Episode 8 just confirmed why Vannick would be the worst Chief ever. He might be a good soldier but he is not a leader. He just does orders without questioning anything. He isn't more than a mindless drone or a dog on a leash. True leaders in the military and good soldiers care for their unit, have commitments and will fullfill their duties against all odds anyway. But they are never mindless! A good soldier controls himself to make the best decisions. A true leader knows the weak points in his unit and how to cover liabilities. A leader knows when to thrust on someone and when better to check on them. That's exactly what John117 is doing. Seen from his viewpoint John did the right thing in every decision he made. But he still can't see all influences coming from outside. That's why Masterchief's behavior is on point for his role and his abilities in this show!
@@lee-cl8td both are part of prophecy. So both might feel attracted to each other as part of destiny. I think they just did it to confirm why they thrust each other later in sense of honor and respect.
@@pascalwittmer-braun6025 I mean they've only known each other for 2 days max and they established that she's part of the alien race that just destroyed another human planet. I get what you're saying but they built that love story in 30 minutes just for the sake of the plot. It was really unnecessary
you see that's the thing, these writers dont think these Spartan II's would have interesting characters, which is dumb because if you look at the games you can clearly see that these spartan II's can have some character like Jorge, Jerome, and rest of Blue Team
"Spartans must be bonded to one another and nothing else" *Proceeds to beat the shit out of MC at the drop of a hat because a butt-hurt civilian told them to*
@@emmanuelmontilla7645 You don't unterstand story-writing or the symbolism behind his doings. He rather shared bed with a power of the destruction than with the personification of the enemy. His empathy with Mackee saved their lifes one episode later, because Mackee decided for humanity and saved his life. So John did the right thing to trust her to bring her back! Besides how boring would a emotionless Masterchief be? If Masterchief was only stoic as Vanneck is portraied the main audience would be bored in the start of second season and it would end the show. If you just want killing covenents, watch a playthroug from someone else. It feels exactly the same. To do yourself a big favour, please grow some own balls, so you don't need to judge maskulinity of someone else! No one needs this kind of toxicity!
@@pascalwittmer-braun6025 You're clearly out of the loop, you see the damn ratings in this show? Better yet, who's the show for? Wasn't it for the fans? For the newcomers, well WHERE ARE THEY? The show's whole plot point and development was already ass since the moment master cheeks took off his helmet which is the object of his very own legacy, his identity and idea of being Master Chief. He was faceless for a reason, his actions bear weight and character as a result his badassery that made him who he is and why he is loved in the gaming industry. Master chief defied the stereotype of being a generic white male protagonist as his demeanor and dry humor made him likable and memorable to the fans of Halo. Yes, they took effort to follow the lore, but this ain't halo, this is just a sci-fi tv series with a paint of halo. The series also felt very seperated in terms of the action/fights scenes from its plot/script, the action scenes showed what spartans can do, but the script couldn't help but to make Master Chief too vulnerable in terms of emotions and reactions to certain situations, in the games AND lore, John was the perfect soldier, killing machine and hero, a fine masterpiece of the spartan 2 program which was the MOST intense, dangerous and lethal of all programs, you know how he got through it? with luck. The tv unironically uses the term demon to him way too early in the plot since this version of Master Chief is not fully developed as the DEMON that he actually is in the eyes of the covenants and wasn't even cold and brutal, he has too much emotional baggage to be the perfect soldier. They even hilariously used a emotional chip thingymajig as a plot driver in order to act as a reason to give him feelings and clap some covenant spy cheeks. Symbolism? Stop the cap. John is the most respected soldier in all of the unsc that even higher ranking officers and generals acknowledge this, Halsey loved and trusted John out of all the spartans because she believes that John will always do the right thing. Master chief is literally the symbol of Hope. Hope against the covenants, flood and the forerunner/didacts etc. So to end my blabbering, no they didn't do Master Chief justice. This show must either be rebooted or just drop the silver timeline because this show doesn't give Halo the love it deserves and does a disservice to the fans and newcomers who wants to enjoy and be immersed to the lore.
I can just imagine Halsey standing there, sunglasses and trench coat in the rain, watching Ivan snuffle about in the mud, before pulling out a phone and issuing the command; “take the shot”. One of Red Teams most confusing yet memorable assignments to date
If anyone was making an actual good halo show that wanted to respect the ip They should definitely consider having him Despite how awful the show is he actually did a fantastic job as a Spartan, he could actually emote despite being in a full suit and didn’t take off his helmet and armour every 5 seconds
I like kai the writers just did her dirty. A spartan after fighting countless battles, froze up from seeing people die around her....sure she had her emotions coming back but there's no way she just does NOTHING in that situation
Doesn't it make it sexist that the male (chief) just gets mad and super aggressive on the battlefield and the woman breaks down into an emotional mess?
@@joshuagiehll3737 kind of, I guess Because the spartan program doesn't judge you by your gender, yet Paramount ignored that like everything else "Based on books"
@@samturner6061 I know I’m a little late to respond, but idk who your comment was aimed at. Regardless, there’re different types of people that react differently to situations. A soldier that has already fought doesn’t freeze up because of the results of fighting, regardless of gender. As a soldier, I can say the only time I’ve ever frozen in a dangerous situation was when I was in a car and another car jumped a curb; I saw the bottom of that car and thought “well I guess this is how I die” as it came screeching to a stop just before it hit me. Stuff on fire or getting blown up, yeah I either run towards the smoke or run for cover and figure out what to do next.
@@emmanuelordaz4057 Thanks. Not sure what happened. But I thought I deleted this post and corrected it to Spartan II's?!?! Anyways, never read that comic. But wasn't it during their training days before they became fully fledged Spartan 2's?
I have enjoyed watching ~5 of these short RU-vid Halo series trailers more than all recent Star Trek TV shows combined (including Picard and Strange new world).
why in the world did they feel like that had to make the spartan program cartoonishly evil? They were kidnapped and that's bad, and these children were conditioned and trained to be soldiers from the age of 6. We get that this is evil, we didn't need all this extra it just makes it cartoonish.
They talk like they barely know eachother. Spartans especially regarding spartan IIs would have probably been friends since before their augmentations and would've trained with them and the best example is chief with blue team and even Jerome with red team
spartans must be bonded to one another and nothing else so he kicks the shit out of chief following orders kinda reminds me of those D&D quotes of GOT season 8
I actually like all the Spartans including Kai (unfortunately plot needs her to remove the Pellet and found emotion for the first time). John Halo aka Master Cheeks, idk... With better writing Pablo could be a great Spartan and perhaps even Master Chief. Since Season 2 has been green lit, I only hope they learn from their mistakes in this season.
@@enriqueosorio3731 surprisingly, the show is a massive hit around the world lmao. The rating isn't that bad as well except for episode 7 which is the worst episode of this series. I guess their strategy to pull in non-Halo fans to like the show is a success.
I think it's a twist now. The actual master chief is actually Vannak, i think that would save season 2. Just make John a delusional psycho killer and kill him, and have Vannak be the actual Chief Master.
Weak betas: I was in the winning side 9 times before I lost, I failed on my 3rd mission Sigma male: I never lost Sigma male grindset rule #117: Spartans are bonded to each other and nothing else. With your comrades, victory will come.
the halo show really dropped the ball on spartans being human they just turned them into robots instead of just making robots because spartans are still human and you could see this in halo 5 with blue team halo wars 2 with red team and even master cheift in every halo game
We've got the Spider-Verse with a black Spiderman... Christ let's have us a Halo-Verse with a black Master Chief... He's all the Master Chief character this series has.
