Good video, thanks. I would say the lines of the carpet around the edges; so the passenger and drivers door shut area, seem a bit excessive,,,so the carpet maybe larger than required or some additional adjustment towards the centre maybe?
Although I'm very happy with the end result I guess I was maybe expecting a little more initially. However it's been two or three months since the install and I'm very happy with the result the carpet is holding up very well. I would also say that the light gray looks more blue to me than Gray. So depending on what you're looking for I do recommend getting a sample of the different colors which I think they do provide for free.
Hi! I have a brown 86 Westy as well! Its time for a new carpet :). Did you like the charcoal or would you rather bought the original color? How does the sound dampening work? Love to see progress. Ill send ya a pic of my westy some time. Best to you.
I definitely like the color I chose. The chocolate brown is just too sad. It's hard to say with the sound dampening because the van generally is pretty loud anyway. If you try to save money I'd probably skip it as I don't recall a major difference. Definitely share your progress! Woot!
I have the same carpet kit and pads. I agree the padding is kind of sucky, and really could be a lot more precise. Also the carpet in the foot area like yours is not the greatest fit, overhang into the footwell or the tunnel. I may shave mine down a bit as that overhang at the footwell just looks terrible to me.
I agree with most of that. I'm still happy with the new carpet over the old carpet, but I get your point. I think there's a higher quality one but I don't recall at the moment.
The sound deadening really didn't help much because it's such an open concept and loud vehicle. It didn't hurt but I didn't scientifically measure anything so it's difficult to really tell but nothing noticeable. It definitely looked better and was worth getting fresh carpet.
Hi. thank you for sharing this video... can you tell me what you did for the area between the kitchen and behind the driver seat? do i need to remove the kitchen cabinets?
Man, my girlfriend has one of those and she treats it like her son. I wish I could find someone that could do this job for me cause I have little to no skill with manual job. The country where I’m from we just hire someone to do it cause services aren’t as expensive as in the US. She lives in California though, would you happen to know where I could find someone that would do this service?
It's really not as scary as it looks. But I get it... In la there's a bunch of companies that do interior car work. I'm not sure what part of California she's from but she should be able to find someone to do that. Thanks for the comment and best of luck to you and her as well.
Okay I am new at this can you help me confirm these steps: 1. Put down the fatmat sound dampening 2. Put down under carpet insulation 3. Glue carpet down with the general purpose adhesion spray Let me know if I missed any steps!
