When the Treasure Island removed the pirate show, that was the beginning of the end of the Las Vegas strip legacy. I predict the volcano 🌋will be gone forever.
I was just in Vegas with a friend who wanted to see the volcano one last time, who hadn't been in Vegas for 20+ years. It was being covered with the mountain construction. She was so disappointed. (And don't get me started on how the roads are a total mess, except what was resurfaced for the F1....)
I'm so glad I got to come to vegas in 2022 and saw the Mirage, and the Volcano one last time! I was so sad when a cab driver told me they were totally changing it up and getting rid of the volcano! 😢😡
You have to understand, all of the attractions in Vegas are corporate advertising props, entirely paid for by businesses trying to promote themselves, and are not protected or sacred in any way. They are free to be built, changed, modified, covered or torn down at the discretion of the interests that own them. They are not public works, and the people have no say in the matters concerning them. I know what I am saying here is not popular, and I expect replies to this extent, but it is the truth about Las Vegas.
I was under the impression that construction of the guitar shaped tower would start this year. If that is the case, I don't see why they would restore the volcano. No big loss, everything has its day in Las Vegas

Yes, those wraps are so annoying. When I stayed at Treasure Island in 2019, the ad wrap was over my window. The hotels need to inform people if their view will be obstructed. Advertising is important, but the methods can certainly be less intrusive while still being noticeable.
yes, Mgm grand has had a wrap on the back side of the hotel for years.. it is view obstructive more at night. It is for sure noticeable fir sure. makes the room colder. I woulndt have stayed on the wrap side if i knew it
On Extended several weeks long with family here now after living here 8 ok years. Finally took a roaming day out at strip, lot of walking. Not interested in returning after I leave.
The Super Bowl is the single biggest one day sporting event in the world. Just like the Olympics, cities are begging to host the SB. The economics are just too great to the local economy to pass on Las Vegas was built to host such events and all that goes with it, look at the NFL draft, 300K+ 😮 The F1 race was the same, a draft with no sports had the same attendance then an actual race!!!🤯 The SB in LV will draw about 450, 500K to LV😮 The NFL is king compared to f1 in revenue and its fan base. Calm down LV lovers as week after the SB your views of the Fountains will be back as the strip as well, its all good man! As far as the resort wraps, stayed at Luxor with a wrap and did not bother me as the room was a place to shower and sleep. What does bother me is the fugly it spreads all over the building on the outside, like the current Dorito/Luxor wrap..🤮 Mirage volcano is a goner, unfortunately but it is change that keeps Las Vegas current and a destination city.... Also do you own stock in Resorts World as you seem to mention them at ever chance you can?? Great content as usual!
I stayed at the Luxor 3 yrs ago with a wrap. Ruined the view during the day looking through dots, could see city lights at night. It rained one night and could see absolutely nothing!
Yeah, stayed at the D Downtown which has a wrap and I wasn't able to take photos of our view because of that. I won't be staying there again but because of the loud bass until 2 am and I'd rather be sleeping by then.
Destroying the mirage volcano isn't as offensive to me as the constant construction of mega resorts with high end dining, outrageously priced rooms, $50 resort fees and no place to get steak and eggs at 2 a.m. does. When I come to town, I gamble, drink and eat. I don't need an opulent room. All I'm gonna do there is shit, shower and sleep. What i DO need though, is a decent place to eat at a decent price, that I don't have to take an Uber to. Whoever came up with the hair brained idea to close the 24 hour coffee shop and replace it with corporate fast food options, ought to be flogged. That's the end of my rant. I will soon be in town again, I'm sure. Vegas is like my 2nd home.
The Super Bowl is a corporate event. All 32 teams get share of tickets. All broadcasting networks get their share of tickets. All Major sponsors get their share of tickets. By the time all tickets are distributed only 1% of seats will become available to purchase y raffle. Which you have to place large deposit 3 years before the game. Or you can pay $10k plus to attend in person
What about the people that bought a PSL for the Raiders? I wonder if they are part of tue count. There are 55,000 PSL licenses. I honestly don’t know if they are entitled to seats for Super Bowl.
Super bowl 58 is very important to Las Vegas' legacy. It will take less time to build and tear down for the Super Bowl than it did for Formula One. More people watch the Super Bowl and its promotion than Formula One.
I just don't like seeing the Luxor as a big Dorito chip. I think it is such a beautiful building. And, with all the advertising, portions of the Vegas strip look like a giant mall.--Great content in this video! That's always the case, Steven! 👍
I was in Vegas in November and it looked like a construction zone. As far as I'm concerned they blew it. The highlights of the strip are hidden from view - no fountains, no volcano, etc. I'm devastated how they have ruined Las Vegas. Steve, I have a question. Will there be any time of year that you know of when the fountains will be fully visible again? That would be the time I would want to visit again. It's like the old song they took paradise and they made it a parking lot.
I wish they'd demolish the Venetian and replace with a mega-replica of the original Sands....with a 2000 ft., 20,000 room hotel behind it, of course. 😁😁
We are long time residents and what’s happening in this city is unrecognizable. The days of having a day out fun are gone. We haven’t visit the strip in years. The days of the Ride of River of the Nile, MGM Great Adventure, Treasure Island Pirate Show & the Mirage Volcano gone to never come back. The city is turning out to be a city of Greed & expendable not for the every day folk. We are looking to move.
I saw the Mirage being built. The volcano was the most ultimate thing ever on Vegas strip at the time. It is still great. Seen it many times over the years. One time from my hotel window looking right at it every night from Harrahs. I will hate to see it gone. Hardrock had a casino here and sold it.. Vegas tears down history when all other cities save history. It is all about the money now and has been for several years..
It's funny how upset people are about about change on the strip. Vegas is an ever changing city, more than likely you're favorite property on the strip is built from the rouble of another person's favorite property previously in its place. It once was upsetting to me as well, I remember the opening of Treasure Island. I was 21, got off work at Caesars Palace, but knew I wouldn't get home do to the event of the night. You see that night at the opening of Treasure Island the 1st pirate show they blew up the Desert Inn to make way for the Bellagio. At least the volcano is being replaced with something, so many others were torn down or blown up and turned into a dirt or parking lot. Hotels aren't the only ones that get get this treatment in Vegas. There is a neighborhood behind Palace Station that was torn down to make way for more of the Area 15 development project.
I stayed in the Mirage in one of their suites and had the Beatles Cirque wrap on the window. It definitely detracted from the view and was kind of annoying. Great room and great stay overall though.
Steven please address an article i saw online about the Tropicana Hotel/Casino changing. To my way of thinking Tropicana is one of the remaining anchors to stay and gamble on the L.V. Strip.

Buffets are not dead or gone in Las Vegas. There are 13 left and they are all busy. Some were replaced with the new and trendy food halls. They are very popular with the younger demos who relate to the food hall concept.
Las Vegas wanted the Super Bowl and now you've got it and all that comes with it. The NFL & the networks come in advertise, build their stages, host events, and when the game is over they clear out their stuff and move on to the next host city. Can't blame the NFL, F1, MLB while turning a blind eye to casino owners, the LVCVA and the Clark County Commissioners.
Well, but think about it. Are there really any Vegas icons? They all disappear with time, given enough of it, due to how Vegas is all about reinventing itself to keep itself going and the money flowing in. So, nah, no real Vegas icons. Even the beautiful sexy girls, with time, turn ugly and unattractive with STD started cancers….. that may sound brutal, but in a way, Vegas itself is kind of a brutal place just covered with glimmer and shining objects….
Because people tend to chase the negative. It’s unfortunate. I’ve split tested my videos and when they change to something like this the views spike and at lease people click the videos.
Trust me, you do NOT want to live in an Olympic city in the years leading up to the event. You really don't! The Olympic Committee comes in runs and takes over then leaves.
