Sad Walrus Some do because it's really healthy. It has A LOT of nutrition that everyone needs regardless of whether you're vegan or not. And some do because it tastes really good. And it's not just a vegan thing lol. My parent's are not vegan but they use it on a lot of their foods because of it's nutrition and it's cheese flavor. The cheese flavor is good in pastas.
I have made vegan mac and cheese without nutritional yeast and it's quite honestly the best mac and cheese I've ever had. It's the VegNews "Best Mac and Cheese Ever" and I promise you, they didn't lie.
You needed to put lemon juice and nutritional yeast in it dude. You also could have used tofu. And for my final comment dried fruit is a sub for eating, not in things.
Matthew The Neko Boy it's buzzfeed recipes trying the rules are no changing the recipe cuz if he changed it he will not know if the original tastes good
Yeah but that wasn't in the actual buzzfeed recipie. I agree that nutritional yeast would be good in it since it tastes like cheese. Once again though, buzzfeed didn't put it in their Mac and cheese.
uhm.. those cashew substitutes are meant for when you're BAKING with them. like SWEET things. thought you'd figure not to put cranberries in mac n cheese.
I have a nut allergy too and people don't seem to understand what that means. I can't have food that may contain nuts. I can't have foods made in the same facility as nuts. I can't have foods that were prepared on a surface or in a bowl that had previously had nuts. It is so tedious and annoying to keep track of, but I've learned to deal with it.
Rlly? I don't have any allergies but I had a friend who was allergic to peanuts and she ate stuff like m n m's all the time. She had an epi pen and everything too so it's not like she wasn't severely allergic.
It's exactly like that with gluten intolerance, I've had it for over 13 years and you really have to explain people what it takes to cook a meal that is "safe" for me
Monique Wilmoth nah. MoreSaltPlease's roasted garlic vegan mac and "cheese" with barbecue mushroom slices is the best recipe yet! EDIT: Oh, I forgot it has cashews...
@@onks1796 yeah it's not cheese. Calling it vegan cheese doesn't make it any form of cheese. What is it with vegans and trying to imitate non-vegan food? You're vegan, you don't eat cheese, stop trying to fool yourself into thinking you're eating it.
Cheap Tactics i’m not even vegan but i have respect for vegans, unlike you. not all vegans are toxic. and vegans can also eat junk food without animal products, they don’t eat salads all the time
when you looked up substitutes for cashews obviously it won't give you subs for a dish like this, it looks like it meant for trail mixes and things like that. try one of the vegan Mac n cheeses that uses just potatoes (I recommend Nina and Randas)
I have a nut allery too. Hulled sesame seeds works the best with this recipe. I also put soy butter, liquid bragg's aminos, nutritional yeast flakes, and diaya cheddar cheese. Delicious!!!!
I really liked this video. I'm not vegan, nor do I have a but allergy but I think it could be useful for people who may be both and let's be real, I love all of your videos
I think the fact that you went so far for your fans and created dishes with substitutes despite the difficulty involved says a lot about your character. Your channel is one of my favorites on youtube. I love your personality, your humor, and your willingness to try things over again if you think you didn't do well enough, as well as your tendency to give something the benefit of the doubt. Stay awesome, David!
nutritional yeast was sadly lacking from all these ridiculous recipes XD honestly, I don't think the cashew replacement article he found had mac and cheese in mind
the recipe didn't call for nutritional yeast??? That's just about the only thing that'll give it a "cheesy" flava! Still, great video. And kudos for taking a walk on the vegan side:-)
I'm vegan and I hate all the vegan Mac and cheese recipes. You said it correctly... If you try to call it a Mac and cheese you're gonna be disappointed. Thanks for trying despite your nut allergy!
yo, you just haven't found a good one! I have one I make on occasion that I love! BUT, if you used to love boxed mac, Earth Balance now has both a "cheddar" and "white cheddar" boxed mac if you can find it in a store, and they're not bad.
I’m sick at home watching baby David. I’ve been subscribed for a super long time ... maybe even 2 years and you’re the only RU-vidr that makes me happy when I’m sick.
I think I did this...I remember some kind of bake with blueberries, and I used a nice challah, heavy cream (and I used an unsweetened French vanilla creamer too for an extra hit), vanilla...I made it 2x, both came out great!
I basically just watched all your buzz feed videos, and on almost all other buzz feed videos they really don't know what they're doing when they're cooking, so you can tell why they screwed. up, but you're really good! you definitely gained a subscriber!
Cooking with plants has several recipes for nut free cheeses and sauces. You could have also substituted the cashews with a roasted red pepper, mashed pumpkin, butternut squash, tahini, soaked sunflower seeds, oil ( one youtuber used popcorn oil), or vegan butter. I personally prefer the vegetables or tahini especially if you are watching your fat intake.
Saw this video in the recommended section on YT and I'm glad I clicked! Literally just went through your whole Buzzfeed playlist. You're so easy to watch, and I may or may not have a thing for accents (however slight they might be) hahha. SUBBED! 🤓
Many of them are not very good, that's why. Daiya is good pending on what you're putting it in, but most of the other brands aren't very good, especially if you have a good recipe for something to replace it.
Some people can't get it where they live, or they are trying to me healthy I guess. I don't know. Vegan cheese is everything to me so I don't know lol.
One time I asked in a big supermarket if they had vegan cheese and they didn't even know what I was talking about. The closest thing to vegan cheese I've seen where I live was "quefu" (queso means cheese in Spanish, so it's like queso and tofu) and it tasted like salted tofu and didn't even melt. I wish I had access to vegan pizza, vegan lasagna, vegan ice cream, and all that crap, but that simply doesn't exist here.
"This corner is faker than Prank Invasion" Bwaaahahahahaha x'D Well played sir, well played xD Cranberries are not a good substitute for cashwes in this recipe. You should've just left everything out and use a little less water. Nutritional yeast would've been another important ingredients. Pine nut or hemp seeds would've worked, too, if you're not allergic to them.
his mom is so cute!!!! so pretty and looks young af ! also .. i seen other people try this recipe with the cashews and they all said it was badddd so dont worry lol
+Kidblinks he did and it said to use cashews, but he is allergic to cashews. So he googled cashew substitutes and cranberries were one of the things that came up.
+caitlyn lamb He could have used a potato-based vegan cheese sauce recipe (similar to his last recipe) with nutritional yeast and it would have tasted better.
So true, and then people assume that's what all vegan food is like, and equate vegan food to gross food. There's is so much delicious vegan food you can make. The vegan mac and cheese I make tastes yummy, it also has more nutrition than regular mac + cheese, and is super quick to make. Obviously putting cranberries in a mac and cheese recipe isn't going to taste good..
I literally watched all 20 of these buzzfeed test videos today lol. I love this! On the one episode where u say u will expand to more than buzzfeed videos, maybe that could be another series? Because I really enjoy these :) you should do the barbecue grape jelly meatballs from buzzfeed. Also, if u r going to expand to new cooking places, Popsugar on RU-vid has good ones. Long comment wow
i'm a meat eater but sometimes i really like vegetarian & vegan food, and imo the more the food tries to imitate meat/animal products, the worse it gets. just let the food be itself, stop trying to make it into something it's not
Bruh tell that to McDonald's "chicken" nuggets. Why would you care if there's fake meats, especially if it tastes the same and is better for the environment?
I couldn't ever be Vegan because I'm very allergic to coconuts. I won't die, but I get swollen up, itchy, and the sores bleed. Almost every vegan recipe involves coconut oil or water or milk. :(
+Laura Eimre I meant they use it instead of milk and stuff. I can't have nuts because they make my mouth itchy (not sure if that's normal) and coconut milk is the other option. Plus the butter...
+Laura Eimre (soy milk is amazing!!!) just wanted to say. I am vegetarian transitioning to vegan so I've tried a lot. completely recommend and I am a picky eater
As a vegan who loves this series of yours, I enjoyed this (: I can also confirm that there are actually many different vegan mac and cheese alternatives that actually taste like the real thing!
my twin is allergic too and I'm not. Odd but, that is because we were born in 2 different sacs. 😊 and my brother can't have any type of nut either. One time he wanted to eat an almond joy, so when he got ahold of one, he took the nut out of it and hid it from our mom. she later found it and said she was glad he did this instead of forgetting about the nut and eating it
