I loved the Waste Makers and thus became an environmentalist until I realised it was an irrational scam.

Hello - I have learned about Vance Packard and the Hidden Persuaders through the comedy of Bob Newhart (no joke). Could you reply to me please, and what you mean and have experienced?

one of my Professors quoted Vance Packard (the Hidden Persuaders) in the early 80' in South Amercia, as a brilliant analysis of how people are being deprived of their freedom (at least making more difficult to decide more freely)

anyone else find his naive trust in humanity given his writing and research ironic?

11:00 When Mr Packard says the word “we” I have a strong suspicion he didn’t include Blacks living Jim Crow Alabama then he might find that “we” weren’t living in historic splendor but “some” near California campus suburbs

This lecture propounds nothing new--not analysis, not theory, not facts. Lots of obvious observations.
