Its not actually cruel. There is only one of those machines, the store that owns it keeps the fish fed and the water clean (or else no one would wnat the fish) its more like like a regular fish tank then an attraction. The over population shot does happen sometimes when the fish start breeding, but once the tank reaches capacity, fish are dead or excessive fish are taken out (also any fish that might have started eating the excessive fish)

The idea itself is a good one, but the one they showed clearly wasn't maintained, it was also a bit over crowded, but I'd like a more humane version to be a common thing, maybe with some different animals as well like certain types of crustaceans or other fish.

not really.encouraging people to get a pet on impulse is never a good idea. fish and other aquatic animals require a tank to be cycled before hand meaning you have to set up the tank at least a few weeks before getting one.then you have to choose the right fish for your tank and for most beginners a goldfish is a very bad choice cause they are a huge fish when full grown(they are supposed to get 12 inches) and they are a 10 to 20 year commitment.

Cristin Woody whilst the idea of just being able to put money in a machine and get a pet from it sounds cool, it means that anyone can do it without having checks to make sure they’re getting a pet for a suitable home and they have everything required for the animal. You’ll end up with fish being bought and then put in a small bucket of water at home, only to die a few hours later. It’s impractical and inhumane. Also, pets being purchased from stores aren’t being kept well let alone pets from vending machines. Hamsters are a common example. They need to be kept in a cage of 450sq inches with an 8inch wheel and can’t have sawdust as bedding but I bet you that 99% of hamsters as pets have tiny cages with small wheels and sawdust bedding. That’s from being sold from stores, imagine how much worse it would be getting it from a vending machine.

@@camillamsp3929 I've never seen hammsters kept like that, but the pet stores I've always gone to have kept their animals healthy, also there's no way a pet store employee can tell if the animal is going to a good home or not either, even if they ask the person people lie all the time.

I agree. you cannot just throw a fish in a bowl and call it a day. they are living breathing animals and deserve better.

As the video says, it’s probably only good to have in a pet store setting. Then someone can help you get all the necessary things to take care of your pet.

The difference is that in the pet shop they have a huge filtration system running behind the scenes. Though I still don't like the treatment of fish in petstores

I used them often while I was in school. I learned early on, to keep an assortment of change in my bag for pencils and printing. Same as in college. Im sure that may not be the norm but I loved the dispensers.

I have a dollar twenty five in quarters in my pocket every day when I go to school, we don't have a pencil vending machine though, too bad, for some reason I never have a sharp pencil when I need one.
