Sir, I don't know you. Just discovered your channel when looking for a review on the Vava. I must say, this was the most comprehensive yet succinct review I've ever watched on RU-vid. You answered every question I had and didn't take all day to do it. Excellent job and thank you!
It's Faux-K not 4k. It's extremely high input lag is due to pixel shift technology that will give the appearance of enough pixels to be 4k, also while not being native 4k (4096x2160). Projector Central states it perfectly in their True 4k vs. Faux-K page; "Then Texas Instruments released an 0.66" 4K UHD chip with a physical mirror matrix of 2716 x 1528 which uses two-phase pixel shifting to create 8.3 million pixels, which is 4K UHD. They followed that with an 0.47" DLP 4K UHD chip which has a physical mirror matrix of 1920 x 1080. It uses four-phase pixel shifting to create 8.3 million pixels." I'm just glad the page exists because it saved my fingers from a lot of typing. True and real 4k is truly a sight to behold when paired with a good screen and having room light control. Good luck with your search.
@@scotttild Sony has a True native 4k that is $4999 and JVC starts at $5999. This holiday season Sony took it down to $4499. So Vava is a waste in my opinion. Laser vs. metal halide; I'd go with metal halide every time.
@Dreamstate I'm sorry to see you're so misinformed with projector technology. Brightness, colors, and picture quality are all valid reasons to find the right projector; it's not a gimmick or even "fake news." The panel used in this projector is not on the same level as just one of the three used in the Sony intro 4k projector. Each panel displays native 4096x2096 at 8.8 million pixels for a total of 26.4 million pixels; this far out weighs the Vava using one 1920×1080 panel at 2.07 million pixels, shifting the image 4 times to create a 3840×2160 image at 8.3 million; hence the input lag and very different quality of image. Lasers and UST are not gimmicks either, which have nothing to do with each other. Ultra Short Throw is great for smaller rooms that have a large wall but not enough distance. Lasers are great but don't have replacement parts, when they get dim, you need a new projector. This is why I prefer a metal halide over laser or even led because you can replace the lamp whenever the picture dims. The main components are the image panels and lens structure and superior technology isn't a gimmick, just better research and development that delivers better results. Each manufacturer has its own pros and cons based on their specialty. Do plenty of research. The next step after getting the projector you want is a good screen for the type of room and ambient lighting (if any). Do your research and focus on specifications versus marketing materials. Projector Central is a great online resource that does great reviews and breaks down the technical specifications.
GizmoMaltese Why assume that all rooms have to be dark? Many new projectors are made to work in non-dark rooms will limited light, such as my living room where it’s all white, dumbass. Look at this guys projector room setup: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bguggwnpIAM.html The Higher the lumens the better the projector will work in rooms which aren’t dungeons. So don’t blame the manufacturers because they obviously know what they’re doing, and the fact that you guys think that you have to have a dark ass room just to watch and Projector shows her stupid you are and how old you are living in the past
@@scotttild Hi Scott ... I saw a vid a while back by some bod from their 'head office'. He stated that they had consulted Amazon marketing depts (really?) over a long period of time who then 'recommended' that a white product will sell better. Think they should get their money back! He also stated they were going to consider a black casing option plus 3D as an alternative. Not sure if that will ever happen TBH!
Hi Chris, another great video. Quick question. Would this projector be suitable for an outdoor setup and if not which projector would you recommend? Ashley
I've had the VAVA projector for about 3 months now and I absolutely love it. It has replaced my TV in the living room and even posted a video on in. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v7vucFQ4OgA.html The only down side so far has been the bluetooth remote and can't get it connected with Alex, Siri, or harmony. I've just message around for the last hours, doing what Chris said, and can't get it to turn on by cycling a smart wall outlet, the moon icon only works half the time, won't work as Watch TV will only work as Watch PC, which won't control my cable box. And the list goes on and on. Otherwise great investment.
It’s very heavy to say the least...it’s like it was made of bricks. Solid construction. Smells good right out of the box. Not that noisy... my Epson was the same in noisiness. Bright picture NO DOUBT...and that’s accurate marketing from VAVA.... had it on for possibly 5 hours with my fire stick...no issues. Remote is easy to use. Menus are easy. Very much like an Apple Product. I am not sold easily when it comes to projectors especially with all these USTs coming out of China...like Xiaomi and Fengmi and Wemax...which I think VAVA is riding their coat tails on this bad ass technology. But I don’t read Chinese symbols so I went with VAVA and to be honest, the projector is Solid, heavy AF, and I drive a Chevy Silverado... and it FEELS like a US product. I’m glad I went with this projector... I had my concerns and $2799 investment was a leap of faith. I was so nervous making this purchase but I’m glad I did.
Firstly, that shirt doe! Secondly, can you review the optoma p1 even though it’s very expensive? So I guess there are only 3 reasonable 4K USTP: vava, p1, and xiaomi and of the three you would recommend?
Just an FYI. The LG HU85la cost 6k, but it does have the .66 dmd chip, which has a native resolution 2716 x 1528. The vava and optoma p1 cost less but has the .44/or .47 dmd chip, which is only 1080p.
I’m gonna have about $9,750 to spend here in the next few days hopefully. And I really want this projector. But I think I want laser eye surgery more. And I can’t get both because laser eye surgery can be more than $5,000, though if it is for me, I’m not getting it. And I need to pay of my current phone ($800) and get a new one because it has water damage and randomly clicks on random things by itself. And that’ll be $1,500 (iPhone 11 pro max), $1,000 for bills, so I’ll be lucky to have $1,000 left. Someone should buy this projector for me if I do end up getting laser eye surgery. Or even just giving me $1,000 and I’ll pay the rest. Lmao.
When I hear you say how you have received too many requests to review this projector...I was like dude is looking for some excuse to buy more gear...lol
I have this projector and honestly the input lag isn't too noticeable my girlfriend doesn't notice at all and I was playing 4 player split screen on call of duty the other night with not one person batting a eye
i have the older version on the gt1080 darbee with only 3000 lumens plz do a review on the new version and of the Optoma GT1080HDR Short Throw Gaming Projector | 4K HDR Input | 120Hz Refresh Rate | Fast 8.4ms Response Time | Bright 3800 lumens for Day and Night Gaming found it on Amazon its $799
SCAM! It is not 4K. It is native 1080p that supports 4K with Pixel Shifting. They also advertise it as 6000 Lumens on the website when it is 1800 at best. As he said, the interface doesn't work, so don't expect colors, contrast, HDR, work well either. Definitely overpriced. This should not cost more than 1K at best. I heard it doesn't even have 3D. It is a waste of money. If you are going to make a 4K home theater, get something nice. Just look at that contrast ratio 3,000:1? Even 7 years ago 1080p Sony projectors were already doing 1,000,000:1. I feel bad for people spending their hard earning money on this, plus the thing is white, how is that good?
Because there are many 4K UST Laser Projectors. Hmm. These should be the future at a lower price. You forget the need for a 700 dollar to 5000 dollar screen. (No cheap crap)
If you buy a VaVa and buy the 120” Vividstorm electric tension floor UST ALR screen...where do you/would put your centre speaker from your surround sound?? Thanks
First turn off is Vava should have known white is the worst possible color for home theater equipment. Second is they used white for the color of their projector.
Birdseye Birdseye Hi @Chris Majestic I ordered VAVA projector from vava.com and had a $500 off and they didn’t charge any tax. Is this site legitimate? I also went for 0% interest loan with Affirm.com they haven’t done any credit check... so not sure if they are legitimate to buy the products.
How did the meaning of the word "native" get so perverted in the projector world. If the display chip is not FULL 4k then it is NOT native 4k. In the specs you showed it as native 4k but stated in the video it wasn't natives 4k but pixel shift. Why do Mfg. call it native 4k if they are using pixel shift, a bit deceptive.
Do you know if outputting sound via 3.5mm or optical turn off the soundbar? I'd like to add a small powered subwoofer while keeping the speakers on. Thanks.
Hey hi chris im intersted to purchase this vava 4k projector i have a 4.70meters of wall and i need to know what color i have to paint the wall to see the best resolution for this projector can u help me? I see a lot of video of screen paint grey, black, white but i dont know what i choose... Thanks!
Can anyone recommend an Ultra short throw projector that is good for gaming? And when I say gaming its all nintendo Switch stuff like Super Smash and Mario Kart. I know its nothing intense but i would not like the 100ms input lag even on those games.
@ Chris Majestic Can I win this projector?? Cuz i don't have anything to buy it hope Ill get this soon.. And man nice video detail review voice and everything
have you done a review of the - YABER Projector 6500 Lumen 1080P Native LED Projector. if so could you provide a link, you are the only guy I trust on youtube re projectors thanks.
Great review Chris, I really enjoyed watching your video. I own a Vava 4k projector and so far, I'm pleased with the performance. I stream via Nvidia shield, so thankfully, I don't have to mess with Vava's poor android interface. I just ordered a Bestå tv stand from Ikea like the one you reviewed in your home theater tour video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9u-X1RELLBQ.html I'm pretty sure I will have to re-adjust the height of my projector screen once it arrives. Speaking of screens, do you think the substandard picture quality you're experiencing might be due to your projector screen? I use (and highly recommend) an ambient light rejecting (ALR) projector screen for Ultra short throw (UST) projectors and am pleased with the picture quality. (Please note, these are my personal opinions, I am not in any way affiliated with Vava) Thanks
please help, my vava projector automatically turns off. It turns off even before logo show up. is it overheating issue? Looks like a lot of people have this problem.
Can you mount a short throw projector above the screen? As I’m looking for one to put outside to watch sports and don’t want to put a tv unit or whatever under the screen on my back patio
I don't know if you already choose one but I own both and on my opinion if you have a dedicated room I would go for epson, the 5040ub has many features compared to vava, vava looks sharper compared to 5040ub but is not that easy to calibrate the image to your likes as epson is with many adjustments you can do on projector, for hdr non are great but epson can be calibrate better for a great image, black levels 5040ub wins on a dedicated room but the ust has the convenience of space, since you don't need a big space to enjoy a huge screen
I recently aquired the UHD51ALV this was my first projector I wanted existing 3D with entry 4k. I had wanted a 4k UST but the prices just are a bit too high. One concern is with the huge shift in display technologies and larger sizes of the OLED tvs projectors will likely get retired in the near distant future. But for now I'm enjoying this Optoma having weighed the options after comparing spec and using this sites earlier review. THANK YOU
Will you post the instructions on how to setup this projector with the Harmony Hub? I was able to get to pair those devices in the VAVA Bluetooth Menu, but got stuck...
I wanted to get your opinion about which projector i should get. I’ve been doing a lot of research I narrowed it down to two projectors in my price range. I am torn picking between The XGIMI Aurora 4K Ultra Short laser projector, The VAVA 4K Ultra Short Throw Laser TV or The Hisense 100 L5F laser TV. I would like to get your Professional expertise on Which projector I should lean more towards
what does that question even mean? you have the wherewithal to know what dolby atmos is, meaning u have a receiver. Yet u choose to ask meaningless questions like this.
question... if I plug in a Sony DVD player that has Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime apps on the DVD player itself, can I watch 4k movies through apps from the DVD Player on the Vava? is it 4K NATIVE?
Hi, thank you for your review video. I always enjoy them a lot. Now, I have a question. Have you ever used VAVA4K to show powerpoint or using pc with VAVA4K? how is the resolution and latency? I am thinking about using VAVA4K at work with 150inch screen. Thank you.
Hello Chris i have a question that maybe you can help me with. Is there a significant difference in picture quality with the vava 4K projector over the JMGO 01 pro 1080p projector?
Hi Chris. Have you tested any Wemax short throw projectors? Good pricing and reviews on Amazon?.also like the one you’re reviewing now. And,Hi sense isn’t getting very good reviews on Amazon or any other sites..
I’ve watched videos about laser vs lamp based projectors but nobody EVER discusses cost for lamp/laser replacement. Any idea where I can get that information?
Hey Chris, Love your content! Could you please make a video on Bomaker Polaris 4K UST Laser projector. It would really help people like me making their decision between Bomaker vs Vava.
good review 👍🏻 but it's not an old projector but they ship it with Android 7.2 and bluetooth 4.2 ? what about the Android security patch? will there ever be an Android update?
I have the Xiaomi Wemax Pro and I couldn't teach my Harmony Hub to manually add it. Plus, as Chris stated, the colors don't pop and the lag is over 100 ms. Also, my unit didn't come with 3D capabilities as advertised. I didn't learn until after I bought it that the international versions don't have that feature. I will definitely sell this projector and upgrade to a new one when a gaming 4k UST projector comes on the market.
How does this compare to Hisense and lg? Im in the market for a short throw projector. Please do a comparison video. Reply to this question and you will gain a new subscriber 💪🏾
Damn man I need your help! I decided on the vava 4k ustp, however I can't seem to find a decent 150" alr screen at a reasonable price. The only ones I can find cost more than the damn projector! 🤣 Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Love your channel
@@ChrisMajestic thanks for the reply. I was also wondering about colour degradation while watching from sides. And also need for special screens. Is it necessary to enhance the picture quality.
