These are pretty birds. Boxes really help their numbers. If the box bottoms are fit inside the back, front and sides, the whole unit will stay together longer. If the corners of the bottoms are trimmed off, drainage will be supplied, and the fitting of the parts will be easier to accomplish. I like the way the access is on the side. At Raven Rock in NC I've seen these birds fly nonstop over the small falls on the Cape Fear River. Today I saw 5 to 20 of them constantly zooming and turning on a pin in the air over a small fall, just going nuts. What do you think they were doing? Catching bugs I just couldn't see? Or courting? I saw a couple pairs that didn't separate that entire time. Absoluting fascinating sight, like lighting bugs with their gold flashes.
