Vegan pulled pork using jackfruit is something I’ve made before when catering to friends who were not meat eaters.
Vegan pulled pork, or my version of it has fooled so many of my meat eating friends.
So what exactly is it? It is Jackfruit, the canned young variety and once smoked, seasoned and sauced, you would be hard pressed to know it wasn’t pulled pork, as the texture is so close.
As with all my recipes I run through the selection, preparation, seasoning, BBQ set up, times and temps, so you can recreate this recipe at home.

5 x 400gram (14oz) cans of jackfruit
Pork Rub:
4 tsp smoked paprika
3 tsp brown sugar
1 & ½ tsp salt flakes
1 tsp black pepper finely ground
½ tsp ground cumin
½ tsp mustard powder
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
¼ tsp cayenne powder
BBQ Sauce:
1 cup ketchup
1 cup apple juice
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
½ cup brown sugar
4 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp garlic powder
3 tsp onion powder
1 tsp kosher salt
½ tsp finely ground black pepper
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
