Which, if it were anyone other than Malcador, would not only have killed him but turned him into paste/jelly. Malcador survived, got back up under him own strength and had "only" a few broken ribs and bruises. Dude got slapped by a PRIMARCH and shrugged it off. "F" that :)
Nice catch I didn't notice that! So it *was* the 2nd and 11th Primarch that were erased from history? I kind of respect the fact that if they were going to "retcon" they did it right *within* the story. I also like Vaults of Terra's idea that those two factions were left intentionally blank within a apocryphal story so that players could fill in the "blanks" for themselves with their own stories.
Except in the 30/40,000 setting, knowledge is power - Malcadore and The Big E have their history shrouded and purposefully obfuscated as to not expose their true identities. In affect, it's a layer of protection. Your true identity, your true name, holds power over you and can be used in spells such as evocations an binding rituals. Much in the same way Tzeentch's changeling's identity is only known to Tzeentch, as to prevent anyone else holding power, or having visibility over him, while he carries out Tzeentch's work. In much the same way other greater daemons hide or attempt to hid their true identities, as to not be bound, banished, summoned or potentially destroyed. The books are written from the characters perspectives, there's not really any narration going on - so, people only know and comment on what's known to them and the greater 'universe' - so you could say the fact we know little, is for continuity of cannon. Also, knowing something about these main protagonists would demystify their personas a little.
He could, potentially be both - there's two ways to become a perpetual, naturally, and via someone resurrecting you through a ritual, as was the case with Cyrene Valantion. But, you don't even need to be a perpetual to live as long as Malcadore has, for example Ahriman can heal himself at a cellular as a result of his psychic might (on top of his natural Astartes healing ability). However, given that Malcadore has hunted down some of the most powerful artefacts known in the universe of 30/40,000 and is besties with Big E himself - you could argue there's a good chance either he himself, or Big E has bestowed perpetuity upon him, if he is not just sustaining himself through his own psychic might.
You know if you think about it, him visually holding on that throne must've made other custodes think man that must be in agony trying to seal the gate or he's just holding it in.
Request: could you make a more general video about life on Earth in the WH40k universe? There are fragments of information scattered around in the novels and it would be great to get a clearer picture.
I would love to see more on garro! you mentioned him here though, i'd like to know more on him origins, facts and his task and fate working for malcadore?
If all the Primarchs each has a unique characteristic of the Emperor, could Malcador the Sigillite actually be the Emperor in the same way Alpharius Omegon are one soul in two bodies?
Alpharius Omegon are basically the black ops of the Legions. Alpharius being the public face while Omegon worked behind the sense. Both Alpharius Omegon had equal power within the Legion. Malcador was second only to the Emperor, even the Primarchs took orders from him. Malcador was the secretive head of assassins and did many other clandestine things while wielding the same power as the Emperor. The Alpha Legion if I am not mistaken was selected for a very secret program that set it aside from the other Legions. It is just a theory but I think it could be possible that the Emperor in a way was in two places at once by splitting his soul with Malcador.
nah Malcador was likely another person entirely, the emperor was an amalgamation of the souls of early human psykers while malcador was a powerfull psyker from some old occult order, the emperor actively sought out psykers to join him during the unification wars and with malcador being so powerfull he probabbly was the first one to be found
I think the most interesting theory out there about Malcador is that, he is the real vessel of Emperor of mankind. He and Emperor are one soul in two bodies but once Malcador was just by himself. That is how he stayed hidden for 30k years. Emperor is just avatar of his true power. Malcador literally put all his eggs in one basket.
take a look at the first image- two skulls with the roman numerals of "2" and "11" and one of the top videos on the side talks about the missing 2nd and 11th Primarchs. coincidence? I THINK NOT
Anzu Wyliei Years ago, me and a couple of buddies were up late drinking, we had two bottles. One of '43' a spainish orange liqure I'm fond of and the other bottle was Absynth. Now both are really strong, Absynth obviously being something like 70% proof and 43 being in the realm of 35% when neat, so... already being drunk and insane, we decided to see what happens when you put them both in the same glass. We barely survived the resulting shots and named our abomination of a drink, Latinum, after the precious metal from Star Trek (The exact logic of why escapes me, we were all pissed to the gills at the time and gasping for breath through burning throats)
Could you expand more on some of the xenos races? Considering that you have done all the primarchs. Also, videos on Inquisitor Czevak, Commissar Yarrick, and Farsight would be cool :)
Ok so the four space marines who went to Titan became the Grey knights. But what happened to the one sister of silence, as well as all the other sisters? Apart from the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy I've heard of them doing anything or even being mentioned very much.
Thanks so much for this! If you get a chance to answer, which books from the Black Library have Malcador's story or is it interspersed throughout all the works? I need to go over your complete histories again this fills in so many "blanks" for me! ^ ^
personally i think malcador is a natural born psychic-human who are the imperators goal of what mankand is to be he might be the case when evolution worked a bit faster on a group of humans and not the whole race or his order was breeded for the sole purpose of accelerated evolution
Dear Ed, Are you eventually going to do a video about the certain Space Marines that didn't fall to the heresy? I would be very interesting seeing how they even made it out alive
Just wanted to confirm, but Magnus still had more psychic power than Malcador right? I'm not asking which would win in a fight, rather which had more psychic power (since Malcador wasn't built to power the Golden Throne, but Magnus was).
Malcador, at the time, was probably much more familiar than with the warp than Magnus; but Magnus has greater potential and his anatomy would let him use the Golden Throne without turning into a husk.
Is there any information on how he managed to reach such an incredibly high age if he was merely a human? I mean if he already was around for the unification-wars and died at the end of the Horus Heresy he must have been what? Around 400-500 years old? Is that just a thing with psykers in 40k?
It's kind of hand waved, but it's kind of because he is a psyker, possibly related to the Emperor (distantly) and Imperial technology can keep people for a looong time (Some of the current lords of Terra are at least hundreds of years old). The answer is, unfortunately, because the plot needed him.
The Vaults of Terra Thanks for the quick answer :) If I may add a following question: Are Primarchs and in extension the Space Marines are basically immortal? Because time never seems to be much of a concern to either.
Did Jake give any reason as to why he decided to stop playing Dark Heresy with you guys? I mean episode 9 was great, but I have to admit that it was kind of sad to see a player quit.
A question Ed :D Have you ever thought about doing a crossover or such with Arch warhammer? :D I mean, both of you are Warhammer 40k fans, you both do gameplay... Could be rather fun :D
I like Vaults of Terra the way it is, and as much as I've been researching the lore of WarHammer 40k I've gained nothing useful from ArchWarhammer who seems to bash on GW or try to sell you on a different game and the information he gives is nowhere near as deep or well defined. (For instance the way Ed will tell you if something could be one of two or even many different ways or interpretations.) A.W. has no nuance and doesn't seem to understand the meaning of "apocryphal." he's even used words like "canon" *shudder* in regards to WarHammer 40k. Heck, even *I* know better than *that*.
not quite they are potent psykers but have little presence in the warp as they do not feed the chaos gods with their thoughts and emotions. that's why they are rendered down into ammunition cos of their anti chaos ness (tbh it's all very vague.)
Nathan Holstrom O yer there's no doubt he's the most powerful pure human if he is pure human but he is in the running for most powerful psykers. As how do you compare the top tier psykers magnus did things the emperor didn't or couldn't so did malcador but then the emperor also did a lot of things no one else did are we gona put the eldar into this cos they turn themselves into gods periodically and have mastered the power of farsight like no other race or god……. I don't think when we compare the greatest psykers in 40K due to the wide difference in the manner of and use their use of their abilities. Ps I don't intend for this to sound hostile sorry if it does.
Malcador should've been the Emperor of Mankind. The Emperor and his Primarchs were not human and neither did they care about them. Malcador with a huge Imperial Guard Force would've been much better. Praise the Sigillite!
It's pronounced Nee-ke-a (emphasis on Nee; the "e" in "ke" is pronounced like elephant). I'm Greek. Nikaia means either "the place of victory" or "the city of Nikaios" (Nikaios being the male version of the name Niki, which was the Greek goddess of Victory)
