I recognize the White Lake Radio telescope in one of the last shots. That would be a cool place for a Science fiction movie! A s Science Fiction Western?

@@klondikechris Yes!! That would be awesome! I’ve always thought it’s a prime filming location. That footage was taken 2 summers ago while I was driving though the area. One of my favorite “secret” spots in the province.

Honestly been in BC all my life and wish Hollywood stayed away. It was so nice before they moved in. Perhaps backwater but still really lovely.

I remember hearing Jason Takes Manhattan was actually filmed in Vancouver; and I couldn't help but laugh. 🤣🤣 Plus, I've visited California, so I don't have to go to British Columbia. It's basically the same. 🤣🤣

Yes, it is! There is a great scene when he is on the Vancouver Skytrain… I mean New York subway! Going to feature that in another video in the future!

@@EyeInTheSky982 it was an LOL moment for audiences in Vancouver because it was so blatant. The mocked up graffiti to look like New York was the cherry on top.

@fermentedcinema4892 On the Crystal Lake Memories documentary, Jeff Katz (???), the former CEO of New Line said Vancouver looked nothing like Manhattan cause he lived in Manhattan, and it looks alot worse. 🤣🤣🤣

Has anyone filmed in Osoyoos? I hear it's like a desert with cacti and loads of sunshine and vineyards

It’s a beautiful spot! And yes, lots of sage and prickly pear cactus! It’s about a 90 minute drive south of Kelowna. There was a Canadian made western film production filmed in the Osoyoos area a couple decades ago. Off of the top of my head, that’s the only one I can think of, but I’m sure more have. At least for scenery shots.

The movie The Big Year was filmed in part between Osoyoos, and Oliver. which was supposed to be Montana! There are several other films, and TV series have been filmed in the area as well. The S Okanogan is not just like a desert - it is an actual desert!

@@klondikechris yeah, cactus, sage and antelope brush. It’s one of the most unique locations in Canada. That’s not even mentioning Spotted Lake!

Great synopsis of of the cities place in pop culture/film-tv history. It's also my families favourite guessing game when a film is released.. Also forgot to mention with our dollar shooting in Canada typically shaves 20-30% off the cost of production. So even with lesser tax incentives than say Louisiana or Georgia? Still cost competitive... Ditto for Alberta although the nutter premier and her hate of liberal arts and culture amongst many other things drove away The Last of Us. You're welcome, Vancouver!

I didn’t know that about the Last of Us, interesting. Yeah, there are a lot of production companies that take advantage of filming in both BC and Georgia, but we all know BC is better 😉

3 reasons, exchange rate (1.00 CAD =1.25 USD), Hella tax breaks ,Amazing and diversified Locations, B.C. can stand in for anywhere, oh yeah and Amazing Crews and technical expertise.....

This is true, TV / streaming productions are massive in Vancouver. I somewhat just use “film” as a shorthand for all movie/TV/streaming productions.
