Vanilla Swiss Roll Cake Recipe

Ingredients for this cake 😃:
5 large eggs (250 g)
3/4 cup sugar (150 g)
1 tsp vanilla extract (5ml)
1 tbsp vegetable oil ( 15 ml)
1 cup cake flour (130 g)
1 tsp baking powder (3g)
Bake at 375 F/190 C for 18-20 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
For vanilla whipped cream / Chantilly cream:
1 cup very cold whipping cream (heavy cream)
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

I tried years ago to make a swiss roll & messed it up so i vowed never to try again well i had to try your recipe & it turned out wonderful ❤ Thank you for sharing your recipe it truly inspired me to try it

wow i just made this cake. It took me only 10 minutes to bake. It tastes very good. It is dry as dust so simple syrup is a must here! Mine was hard to cut because it came out really crumbly even after being in the fridge. But it tastes delish!

@Jessica I prefer to use oil in swiss roll cakes. It helps with softness to make it roll nicely in my opinion💞

Is the baking pan the same as a cookie tray or different? how high is the edge?

Yes, it is a regular half sheet pan and the sides are a little over an inch hight.

I just dropped loads of chocolate syrup and rolled it hot as I was scared I might break it lols but I will definitely try it again properly next time.

You can try with cake mix, make it as the directions of your box cake.

Hi , do we use the same measurement of ingredients or we reduce the measurement for a small tin?

If your tin is really small, use half measurement. Otherwise a standard medium size tin will take the whole batter.

Use any flat baking sheet you have on hand. It doesn't have to be a specific one for swiss roll.

Just reduce the amount of flour to 3/4 cup and add quarter cup of unsweetened cocoa powder😄

I only found 1 17x11 vanilla Swiss roll recipe online then came across yours. I realize you're using a larger pan but do you think my size will work? I'm not using it as an actual cake roll. I'm going to use the sheet of cake to make my layers for a trifle. I need a large cake roll recipe so I can have enough sponge to fill my trifle. Please reply as soon as possible. I plan to make this on Thursday. Thanks!

Your size will work too as long as you're using it to make layers for trifle. It will just be a little bit thicker than mine. Baking time will vary slightly, so keep an eye on it and take it out of the oven as soon a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Hope you like and enjoy it😊.

I tried it twice. Its tasty bt cake is very dry . How i can protect from dryness??

Over baking will make the cake dry. As soon as a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean, take it out of the oven.

Yes of course. But if you want your cake to have a light texture, after you measure your all purpose flour take out two tablespoons from it and replace it with corn starch and use it afterwards.

@@lucindahoward9811 in case you don't have cake flour on hand you can use all purpose flour instead. Measure the same amount indicated in the recipe then take out two tablespoons from it and replace it with corn starch, mix and use it.

It may be mixed alot after adding the dry ingredients or it was baked alot so it dried out.
