VAUHALL INSIGNIA cdti, Engine Sump cover removal UK. 

Had a crack at this, don't need to remove drive shaft, don't drain gear box, just undo the drive shaft coupler and it moves enough to remove the top bolt on the sump bracket and the sump bolts.... drop exhaust to allow easy removal and fitting of the sump once prepped. Saves a lot of messing around indeed.. thx for this video. I would not have attempted it. it gave some great tips... patience is the key with this job..

Got oil seal on my Astra 2.0 CDTI replaced by Harvey's, Hill top West Bromwich. £230.00 including oil change, oil filter and new sump gasket. They had to remove the drive shaft. There were no cut outs in the flywheel or the sump, so they had to undo the gearbox to make enough room for access to the 2 sump bolts.

You can actually do it without undoing the driveshaft or splitting the bottom ball joint ect. If you undo the tree bolts around the driver's side driveshaft intermediate bearing next to the inboard CV joint and split the bearing out of the bracket, it allows you to knock the whole driveshaft outwards towards the wheel slightly, this then gives you the room needed to remove that last bolt that holds the bracket to the engine. One thing to note though, on the later cars (post 2014 IIRC) you cannot access the two sump bolts behind the flywheel from underneath as there's no indexing slot in the flywheel anymore. This means the flywheel must be removed which is a major pita if you don't have garage facilities! This process involves dropping the gearbox, removing both driveshafts and lowering the subframe a tad! Has to be said, these are really well designed cars🤔🤷‍♂️🤬!

is this the same process for replacing a oil pickup seal ? Also is it true that the driveshaft does not have to be removed ? thanks'

I have an Astra J 2.0 litre CDTI. I believe i have the same engine. I am getting a low oil pressure warning when i start the car in the mornings. Stays on for approx 20 seconds before the warning stops. Is this an indication that the oil seal needs replacing?

Hi matey, I can just see the 2 hidden bolts on mine, when you turned your crank did you get a clear passage past the fly wheel.

When you refitted the sump did you remove the engine mount to jack the engine/gearbox higher ?

Pig of a job on a drive..the flexi will pop off its just extremely tight to the subframe and always remove the dipstick as it can get trapped when re assembling

Was it leaking Johnny?
