Full head unit installation on a Holden Commodore (VE).
We used the Alpine ilx-w650E for the radio - you can use any radio you like!
We used the Aerpro Fascia kit (with all pieces for install) - get yours at

Hi mate great video the only problem is that it seems that it doesn't fit a 7 inch screen is that right. And I can't get the steering wheel control to work. I'm fitting a unbranded Chinese double din head unit. Which I don't think has a 3.5 jack on the back and don't know how to do it.

Hi do you have a similar setup for a wm 2008 statesman. it has the trim that comes down both sides and a small connecting piece of the trim across the front of the facia between the top and heater controls. thanks 👍

Hey guys i just installed the new radio system from this video about 2 weekes ago the problem is that the lights of the airconditioning system won't go (the climate control screen does turn off) off when i turn the car off. Is this normal? Or did i do something wrong this probably keeps draining my battery cuz my battery goes flat almost every morning now? Might this be a different problem with my car all together?

Great video mate, had issues with my android setup from digoptions, the early models have to have their HVAV unit replaced if they have the wrong version. Be good to know if the unit youre using has the same issue?

Hey mate! Any double din with 7” screen. 8” + needs to be custom or perfect fit from Alpine. The unit we used here was actually a great fit!

Hi, love your channel, just a quick question if you dont mind. The digital display (oil temp etc) in the dash on the ssv. Does that stay the same or do you lose those features when you take out the stock head unit?

Glen c That all stays the same 😎. Good way to test this is just get to the main radio plug on the factory unit (drivers side) and unplug it

Awesome job there buddy. Just a question, where did you connect the blue wire that’s attached to the antenna adapter?

To the blue “antenna trigger” wire on the aftermarket plug. In this case the Alpine plug. Pioneer, Kenwood alpine etc all have one or two blue wires. One is antenna and one is remote or one does both. So find the blue wire and connect to that.

Do you have the instructions for the fascia still? It’s done on the new fascia with the dial controls ive just forgotten the exact sequence. If you don’t have the instructions I’ll get some and post for you.

Hey mate thanks for the reply i ended up figuring it out. You hold the right control wheel for 3 seconds and then you can change the cars time/date. For everyone who comes here looking like i did 🤣

Blze Harris Thanks! So they only work on series 1 and if the amplifier only controls the factory sub and uses high level input it will work but if the amp runs the whole system it’s not retained it’ll need to be looked at to confirm if it can be retained or needs to be bypassed :)

@@TheFittingBay thanks man,i am thinking about purchasing the dual zone kit,i am aware there is a standard amp that powers the rear subs,in your expert opinion,do you think i could just disconnect the stock amp and run rear subs to a aftermarket amp set up from a aftermarket head unit?if that makes any sense?cheers

@@blzeharris9023 Nice! Yep you can do that but you will also need to replace the subs, the 8" kickers fit in the factory box. An aftermarket amp is just too much power for the factory subs not to mention how much they have already deteriorated over time. They might last a week or a month but eventually they will shit themselves with an aftermarket amp.

MarstaJNZ The alpine is awesome! Nothing wrong with Sony and Pioneer. My favourite unit is the Alpine ILX-702D but then two best units in this price range of W650e (in video) are this unit and the pioneer DMH-Z5350 and also the Sony XAV-AX5000. My personal pick is alpine though 😊

Hi.. awesome demo.. I have installed a android headunit.. all working good accept swc. I have patch leads setup for learning and use key1 key2 and ground. But steering wheel will not learn commands... any suggestions.. thanks ps.. you make it look easy.. lol

@@NgapuhiR8 nah I don’t think that’s the problem. Did you check the patch lead instructions? Because chopping the green wire is for Alpine units but if you used android unit maybe you should reconnect that green loop and also try all other variables of cutting loops etc until it works ;)
