I am a practicing and believing Roman Catholic. I am also a lay person. Therefore, there is a great deal that I do not understand. However, I am studying constantly. And, from my present perspective, there is great truth on two things: Vatican II radically changed worship. And, there has been an evil coverup and even promotion of unnatural relations between certain, powerful ordained and youth... On the former: The Catholic Church has never (as far as I can so far find) a logical, clear account on how what was the way of worship and adoration for 1500? years give or take, is suddenly wrong, not accepted, controversial...and FORCEFULLY changed. This will never be solved until the pope declares a logical solution. This is not my ego going against... This is a simple plea for logic. I am a Roman Catholic. Pray for ALL involved. Pray the God's will be done.

One of many Catholic groups, with many laity who say similar things, and find themselves deeply confused and worried about the utter lack of clarification on this. Similarly, they find themselves confused as to why this (rightly) deserves excommunication, and the German synod schism does not, or why the "pro LGBT" Catholics are not excommunicated given their complete and total rejection of revealed dogma. Again, this all feels very ideological as opposed to motivated by truth.

The fact a priest a criticizing pope for his mismanagement (i.g. cover ups or whatever) is and was not a problem AT ALL. The problem starts in the second when such priest says pope is not pope, this church teaching is in its substance formally heretical (“Vat II is not a valid council” and - especially it’s sacramental theological - ordo sacrament - is not valid). If a priest claims that publicly (or makes acts the implicates that position - for example let himself ordinate again “sub conditione”) he simply declares he is not part of this church. Magisterium only explains it (for those, who have not the theological competence) by declaring what already happened. And it is their job. Thanks God they do it.

Assuming Pope Francis means an unethical lack of respect for the person or people one is seeking to convert then he is correct. He was right in his criticism and right to call out the many dubia that had been issued, expressing concerns that the Pope (and yes, he is the Pope) is ideologically captured and trying to promote things that are contrary to revealed dogma and Sacred Tradition. The schism however is incorrect, and this decision is the correct one, in that he excommunicated himself.

No, the principle of Latae sententiae excommunication goes back before the Council of Rome in 1079. The other conclusion you could have reached was that this original statement from the Pope was just nonsense. You can indeed exclude yourself by your actions. Unfortunately the Pope is well known for his imprecise use of language, and his "feeling before thought" approach to theology.

Pope Francis has come out and said, if this channel is correct about his political views, that the win by Macron is to his liking then this could be part of the schism between the Roman Church and Vigano. The Church is as divided as society is.
The schism was a step too far and was inexcusable, but he was bang on correct with his accusations before that point, and unfortunately the schism has drawn attention away from the still outstanding issues to do with promotion of homosexual lifestyles and socialism, both of which have been condemned by either Revelation, Sacred Scripture or Sacred Tradition. The protection of the likes of Theodore McCarrick, and even this year protecting Cdl Ricard, despite him declaring in 2019 that he would "bring them all to justice". The dubias remain. The open questions on how many others he is protecting remain. That doesn't mean he isn't the pope ... he is. He's just one of the worst of our age.

There are MANY (self)excommunicated latae sententiae (just read some comments on Viganos excommunication). But being declared as excommunicated by magisterium means being officially clarified that certain beliefs divide You from the catholic church no matter if You call Yourself catholic or not. And it is important that Vaticans in very public cases does so, otherwise many people might follow schismatic leaders or opinion makers into schism.
How can a validly consecrated bishop be re-consecrated? A priest cannot be re-ordained. You can’t receive baptism twice. So how and why would Vigano want this act? Any responses? Ive never seen that mentioned anywhere before of a re-consecration
If he denies Vatican II, he must consider he hasn’t been validly consecrated bishop (and priest??) as the liturgy on his consacration was (for him) “not valid”. 🤷🏻♂️
In the church there are valid ordinations and illicit ordinations. Even though an ordination or consecration may be illicit (that is illegal in church law), it is still valid.
If anyone bothers to investigate Vigano, he has an agenda of his own at play. As difficult as it is to believe, he has for many years gone out of his way to disobey the vows he made therefore, one must ask why? By disobeying the Pope, defaming him whether one, agrees or disagrees with the Pope, Vigano has set up a way to become head of his own Church. The only problem I see with the Holy Father excommunicating Vigano is that he should have done it many years ago. It took far too long, and Vigano hurt the church in ways that we cannot recover. Had he been punished harshly after that foolishness with that crazy Kentucky Clerk of Court (something that the Pope should never have been duped into being a part of), our church would not be as badly broken as it is now. Vigano gave the voice to the crazies that they wanted, and it has hurt all of us. He should never be allowed to come back into the faith. It is too bad they don’t laicize those clergy who are excommunicated--he should have been defrocked.

Vigano didn't do a “re-foundation” of the John Paul II Institute on Marriage and Family, undermining the Church’s consistent teaching on moral and sacramental absolutes and destroying the institute as previously understood firing most of the academic staff. Vigano didn't directly contradict Our Lord's words in the Abu Dhabi Statement. Vigano didn't run an Amazon Synod and didn't have idolatrous Pachamama statues in St Peter's. Vigano didn't have huge swathes of Bishop Conferences across the world rejecting Fiducia supplicans including offending Orthodox Christianity to the point that formal ecumenical discussions to heal the Great Schism have broken down. That was all Pope Francis. One of the worst of all time.

It is very difficult for an American to understand what is a democracy (just check out the rating of USA on the democracy index) but it is not just free election. Populism is not the peak of a democracy but an abyss of it (as history showed repeatedly).

EVERY moral act presupposes free decision. if people go to church or fulfill some religious acts (prayer etc.) BECAUSE they have to (forced by state law) makes God about as happy, as You would be happy, if You know that Your wife is with You, not because it is her choice and she wants to be with You, but because she has to. Democracy is a gift from God and the best space to live the love to God.
