It's nice to have a real narrative that relates to US construction with composition shingles instead of UK construction, where they use slate. I hate the Velux installation instructions that came with the roof window. Lot's of pictures that are hard to decipher, but no narratives whatsoever. Click here, click there! LIke trying to decipher Egyptian hieroglyphics!

I have put hundreds of these in during my time on teh roof. And this guy I definitely breaking the law by not wearing a harness. Prolly a fake roof though.

There is no appropriate climate or location where tar paper would work. Except maybe Africa. Don't skimp. Most skylight installations will eventually leak.
