what type of non dairy milk did you use? I've been partial to the silk ultra for the higher protein but always curious if there's a specific one for cooking that doesn't hinder the flavor. Also, where'd you get the knives you used?
@@rmart8827 I always use ripple unsweetened, it's the best milk I've found for just about everything. I honestly can't remember where I got this knife, my other knife is a Misen but it needs to be sharpened (as some viewers mentioned a couple videos back lol)
Just a heads up, elephant garlic is a different botanical species then normal garlic. It’s actually the bulb of a leek (Allium ampeloprasum) while normal garlic is Allium sativum. All this to simply point out that it’s generally quite a bit more mild than regular garlic, and thus the equivalent amount of garlic might be quite a bit more “spicy”, in the garlic sense of the word.
Thanks for the note! I’ll make sure to add that to the written recipe. The first time I made this it had about 4-5 cloves of normal garlic and tasted mostly the same so it should be fine with that much garlic 👍🏼
This came out delicious thank you! If anyone doesn't have mushroom seasoning you can use a bit of tamari/soy sauce for that umami flavor (i used 1/2 tbsp and no salt to balance it). I've made this twice now and it will be a permanent recipe in my book!
Made this for Easter and it was amazing!!! My husband hates celery so I used canned green beans and corn instead. This pie warmed my vegan soul ✌️🤤 so good.
Look man...I don't say this to RU-vidrs but dude...I LOVE YOU! THANK YOU! I was literally talking to my bf about wanting vegan chicken pot pie 😭 thank you! You made my day :')
I’m so happy to see a recipe where the puff pastry worked! I made a version of this exact dish a few months ago and the dough was totally raw still. I wonder if the egg wash really helps for sealing it. Looks fire! Hopefully a lot of ppl make this 👌🏻 highly recommend the tofurkey chicken for it as well. Also makes the BEST chicken noodle soup
We make chicken and dumplings. Very similar, except use some pulled bits of accidentally vegan biscuits in the sauce. Also, that puff pastry makes excellent pocket sandwiches. Ham and cheese, chocolate croissant, tofu scramble and potatoes. Cut the pastry into sixths to form the tops and bottoms and crimp together with a fork. Little greasy, but lotta yummy.
I just baked this and it's one of the best dishes I've ever made. I absolutely love how versatile it is. I used soy curls, a can of coconut milk, and 3 bags of frozen veggies and it turned out fantastic. It also baked surprisingly well in a loaf pan. Thanks so much for the delicious recipe! I will definitely be making this again.
OMG! I have been craving a vegan pot pie! I am so excited to try this. You made it look so easy too. Thank you! This will be dinner tomorrow night! 💖😊👍
OMG you read my mind! I was just thinking about not-chicken pot pie as a cold front blew in to Texas a couple days ago! Thank you will be making this weekend
That looks so good I can almost taste it! My mouths watering! I’m happy to find your channel! It has so much to offer. I also make RU-vid cooking videos and I’m always happy to learn from talented creators like you! Keep in touch New Friend!
This would be a great anniversary meal IMO! I would say unless you're a speedy chef, from start to finish about 90 minutes. You can prep all the veggies before hand, in fact you can make the filling before hand and then that will cut out a ton of time, but if you do it in one session, I'd reckon 90 minutes is safe.
@@TheeBurgerDude you’ve read my mind. Not the most skilled chef in the kitchen lol, so that works. so I can make the filling ahead of time? That’s amazing.
@@Pittie_Huff Yeah just make it and store it in the fridge, then I would heat it up so it's warm before adding back into a skillet and covering with the puff pastry (oh also you should try to cut out a heart shape for the center of the of the crust!)
Nice! Yeah I think I might make it for my family this thanksgiving too! It's so easy and would pair great with some mashed potatoes and green bean casserole!
For the pastry top. How many packages did you use? I noticed there were 12 pieces you cut, but there are 21 pieces, and the circle on the pie. So I'm a bit lost on how many packages of pastry puffs are needed. Please assist.
I'm gonna try it! I love you fast food cookbook. I'm not a cook but have had success with your book. If this pie comes out proper I'll feel I've actually accomplished real cooking. Thank you.
Omgoodness this looks so comforting! I haven't had a pot pie since I was a child. (Wasn't a huge fan of them (too much filling lol) ) But I'm So happy I came across your video so that now I can make my very own and vegan style too😍😍🤗🤗
I keep buying those tiny $4 chik’n pot pies at my local Kroger’s and I’m so tired of wasting time and money going to the market and dealing with ppl and the store so now I’m just gonna Mel it myself. Thanks for the tutorial
I would think a person could portion the mixture out to individual tins or small casseroles before cooking and then have smaller individual servings for lunches or other meals.
This is a great recipe! I halfed it since I was using a 10" skillet. It is so savory! Thanks for the recipe. I've bookmarked a few others to try and well. I'd post pictures but I don't think I can
I made this today and it was delicious. I used lions mane mushrooms for the chicken because it on sale. And the puff pastry at my grocery store had butter in it so I used phyllo dough instead.
Delicious!! For the chicken I used tofu tossed in garlic powder, salt, pepper, olive oil, and cornstarch and then baked. It was so yummy even my definitely not vegan 95 year old Mom loved it. Only problem was I failed to take into account that salt and the salt in my mushroom seasoning so it was pretty salty. But I’ll making it again this week with that in mind. Definitely a comfort food keeper!
This is the best from scratch pot pie I’ve ever made! So much better than using cream of mushroom/chicken AND it won’t destroy my stomach 10/10 this is going in my recipe book!
Tried it and I looooved it!!! Super good. I haven't had chicken pot pie since I stopped eating meat. Thabknyou so much for sharing your recipe with us. I highly recommend it!
A tip for the puff pastry of the same brand used in the video: There is now a vegan version of this brand of puff pastry-- avoid it. Go for the original, the Vegan version is so dry and thin, it is impossible to work with.
Yes, that is a huge bummer! I still have some in my freezer that I haven't used, and I'm glad I didn't in the video, I was worried that it wouldn't turn out the same.
