Jig flies seem all the rage, but in fact have been here for a long time in the form of the Clouser Minnow, Jiggy and other patterns for salt species. In recent times and with the rise in popularity of Euro-nymphing using jig hooks and tungsten beaded nymphs. One or two saw an opportunity to tie baitfish on that platform, and be very successful targeting trout and other predatory species. Friend "Martin Smith", came up with a pattern others named "Martins Minnow". I've fished the version I tie up for a few seasons and can say hands down I wouldn't be without a few in my box, for perch in particular. I prefer natural materials and in this case i'll tie it using nayat. However, Martin's original version is tied with synthetic, and works just as well.
