Thank you I'm gonna try the microwave trick today, I've had trouble with my purpleheart discoloring from using boiling water. I'll let you know how it goes!
Is there a way to fix it when it does bend/kink? I boiled mine and tried to roll it and it just doesn’t want to roll so I boiled it again and left it in the water overnight. Still would not roll flat. So frustrating. I don’t know the type of wood since it came in a large pack of multiple varieties of veneer. Thanks.
Some woods are like that to be honest, ive had a few that just wont bend without kinking or splitting so I just stick to the ones that do bend nicely, its alot of trial and error.
Hi, I am trying to bend purple geart veneer (0.6mm thick). I am having constant splitting and cracking issues, is ut the batch or is purple heart just difficult? Thanks for the video
Hi, I've not had that issue with purple heart to be honest, it could be the batch. Is it splitting and cracking as you wrap it when it's wet or when it's dry and your glueing it up?
@@hootcornwall thanks for getting back to me, I am wrapping when wet, 10 mins in boiling water , wrapping around a broom handle. It's just cracking across the grain. I have literally just finished a batch where I have had to carefully partially crack the grain every mm with round body pliers just to get it to loosely bend along the 30mm strip.
