Mine is a 99. I take it to Matagorda beach in Texas. Walks the DRY, DEEP sand like it's a paved road, while 4x4 trucks are getting stuck, as they PRETEND not to notice this little TIME CAPSULE dum-diddy-dum-dum, right passed them! I also drive it from Bay City TX where I live, to Corpus Christi tX, where I work, weekly. Luv My Vehicross!!!!!!!!!!!!
Though I did take that VehiCROSS on Moab's trails 2 years in a row while it was 100% stock, it received a few upgrades over the years. I had a small lift using OME springs in back & cranking the torsion bars in front to level it out. A Powervault cat-back exhaust paired with a K&N intake. Super Sliders. Extra skid plates. Just stuff to make it a little better, but it was great from the get go! I don't own it anymore, but wish I still did!
I was in 4 wheel low, and the VehiCROSS can handle anything a stock Wrangler can and then some. The section where I didn't want to give it the Moab bump was an angled approach, and I didn't want to risk rolling by gassing it. Lockers would help, but even with open front and limited slip rear diffs I did everything in that video including the hot tub & ledge. Jeeps are nice, but I love my VX.
This is such an awesome vehicle. Looks awesome too I really like the grey mat along the entire base, like Otterbox designed a car. Reminds me of the Mini Beachcomber concept. Would be awesome to see a 2014 or15 VX. Better looking 4x4 than anything on the market today in my opinion followed close by the 2013 range rover.
Torque sensing 4x4 is good on road. Need a rear locker at least for off road. All open diff 4x4 will spin only 2 wheels that have the least traction. I will be picking up one of these if available when my current lease vehicle is done. They have always been so quirky cool.
