Vax blade vacuum - cleaning and battery replacement. If your vacuum cleaner has lost suction or stopped picking up dirt, there are a few simple things you can do at home that might bring it back to life. Clogged filters, an overflowing dust container or a bag or blocked airways usually spring to mind but sometimes the problem lies somewhere elsewhere, though. If the vacuum cleaner isn't maintained properly, for instance you hoover without filters on, or the filters are not installed properly, the dust and debris go inside the vacuum.
In this video I will show how to put vax blade vacuum cleaner into pieces to clean it thoroughly inside and how to change the battery, and which parts need checking and cleaning so your vacuum cleaner works like new.

Brilliant, thank you. Followed your instructions to take the Vax apart. Found a loose wire on the motor, re-soldered it, put everything back together and it works perfectly again. Really helpful video.

hey man very similar issue here just found the brown wire going to the motor is disconnected like completely the terminal is still attached to the wire so there’s nothing for me to solder back on to

ok nice video mine keeps going off while hovering I think its something to do with the long tube type part but not sure the boost also is intermitent.

If I turn mine on and boost off it lasts flashes 50% battery press boost it shuts off sure it’s battery mate

You can replace the battery unit without taking the covers off, just the battery cover. Three screws, unplug the coloured connectors on one side and the whole lot lifts out, and can be replaced by another for under £30 UK. Unless your machine is unusually dirty you should not need to take everything apart. This video helpful if you want to replace the motor however.

Thank you for the video. I don't think this vacuum is very robust, we have had it for a few years but it doesn't get used too harshly. The brush bar keeps loosing it's connection and now the motor has an unhealthy squeal to it. I think a tear down is needed with a thorough clean and the application of some oil to the motor spindle. Perhaps there is a loose connection in the brushbar that needs soldering. But, re-assembly of it all looks difficult!

Thanks for sharing. Re-assembly seems worse than it is, just take your time and you'll manage to do it.

@@k-nemo I started with the brush head. The issue was that the negative wire on the across the flexible joint had snapped within the insulation. I have soldered and reassembled but now the brush head spins constantly, even when the hoover is off. I have never seen this before, very odd behaviour. I swapped the poles for a test before disassembly so I must have damaged a PCB somewhere. That or static discharge, shame. I thought it was just basic 12v or something.

@@rogerdickinson6944 I had the same! Soldered the snapped negative wire but now the machine is not turning on and flashing his charging lights red (or red/white if the vacuum is fully assembled). Did you find a fix for your problem? Disagree. I replaced the filters and this is the best hoover i have used for suction power and most definitely the best on boost power for pet hairs. You must have had a shite machine with faults.

Lovely vacuum cleaner when it is working, but a horrid machine to take apart! It was clear that VAX never intended these machines to be deep-cleaned, opting to cater for the throw-away society instead.

You're right. it's a great hoover when it's works. But because it is very small and has lot's of parts it's hard to put it to pieces. The motor is sealed, there is not much you can do to repair it when it's broken.
