There is no nasties in ketcup besides food coloring and corn syrup. (Which also dosent needed chilled)

I like that you did the electrical conduit so it's visible - and much easier to repair should something go wrong. No digging in the walls.

Wow - that is amazing - we are starting our search for a Sprinter and enjoyed seeing how you built it out. A huge change in our plan was your use of a wall behind the drivers and the living area - pure genius and a great help in setting up sleeping for more than 2 people. I know it can be a hassle but I hope you guys hold regular drills just to make sure what you envision in your mind as an escape in the middle of the night, an easy route, is actually as simple for the both of you as possible.

It's beautiful. Love the cupboard handles and your fancy tap - they're quite special. I also love the simple foot pump plumbing and keeping a washing up bowl elsewhere to save space - good idea!

Angela Coleman - Are you British or North American? Because the definition of "homely" in the U.S. is "unattractive in appearance" and the British definition is "simple and comfortable, as is one's own home." In the U.S., homey means pleasantly comfortable and cozy, homelike.

I completely agree with the sink idea because I see all of the van-lifers with these HUGE sinks, and I’m like, “ You don’t even have enough dishes in all to fill the entire sink!!”

Thank you for the long awaited van tour. I cant even name a favorite part of the van! I love everything you have done. I watched the entire van build last fall. I was appalled when you started cutting up the hutch from Theo's parents but you have made a beautiful kitchen from it and I am sure his family loves it too. Looking forward to your tour of the artic and am thrilled to see the Scandinavian countries you are visiting as I come from a third generation Swedish family and don't imagine I will ever get to visit there. Your use of color is my favorite thing about your beautiful van design. So many people seem to be afraid of color, so do everything in gray and white - so cold and boring! I love how you incorporated copper and wood into the design, making it feel so warm and welcoming. And your use of the old kitchen cabinet is brilliant! I love antique pieces like that and I've never seen one adapted to van life as well as you have done. I'm envious of you having a cat like Ginjey who has adapted so well to van life! In my experience that's pretty rare. Happy travels to the 3 of you!

You're the first fellow Brits I've found on here who've gone the extra mile to build the van how you wanted it, and I have to say you've done a fantastic job. I'm actually considering doing something like this myself but I don't have any of the skills required to do this myself so I'd have to find one that's been already converted. I would have to say the kitchen area is my favorite part of the van. I would like to see a table for meals and maybe on a Lagun articulated table leg. So many possibilities for positioning yet easily removable

Love it guys, awesome! One little extra needed for the garage area is a tow rope.I have always carried one in my vehicle for nearly 30 yrs, and it has got me and others out of a few "precarious" situations.Screwfix sell a 4 ton tow rope for about 10 pounds.Great vid!

If we know we’re going to an area where we will be far away from fuel/water we will bring more otherwise it is excess weight to carry

Hey Theo and Bee, What a fantastic job you have done. I love the fact that we built and kitted our vans out around the same time. And even though there are some similarities they are also so diverse and individually unique. Your bedroom cupboard adds alot of weight to one side of the van, does it not? If so, how do you compensate to achieve balance and prevent listing to one side while driving? Gorgeous interior.

I am ohiogremlin’s mother, Safi. I think you did an excellent job with your van layout and especially all the accoutrements that go with it, e.g. that track thing in case you get stuck and the air pipe. I like that you have a cat too. It seems like everyone else has a dog! The only thing I would be worried about are those plates and that coffee pot on the top shelf. I’m not sure if they would not fall if you went over some extremely bumpy roads.

Almost everyone that I've watch this far has their build cramped with so much stuff, that the isle quite narrow. I must admit that I usually fast forward through people's talking , also past or avoid all together the outside description of vans ...but I watched this from beginning to end without skipping . That's pretty impressive for me. So obviously both of you kept my interest and I really like your manner of speaking . You have definitely earned my sub!!!! Glad your video wasn't recommend !!!!!

So its pouring with rain outside, you've arrived at your destination and you have to get out of the cab and then open the side door to get into the living area. As a motorhome owner we've been there and am glad we can get from cab to living area without going outside!

It’s not really that different to driving home in your car in the pouring rain and dashing to your house though; it’s not much of a big deal for us! We had a walkthrough in our van and are fine without it 😊

This is the most beautiful kitchen!!!! Gotta say this is the most amazing use of space I've ever seen in a van build. I love that you have that upper cabinet from his family! It just makes the kitchen have that element you were looking for from what you said. I plan to live on the road with my husband and pets in just a few more years. We are waiting for retirement. I hope mine is as pleasant and beautiful as yours! Great JOB!!!!! I can't help but wonder why you moved out of the narrowboat? That's one of my dreams to live on one. Thanks, Tammie

Absolutely CHARMING! I love what you've done with your home on wheels. This is not the lifestyle for me, but you two have done a masterful job. "Happy trails to you, until we meet again," as Roy Rogers used to sing at the end of his show. Be blessed I every way!
