Massively underrated. Tried to introduce VAST to some old friends over 10 years ago and they didnt appreciate it. Here I am at 33 YO wondering why still.
This song is okay but nothing special however the singer is clearly talented. I had a memory of how unusual this video and song was (in terms of atmosphere and the quality of the singing). So I researched the band on YT for the first time about a month ago, and heard songs like "Here", "Pretty when you cry" and "I'm Dying". Now I can't stop listening to them. He was clearly ahead of his time. Did you show you friends those songs?
I listened to this song on the way home from handing in my notice at a job I couldn't stand. I felt like climbing on top of the tallest building and screaming it at the top of my lungs. Perfection. Utter PERFECTION
I heard this song on the radio while I was working out back in August of 2000 . That same day I ran to the music store and bought the CD I listen to Vast religiously and Free is my favorite song from the group and is my favorite song of all-time 😊😊😊😊🎉🎉😂❤
I remember when I was 17 and liked this song. I forgot the band´s name and have not been able to listen to the song ever since after so much searching. Now 18 years later I listened to it while working. Spotify got me here. GOD BLESS THAT APP!
This was the closest to metal that Jon/Vast did. Produced by Rob Graves. Was definitely expecting more hard metal styles from Vast to balance out there other brilliant melodic tracks.
I remember seeing the video for the song in the early 2000's, but couldn't remember which band did the song. Until now. I couldn't remember the title either. I'm so glad I found it!
I was 14ish and had insomnia, one night I put on some MTV2 and it was just on this show and they played this video and I was hooked. I hear it in movies and ads now and it's like, literally haunting.
@@MephProduction I'm well aware. At one point many years ago, I reached out to his management to try and collaborate with him, and received a response that he wasn't interested in collaborating with anyone. My point isn't that he didn't succeed, my point is he should have been an even greater success.
Second album de VAST, il est produit le 12 septembre 2000 par Elektra Records. C'est le dernier album produit par Elektra Records. The Last One Alive - 3:38 Free - 3:07 I Don't Have Anything - 3:46 The Gates of Rock 'N' Roll - 3:24 What Else Do I Need - 3:37 Blue - 3:25 Land of Shame - 3:26 A Better Place - 3:23 Song Without a Name - 3:32 We Will Meet Again - 3:39 My TV and You - 2:40 Lady of My Dreams - 2:53
This song came to me on a five track sampler from Ozzfest 2000- it rocked. Also, there was a track from MSI for ‘I Hate Jimmy Page” and a Pantera track. Best $20 I ever spent.
Loved "The Box"! It's one of the channels I always have to explain to people who didn't have the full cable package back in the day. Pretty sure that's how I discovered about 50 different rap artists that MTV ignored.
@@RossBeck Yes I love that! My sister still keeps a word document titled "The Box" and it has all of the songs we loved from back then and if we think of any others she adds them!
Ppl, sorry if it sounds inappropriate or rude, but by any chance anyone know the nationality of Jon Crosby? If it somehow connected to Koreans than it's easier to explain this spectacular vocal range
He is American born born in Los Angeles and his mothers side ancestry came from England and Native American whilst his father who he never met was to believe to may have been or come from Japanese ethnicity Also his great grandfather was congressman from Massachusetts John crawford crosby
cool song, this is my first time hearing it, i foudn this while looking for other songs. glad i found this, sorry do not remember it from 2000 and i was 22 then
Love this song but It sounds like he's singing "You try and tell me what to do anymore" instead of "You CANT tell me what to do anymore" which I personally prefer...as far as lyrics go. Am I just hearing it wrong? Great song none the less.
Lol early 2000s late 90s were a weird time fashion was horrible mainstream rock was this gimmick agro metal. This isn't that but you can tell it was slightly influenced by what was popular at that time
The song goes nicely with Bill Hicks rant on Marketing and Advertising, in a world engineered by Soft Power and propagated paradigms, engineered for control.
I hope the spiders spun the band some new threads. Nevertheless, good sounds. Just lose the purple hooker jacket. Stupid record labels. Jeans ( Levis ) and a white t-shirt. That's all you need unless it's cool again to look like a throwback to the laughable 80's pop bands. Just sayin. Props though , the music is good.
Keep in mind this song is 19 years old! When it came out, the style fit in pretty well with what the standard was. But yeah, the fashion hasn't aged well.
