Oh boy. Every once in a while there is a recipe, often a video, that tempts me so much I simply _have_ to try it. This is in part how I became a vegan, I saw something and instantly thought "This looks amazing, like someone created the impossible, challenge accepted." Your recipe and video gave me that feeling again, thank you very much, I'll certainly do this. Nice video editing, voice over, cutting and overall presentation as well, you deserve more subscribers. Instructions seem very clear, good tips. Best wishes from Germany!
If you have not already seen him, you should check out sauce stache on RU-vid. He’s does many challenges where he tried to perfect a vegan version of something. I tell you this because early on I also really liked watching videos of vegan food, for the same reason you said. Then I became vegan
@@yessicainfante831 that is so much work! you can try to do better things for nature or humanity in that many hours you wasted. Many try to do nicer things instead of trying to do food that looks like meat! Meat that comes from our friends!! You and the people who made positive comments are hypocrites! You people disgust me! Why go vegan if you are craving meat?? Hypocrites!!!!

@@junkyardstud8597 if animals are your friends that's one more reason not to eat them while there is an abundance of other food available. Who's the hypocrite? Do you also refuse eating a piece of a wedding cake because the baker could have spent the time making it for other things?
Thanks for this video. I've tried WTF seitan every few years for the last 15 years and failed almost every time. This was a win for me - I will make this all the time. My husband doesn't like my seitan but he ate this and went back for seconds.
THANK YOU For being thorough without being boring. I loved you took time on the washing of the dough since all I have read did not cover this step in any depth or explanation. I will be watching all your vids and have my bell to catch any new postings
Again, the best wash flour chicken video period! I've made this multiple times and please follow the resting times. Sometimes I forget and the results are not so good. I even rest over night. Thanks for sharing your expertise and looking forward to more videos
Vegan cooking is so incredibly creative! I am not vegan myself but I am looking at making more and more meat free meals and your seitan creations look fantastic! I genuinely can not wait to try some out :)
leslie taylor: Please do .. even if you don't make vegan meat yourself, there are so many wonderful products on the market these days that taste just like the real thing. Let's help save the poor animals on this planet and go vegan sooner rather than later. 🌹
I literally cannot believe what I just watched. Did you actually just make seitan from scratch?😳😱I had no clue that was possible but I suppose anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I literally cannot wait to try this recipe. Becoming vegan during quarantine was the best thing I ever did. I have time to watch videos like yours to learn of new methods to make food taste good and healthy. I will definitely tag you once I try this recipe out. Thank you so much for sharing this!🙏🏽
Thank you for sharing your process. Being a more visual learner helps me to feel more prepared to try a WTF seitan. As you would surely know and have seen the drama on Facebook groups, for whatever reasons recipes are tremendously controversial, but this gives me a solid reference point of what to watch out for and how to start while I develop my own process.
You’re welcome! I’m happy to help and share my methods in hopes that it will make it easier for someone to create their own seitan. It’s definitely a learning experience. Just be patient and don’t give up. I didn’t get it right until my third attempt, as my dough was too wet after washing. I had to learn just how much to wash it and to squeeze as much water out of it before incorporating the seasonings.
Thank you for this step by step video, I've failed twice already in trying to make the Wash the flour method, but watching your detailed instructions makes it much easier for me to know what to do! Can't wait to make this!
Great video and excellent instructions. Thank you for sharing your troubleshooting as well. I appreciate your directions and good editing. It’s so much more helpful to see how the texture should look. Can’t wait to try this.
Thank you! Yes, the most important part is getting the right texture after washing the flour. Just make sure you squeeze out as much water out of it before the seasonings stage 😉
I just made the fried version today - what a hit! Yessica, your voice is pleasing, your teaching style clear, your music non-distracting and your recipes (because I also made crepes with the starch water) unique and delicious. Love & Light✌️
Great music selection. I saw Joywave in Cleveland with Silversun Pickups and Foals. One of the best concerts ever! Anyway, I can't wait to make this. Great instruction! The brisket would be by far the greatest thing I have ever made. Thanks for sharing!
It will be worth it! Just make sure that your dough isn’t too wet after washing. Squeeze as much water out of it as possible. Most people have a difficult time with this step.
Why do you want to eat the starch? Better give it to the plants. Starch can make you fat. Imagine having half a kilo of flour goes into making two seitan sticks which you can easily eat. Can you consume half a kilo of flour in the form of around 700g bread?😂😂😂
@@sfr2107 I just throw them away because almost everything contain major proportion of starch, be it grains, cereals, pulses, beans, vegetables, etc. Protein is expensive, so we can derive the same from wheat flour in inexpensive way. At our place pure cottage cheese is almost twice as expensive as chicken. So being vegetarian i have these alternatively every week. I prepare seitan at home to make sure there is minimum starch left in it and embed it with defatted soy flour. It gives nice flavour to seitan without reducing the protein content and balancing the 9 essential amino acid profile. Gluten alone has 8 essential amino acids and deficient at one.
@@Dave_en waste makes me uncomfortable even if there isn't financial gain. Someone suggested that it can be given to plants. Maybe it is suitable for composting as well
I am making this again right now. Iam going to try with the drumsticks lol. I used wholewheat flour + soms vwg and then washed it.. because I dont have a high protein level in my flour I think. I am excited about it. My mom lovedd it last time that I made it and she is not vegan or vegetarian.
Thank you for your thoroughness! I've always felt very daunted by setien let alone the wash method, but you make me want to try, everything you are making looks amazing!
this is a great idea to make for my friends and family when they help me pack my things to move across the US. I know my family loves chicken so this and this does look fantastic! AWESOME!
I just loved your video so much! I wasn't a fan of wash flour method so far, but now i feel like i finally got the courage and the necessary knowledge to try again. Your drumstick are what dreams are made of, Thank you
You were extremely thorough and clear in your instructions, Yessica, which I greatly appreciated. I haven’t been tempted to try this method of creating vegan chicken before, but, because you make it look so simple, I will try it. I have heard great things about the Breville Air Fryer Oven. Be warned, though, it’s quite expensive.
This is such a great video! I cannot wait to try my hand at washing the flour too. Of course, now you have me wanting a video on how you make crepes and bacon! You are an excellent teacher and I'm looking forward to your next project :)
There are a lot of vegan sites on RU-vid and many seitan making videos but I think yours is the absolute best and most informative. I've been wanting to do this for some time, and after watching your videos, I think I'm ready for the challenge. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Hi, my friend 🖐☺ I looks soooo good!!! Woooooh, yummmmm Your recipe is simple and easy also it is healthy too. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I wish you have a happy life and enjoy the rest of the week as well Thank you friend waiting next video 😘
What makes this healthy? From what i have heard, the stuff that is left after the starch is washed off is gluten. This (supposedly) have similar side effects as glutamate: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V-MSXMmlFk0.html This being said... Not everyone think glutamate is dangerous, as long as it is not consumed in exaggerated amounts: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gG5Tr13V0-E.html Im not sure what to believe. I try to avoid buying spices that contains MSG, but thats as far as it goes...

Thank you for generously sharing your process. I am new to the seitan fellowship and enjoying learning these techniques. I have been craving fried chicken using the WTF method. Looking forward to trying this out!
Aloha for Hawaii! I really like your explanation of each step in the process. This helps me because I am Vegan, but a beginner cook. Mahalo (Thank You)! Aloha!
Aloha! You’re very welcome! This is one of those dishes you make on occasion since it’s time consuming. The end results are definitely worth the effort 😊
Thank you so much for this very detailed video. It is much appreciated by this Seitan newbie. My first attempt at the not that washed method and the pickiest eater enjoyed it. I’m attempting your brisket recipe next. Blessings to you.
Wowie. Yum yum yum ... this is probably the very best and most helpful washed flour seitan video I've ever seen. I'll definitely be using your recipe in the very near future . Thank you :-)
Super video. I am just making my first seitan now and i am going to use it to make these! Fortunately, I have a well-stocked pantry! Thank you and best wishes, from Reggie in the England! 😁
Gracias Yessica!
Wowwww! I can't even believe it. I am in shock actually! this looks very simple to make, and I am wondering how is the taste actually with both flavors? Thanks for sharing! will make this next, and I'm a new subscriber to your channel. Yippy
Thank you! It’s about eating less meat for me. Going on 4 years of not eating pork, beef, or chicken. I feel less inflammation and most importantly, I no longer get migraines 🤔👍🏼🤗
This time just boil your seitan and when it gets cooked, immerse in ice cold water. You will see the difference in texture. Then freeze for 48 hours or more in ziplock bag. Just thaw out those many sticks that you need.
I love your videos. The brisket looks incredible. I'm making it this weekend for sure. Haha you know it's a premium flour when the bag says "premium flour" on it. 😂 Like Arco's AmPm "Top Tier Gas."
Thanks for the thorough video. It was very helpful. The only thing that was distracting to me was the funky music, but that is a personal preference. I got the link from the FB group . Thank you. I am encouraged to try this.
This looked so absolutely yummy I subscribed after watching for a few minutes. I will definitely try this. Question though. Do you think I would achieve the same consistency using whole wheat flour?
Gurllll .. that was absolutely amazing! I've seen seitan boiled to get that texture, but I've never seen it the way you made it. The flavoring of the 'meat' portion was just brilliant. It's time consuming, but boy, this just looks so delicious. Did you use the starchy water for the batter? It's a basic tempura mixture from the looks of it. Takes 3 days to make and 2 minutes to eat, but I'll bet it's worth it. Thanks for posting. Greetings from The Netherlands.🌹
I watch this video a few times before, just for learning how to wash seitan. Few months after, It's Christmas and I'm the only vegan, so I decided to make fried chicken. This slaps bro!!
