Yusuke is well written through his relationships and dynamics. His relationships every member of team Urameshi is different and fleshed out. And even though Yusukes attributes are common in manga his personality and how he expresses himself definitely stands out even amongst his character type

John is right. Toriyama wanted to end DBZ with Gohan being the main character after the Cell Saga but they received hella backlash from fans and brought Goku back in the Buu saga.

@@adolfdrippler243 idk I definitely think there is a HARD Goku bias. He doesn’t really have character development he has strength development. He’s the same as he was when he was a kid which is typical of Shonen heroes. Naruto, Goku, Luffy. I love the shows and the characters in there shows, but as far as “writing” they are basic characters. They’re all dumb and strong, but show smart tactics to win fights, with Naruto being the smartest. They aren’t well written because they literally never change they have no dynamic. I think majority of people are simple and therefore they think these characters are great. Kind of like radio music.

@@adolfdrippler243 I think when it comes to the specific topic of “best” is where people have a problem. It’s hard to separate from favorite. A lot of times a villain is the more well written character, but people will say the hero is the best character and forget that the villain made the show just as good. If you think about it, most bad seasons of something usually have a bs villain

Trigun never gets mentioned… vash was insanely well written. His character was amazing from his morals to his personal ideals. Also living a life of constant chaos but always hiding his pain in jokes is insanely tough. Still protecting everyone around him even if the person is after his life, remarkable alone

He was basic. I watched the show because i liked his character design, but he was boring af. And literally a shounen template character. Idk who came first between trigun or rurouni kenshin but both main characters had the same personality.

@@akumamakima2280 I think kenshin came first because it was based off history and a novel. The characters share the same characteristics. Vash is passive and feels guilt because he’s of an incident not his fault and other background issues. Kenshin is passive and hesitant to fight because he actively wants to feel remorse for his killings when he was younger. It’s similar to what Vinland saga develops into.

I love the way you guys debate. John is always trying to be reasonable, Ben always has a point when he's done with the foolishness, Dylan ends up getting swayed and corrupted on his choices, Leeland is proven wrong, Desmond quietly pulls on his beard until someone says something he don't like and he turns into Vegeta, and Mark is the Gatekeeper of ALL knowledge who very passionately defends what he knows to be the truth

Vegeta's sacrifice against Buu still hurts to this day! Despite not many characters actually developing throughout DB, Vegeta has and continues to impress me each and every arc. Starting off as a villain, turning into a antihero and then finally standing by Goku's side as a TRUE hero. The man really found love and peace with his family. Characters like Vegeta helped me go outside my bubble and even attempt to write a comic series myself!

Epic debate! just one correction... Aizen's end goal was to overthrow the Soul King. To do that he needed tremendous power, enough to fight and easily defeat the royal guard and the soul palace itself. The Hougyoku was merely a means to an end.

So his influence is a great argument unlike goku and vegeta cuz their popularity level is like 53/47 but character wise vegeta like 70and goku 30 so you can’t just pick goku of that. Vegeta wouldn’t be shit without Goku. 1) Saves his life When he first met Vegeta he saved his life and allowed us to see his character development 2) Vegeta was changed by Goku’s personality and made him into a family man. 3) Goku changes everyone he meets. He should most definitely be on this list with no argument to be made

Vegeta has flaws, he has emotions, you can see how raw he is, you can see glimpses into his soul that he doesnt want you to see. He's prideful, he's arrogant, but he can put it aside too. This dude is complex and he's an underdog to Goku, but he has heart and always strides to be better than goku. Vegeta's ego is so lovable because I don't have to share a universe with him and fear that he's going to let some asshole power up. Goku is just a foolish, lovable, hand of justice, voice of the weak mofo who wants to fight 24/7. Vegeta is a multi dimensional complicated dude that I can relate to.

By Mark's same logic, for a character like Itachi who only had 40 episodes out of a possible 700 of screen time to gain so much popularity, influence, acclaim, and widespread love should put him in the top 5. I genuinely think that Itachi is a better character than Naruto.
