Hello!
Today we are replacing the carpet in our '84 Vanagon. We stripped the old carpet and reupholstered the whole front cabin. Watch out for that overspray if you're planning on doing this project yourself!

The box around your gear stick is a great idea. Did you buy or make it? Any details would be great, thank you

Hi Neil! Sorry for the delayed response. The box came with the van when we bought it. But I think I've seen it on GoWesty's site before, not sure if they still make it. Want to upgrade to the VanagonLife center console one day though. I'll let you know if I ever sell it!

How did you tuck the edges by the seat rails? Idk if you know what I'm talking about but there a piece that sticks up around them that is supposed to get tucked. Same side as where u plug your seat belt in. I cant figure it out on mine.

Hello! I know exactly what you're talking about! Though, it is hard to explain (and I hope this is what you're talking about) Our carpet kit came with a long/skinny piece of plastic sewed to the carpet trim by the seat rail (you can see it @ 1:25 on the left side of the passenger seat by the rail) We then tucked that piece of plastic in a little metal slot that is on the seat pedestal (you can see that @ 3:00 right behind to the handbrake before the rail) I hope this is the answer you were looking for.
