For someone who’s been vegan for almost 9 years, she is 100% correct. I’ve spent almost this entire time feeling like complete shit physically and, like her, I reached a point of complete exhaustion, severe mental fog, diarrhea every time I passed stool, depression, anxiety; my hair was thinning to the point of having my hairline recede due to all my hair falling out…it was horrible. I was also developing T2 diabetes! However, I was eating all processed and greasy foods, sodas, dyes and chemicals, and ungodly amounts of sugar in all the candy I consumed. In February of this year, I switched my diet to an oil-free whole foods plant based diet and everything changed almost overnight. It’s only been about 4 months since I’ve been eating only whole foods in their natural form without cheating and I feel better than I have since I was a kid. My skin looks vibrant and full of color, my moods are great, I can think clearly, the black circles under my eyes have disappeared, I look years younger, my hair has grown back and is full and thick again, I have the energy to hike for miles without getting tired and even have the energy to workout, which I’ve always been too lazy and unmotivated to do. I never thought that I’d have a nice, strong body, but I’m quickly working towards just that! I sleep great and wake up well rested even if I stay up late and only get a few hours of sleep. On top of all of that, I’m no longer developing diabetes! I think so many vegans like Shannen and myself make ourselves ill by the food we consume, and many go back to eating animal products because they think it’s the vegan diet that’s made them feel so weak and frail, but truthfully, it’s not the lack of animal products that has done this, it’s all the junk food they’ve consumed. Just because food is vegan, doesn’t mean it’s healthy. We become weak and ill when we’re malnourished. When we eat whole plant foods in their natural forms unadulterated with additives, preservatives, chemicals, dyes, plant/seed oils, etc., we nourish our bodies which allows them to function at full capacity. Obviously, this post is wholly anecdotal, but it’s been my own experience as a sickly vegan who’s changed his entire health and world for the absolute best. Whether you’re a vegan or a carnivore, I wish whoever reads this feels amazing and is blessed with great health, happiness and fulfillment.

Like my consciousness was sitting deep inside my brain behind a thick veil of smoke. Those last few symptoms were the most concerning to me as I felt like my mind was slipping away. I didn’t know if it was a mental illness I was developing or a vitamin deficiency or something more serious but it’s a very scary feeling. The doctors said there was nothing wrong, that I’m healthy and they don’t know why I’m feeling this way. They just said my iron was low but I was born anemic so that was no surprise. Did everything I could with my vegan diet, eating more protein, Whole Foods, plants with nutrients but the symptoms kept getting worse. Long story short, I found out it was my diet and have been feeling better since I slowly started introducing animal products back into my diet. It started last month with fish and dairy. This month I started eating chicken and eggs again. I have cried multiple times because of how good I feel and because I have the energy to live life again. To be me again. I’m still recovering as whatever is going on took seven years to develop and will take time to fix, but the way I feel now is a strong confirmation that I’m made the right decision no matter how hard it was to reconcile in my mind that I was leaving a lifestyle I was so passionate about for a long time. I’m not saying it’s impossible to be a healthy vegan. I’m just saying it doesn’t work for everyone and I never thought I would be one of those people. I think my history with anemia played a huge role in why veganism doesn’t work for me. But I’m happy it works for you. I wish I could say the same.
there's a carnivore farmer lady who still jumps over fences to wrestle her bulls. Oh... she's also 86 and looks at least 20 yrs younger. I suppose being a farmers daughter wouldn't be so bad.
I was vegan for years and was convinced it was the right thing to do, but one day I started to lose my hair, nails and my skin was becoming gray… oh wait that never happend Im still vegan and unaffected by the curse of of the crop god. Honestly just see a doctor if you have health issues but dont make it out as if eating your greens are making you sick. There is 100 ways to eat plantbased and you can still avoid animalproducts and follow some diet restrictions as well.
Haha I guess my wife and I are special for being vegan for 7 years and not experiencing any of that. You can also eat local as a vegan as it is not a requirement to eat non sustainable foods. You just explained your experience, not veganism.
@@tomasagustinveravicentin7789 Better start researching more unbiased sources on veganism. People need to really wake up here in America. This was never just a trend for recent years. Other countries were miles ahead of us on this before it was mainstream years ago. I think you need to wake up because you pretty much proven that you know nothing about long term ideal human nutrition.😆
Embrace meat. Meat has certain nutrients that plants don’t We’re omnivores, not herbivores So don’t give up plants, but don’t give up meat too. Both are necessary in an every day diet.
I strongly DISAGREE: A lot of people going Vegan don't follow through into their diet. Hence they DISMALLY FAIL at their 1st prolonged attempt. Then use social media to discredit Veganism Due to their lack of research before attempting the diet. In addition, they are unwilling & impatient to substitute what they have cut out from their previous diet (meat diet). If you can't afford to hire a professional qualified CHEF. I've been vegan for about 10 years and have never had to deal with 90%+ of the things she just listed. Perhaps she wasn't getting all the right nutrients or maybe something else was at play with her health, but just straight-up writing all those problems off on veganism and declaring it a scam is baffling, to say the least.
I've eaten meat my whole life, and I genuinely can't remember the last time I've eaten a whole, unprocessed fruit or vegetable. The closest I've came is things like apple pie and french fries. My diet is mostly made up of fatty fried foods, energy drinks, soda, meat, cheese, and hard liquor. I feel strong, healthy and energetic. It's called "being in your twenties."
@@vegan-rising People my age who are vegan are already breaking down. They need a cabinet full of pills just to feel "ok" whereas I still feel great. What does that say about their diet?
@@Otakupatriot117 it basically says nothing. have you looked at any of the actual science or you're just talking out of your ass? anecdotal claims are meaningless. the reality is vegans aren't the ones lining up at the hospitals. there is no health epidemic that is caused by eating a whole foods plant-based diet. and no, we don't take cabinets full of pills. B12 is pretty much the only supplement I take.

If it was the correct diet you wouldn’t need to balance nutrients idiot. You could literally live off any animal based food because they are all perfectly balanced.
@@drumusic5665 Nothing against veganism in general, but the truth is also that there are lots of people with similar experiences. As long as there are no long-term studies (20 years +) that proof the opposite I will continue eating animal products like humans did for the last 500.000 years.
Veganism is not a diet, is a lifestyle, meaning the products that you also purchase for your hygiene as well, visiting a zoo would be anti vegan as well and etc
@@DanteLikesRock: Blatantly false nonsense. For 99% the past 5 millions of years, the only scant evidence there is of meat-eating in humans is the occasional scavenging of some bones, and not only was that mostly by distant cousin human species that diverged from us, but some of those bone markings have in later times been found to actually have been from crocodiles. It's only with the advent of effective projectile weaponry a measly ~50,000 years ago that humans started hunting in any significant capacity, due to migrating out of our natural habitat and having to resort to toxic garbage like dead animal remains just to survive. That is needless to say not even remotely enough time (it's a negligible blip of time in an evolutionary context) to alter our physiologies in any meaningful way, which evolved over tens of millions of years in the rainforest. We also see very clearly that humans share virtually zero physiological traits with carnivores or omnivores, which are much more physiologically similar to each other than they are to us. So the idea that humans are natural meat-eaters is just total nonsense, it has zero basis in reality.
And you don’t feel guilty for all the animals that die in order for you to eat vegans? You’re an absolute hypocrite. There’s no human food without killing animals so stop with the holier than thou attitude.
the fact that there are only vegans in the top comments and hundreds of billions of meat eaters in the replies shows something only vegans have the brain power to comprehend
I was depressed on a meat-based diet and at least knowing I'm not contributing to animal agriculture is making me feel better. Eating citrus helps too. Veganism feels like an endless summer.
Until it doesn’t anymore… Humans are omnivores. Plants are good for fasting… but it can easily cause gut problems for most people and nutritional deficiencies. You feel good abstaining from shit quality processed foods and animal foods. However, high quality animal foods which we should eat are very nourishing.
@@schuylergeery-zink1923 if you want to consume cholesterol, hormones, etc. Look - 4.5 years in and it continue to help me feel better. Please don't speak for me. Humans are folivore-frugivores that turned into omnivores. Obviously not every plant is suitable and edible for us - again just leaves and fruit (and some flowers are acceptable). If you're eating anythign else - it's not suitable for your body. That doesn't make meat suitable - as that gave me severe gut issues. That's how you get colorectal cancer and kidney damage. We're not meant to eat animal proteins - only plant ones. And the only people in my family that have nutrition deficiencies are meat eaters. Why? because those vitamins come from bacteria and when tehy're killed off with antibiotics (you're eating that too) - you don't get the nutrients those bacteria make. Why not just eat that bacteria and their byproducts directly? Why complicate matters and everything? Also even if what you say is true about 'nourishing' (which plants can do too) - doesn't mean it's good for the planet or animals. Maybe you get a meal out of it - but if you kill teh planet and all the life around you - you won't have sustenance for long!

my hair fell out when I was vegan because I worked at a warehouse that always caught on fire due to toxic chemicals - washing hair in water led to the hair falling out. After I left, my hair grows back but not as well as it once did.
Veganism sort of is because mainstream veganism is extreme with the claims and statements they make, distort or stretch things, because most people wouldnt try it if you didnt. I understand being passionate about what you believe to be morally right, but you have to be honest with people. If they join for the wrong reasons theyll eventually get disillusioned and leave anyway. Then when they do they get viciously attacked. Nobody wins from this tactic.
