I've been fly-fishing on and off for 40 years and tying most of them, so built up a fair bit of knowledge. I'm at my happiest when I tinker, learning something new and teach by film making. I don't take myself too seriously, so what you see is what you get. Just maybe some of my content might inspire you to give tying streamers a go, as it's a great way to relax and be creative. I tie regularly for others during my spare time in order to finance this channel and my own fishing. It's actually quite costly to produce these free tutorials, so if you feel like buying me a coffee than it would be appreciated to help the channel grow. If you're looking for custom streamers then get in touch through my email or on social media. If I can't tie it then I will put you in touch with who can. Lastly please be respectful and polite when leaving comments. I try to answer questions, though many of the answers are found in the description or during the video.
I'm so glad to have found you. Your very experienced and thorough. I enjoyed your buck tail flys. Thanks for your time and knowledge 👍🎣🤠 Dave Hughes Rolla MO.
Thank you so very much for the great video!! However, I don't in any way mean to be rude or Sarcastic, yet I had to mute the audio, as your choice of Rock music, is very rowdy, and not at all harmonious, with fly tying!! Fly tying (since I began in 1978), puts me in a Tranquil mood, when accompanied with soft Jazz/Rock/Blues/soul, or no music at all)!! But as they say, "to each his/her own"!!
Awesome as always Paul...I watch your videos several times each. I am always picking up little things I didn't see or remember from watching earlier. Your laid back nature and not taken yourself to seriously are great qualities. Other tiers on other channels talk to us like this is our first day ever tying a fly!!😂😂😂😂😂 annoying to say the least! Anyway, cheers 🍻 and thank you for your time!
Hey Paul, I watch your videos many times and pick up something new to me each time. One question I do have is, do you prefer to soak the flies and hang dry them before adding the eyes. I realize for the purpose of the instructional video, you plow through and add the eyes. But, givin' the choice, do you prefer to soak them first!??
I always run them under cold water and dry them against a radiator first. It's because I usually tie in batches and in the habit of shaping them then. I don't think it makes much difference either way.
Yes!! Bought a box full of flies a few years back, this one with other colors was in the box. Im so thankful that i found this video so i can tie more of them. Thanks for sharing Paul! 😊
Hopes to see u back soon read thoight the comments get that u have other stuff on i fully get it hopes u an the family r safe an well more hopefuly see u soon but in ur own time wen redy ❤
@@paul_monaghanI was hoping but assumed not! Will the black nickle not hold up to salt and smaller fish? absolutely love you channel. I have learned a ton, thanks
Un Bonjour de france j habite près de st Étienne et vos vidéos sont génial je pratique la peche a la mouche depuis 20 ans et le brochet au streamer depuis 2023 sans resultat mais je vais persévéré grâce à vos montage jy crois merci
Beginner here.....excellent video. I really enjoyed it...I liked it that you took your time explaining and not going too fast. I will be using this fly on Canadian pike.
@@paul_monaghan yes I know, you and Gunnar developed it with Ahrex. Absolute great this hook. Nevertheless I think using this rig with the PR378 for a weedless tube very interesting.
Hey Paul, i am curious what other names for that tail material. I hear you say that isnt fair if you name a few...why is that? Also, i picked up some synthetic Yak hair and it looks exactly the same with the same kink in the hair! Just curious if the synthetic yak hair is a substitute for what you are using!
You're not missing anything here in the USA. I love your style of fly tying and how laid back you are in your instruction videos! Very easy to follow, you make it look so easy, but yet my flies don't turn out as nice!!😂😂
Very helpful Paul thanks! Is there any rattles you recommend? I recently tied half a dozen flies with savage gear rattles but now all I have is half a dozen pike sized dry flies🤣
I really enjoy your style of tying and explaining while you tie an awesome fly. You don't get all caught up in trying to explain every last detail as you go...excellent flow to your tying. I have learned alot about this style of fly tying from you...excellent!
