Patrick McNamara spent 22 years in the United States Army in a myriad of special operations units. When he worked in the premier special missions unit, he became an impeccable marksman, shooting with accurate, lethal results and tactical effectiveness.
McNamara has trained tactical applications of shooting to people of all levels of marksmanship, from varsity level soldiers, and police officers who work the streets to civilians with little to no time behind the trigger. His military experience quickly taught him that there is more to tactical marksmanship than merely squeezing the trigger.
Utilizing his years of experience, McNamara developed a training methodology that is safe, effective, and combat relevant and encourages a continuous thought process. This methodology teaches how to maintain safety at all times and choose targets that force accountability, as well as provides courses covering several categories, including individual, collective, online, and standards.
While serving as his Unit's Marksmanship NCO, he developed his own marksmanship club with NRA, CMP, and USPSA affiliations. Mac ran monthly IPSC matches and ran semi annual military marksmanship championships to encourage marksmanship fundamentals and competitiveness throughout the Army. He retired from the Army's premier hostage rescue unit as a Sergeant Major and is the author of T.A.P.S. (Tactical Application of Practical Shooting) and Sentinel.

For those of us in the mountains, don't forget that many (most) water filters should not freeze. Their effectiveness drops significantly. If you leave your go-bag with a water filter in your car in the winter, you need to get an MSR Guardian or some other non-fiber filter.

For this reason (among others) I like to use the SteriPEN. Just keep in mind if you carry it, it is subject to battery failure so you need to ensure its charged, which is a consideration in a vehicle based ready kit that will likely sit idle for many months

Water filter has it's place but is not the right choice for a bag like this. Better choice is chlorine purification tabs like Aquatabs. Or maybe iodine tabs which can also be used to make a wound disinfecting solution. Just my 2c. Sorry P-M.

Very few folks with his level of training should be allowed on scene of any emergency for any reason. They should give you a real bat signal. unless of course you don't want no one to bother you which is just as tragic. It’s super interesting to me that all of the people I’ve seen who make vehicle prep videos that have a pickup truck, don’t have an in bed tool box. For roughly 300 bucks it’s well worth it for having the extra lockable storage space. They provide a ton of extra storage space. In mine I have things like a; Tow strap, all sorts of had tools, come-a-long, sleeping bag, food, water, 12V vehicle jack, ratchet straps, vehicle emergency parts kit, 1/2 mask with extra filters, coveralls, cordage, rain gear, bolt cutters, tie wire, zip ties, Ammo, get home bag and more. Every storage space in the inside is occupied with preparedness items also. It’s taken years to assemble but I’ve always have on hand anything I needed. My vehicle is always near me so it makes sense to have in it what you might need to keep going.

I also care a two foot breaker bar with a socket that fits tire lug nuts as it is much easier to persuade a stubborn lug nut with two feet of leverage than those dinky little tire tools that come with most cars. But having a two foot steel rod works for other things as well, persuaded a faulty starter motor on a coworkers truck to turn over and get him to a repair shop.

Its one thing to be a "good samaritan" its another thing when you start injecting things into other peoples bodies. Just know if you should do this you will be breaching the "good samaritan" law in most states. As a career Firefighter/paramedic, I highly advise people to know and understand your states laws that cover this as well as obtain the required training to perform said skills in an emergency situation. When a pt. is in a life or death situation and looking into your eyes for help you will understand the gravity of the situation you put yourself into. Be sure to be what the patient thinks you are! You may be all they have. Good video sir.

One thing that has stayed with us from operating vehicles in hostile areas, alway have easy access to the spare tire. Never pack any type of gear/equipment on top of the damn tire if it’s stored inside the vehicle. Also a good jack that will get the vehicle up high enough with equipment still inside of it, along with a 4-Way lug wrench or battery powered impact wrench if possible.

I'll add a Halligan, fire extinguisher, and bolt cutters. I saw a guy use a set to cut a chain link fence and get a bunch of people out of a wild fire they were trapped by on a highway. We have lots of flood control channels in So Cal that have service roads blocked by locked gates. A set of cutters might just get me off the main roads and home in a SHTF situation. I know where all the flood channels go. I also carry plastic trash bags, space blanket, and zip ties. My stuff is balanced between day to day travel and back country off road trips. I would like to see a basic vehicle set up or pros/cons of vehicles choices video, mostly related to a SHTF situation. I have some thoughts about that.

Well I never drove around with an AR because I lived and live in places where that's illegal. But I had most of that stuff and more because I figure if I go to the time and expense to lug stuff around to address a potential emergency, that emergency _will never happen._ It's a belief that's worked surprisingly well over the years. I'll add that he should pack (and probably _does_ but they're so damn common he forgot to mention them) reflective road triangles, a gallon of radiator fluid, a gallon of window wash fluid, a pump or compressor for the tires, tire chains, a windshield scraper, an entrenching tool, a blanket, a some rags, WD-40, a good water resistant winter jacket, winter gloves, work gloves, a towel, a couple pairs of socks, electrical tape, bug juice, and sun screen. Though he has a flashlight, one of those flashlights on a headband is more convenient.
