Use ability has become a top consideration when purchasing new gear. Being able to see the ND stops and being able to use your lens cap are GREAT features!

Awesome timing! Just started looking into VND filters to up our game... namely the Gapeys Grub videos first and then me as I'm getting back into photography after a decade break. Thanks, this helped as I was wondering why my footage is so jittery. I cannot decide if I should get variable or fixed NDs as variable gives more "comfort", but fixed looks sharper and better in reviews.

Great video! But do you need to use the 180º for a slow (not slow motion) take in the woods, where there's no fast movement? Will we see any difference at all between 1/60 and 1/400?

I love your production style, so I watched to the end. Just bought some lenses, and filters for my iPhone 11 Pro about a month ago, and I am diggin' them. Also like that all your packaging is recyclable, and the thin case is compostable, but that just makes it hard to watch so much single use plastics in the videos, sorry folks, especially Niles, I'm sure those iced lattes are good, but I hope you recycle those cups at least.

Got mine today and this case that it comes in is a nightmare! I can't even open it up. The top case is screwed on waaaaay too tight I tried using a knife, getting oil through the crease, and floss and still no luck ...

Ok, I shoot with my phone. If I have the 62mm mount adapter for my anamorphic lens, couldn't I use one of these variable nd filters? What's the difference with these, and the other ones they show for phones?

I don't own a camera but very much passionate about it so just curious to know that can we use 2 filters together? Like what if we are on a outdoor shoot and we want to use ND as well black pro mist filter or polarizer filter or uv filter together?

great ending. Curious about the shutter speeds significance on stabilizing the shots. I understand how motion is captured (blurs, dragging the shutter, etc) between the 1/50 and like 1/1600 - but it seems the image/footage is actually stabilized by the shutter itself. Is that true?

Good comparison! It's actually less of an issue than I tought. For vlogging or other talking head videos it really doesn't seem to matter at all. The average viewer will never spot the difference. Seeing this I will actually opt for dropping the filters and bee free to just shoot.

I love this and all the information, but at 6:24 I thought that was maybe a little rude to make the non-ND footage way shakier - obviously the filter and shutter speed has nothing to do with the camera rattling all over.. You didn't need to do that to make the point. Your ND filters are awesome.

ditto. I can't help but think that wasn't either intentionally filmed, or intentionally looked over in post. Even if you were at a really bumpy section of road you could have warp stabilized the footage a bit to make it not such an unfair comparison, especially when you're talking about the footage being "smooth". Novices might get confused.

I just got my 58 mm Moment variable ND filter. The Canon lens cap does NOT fit when the filter is on my camera. You are saying at 12:32 that "we thought about" that problem. But sorry, it's not working! I'd need a 59 or 60 mm lens cap for Moment 58 ND variable filter. Not only does the cap not fit, it's also not possible to put any additional 58mm filters (CPL, UV, etc.) on top of it.
