When the Beatles performed this song they made it a more up-tempo song and you didn't really take notice how amazing the lyrics were. But when John performs it, the lyrics just hit you right in the heart. Love this performance and loved your reaction. This was a Beatles cover that the Beatles themselves said was better than theirs. If you want an original, from the same concert - You're the Voice its an unofficial anthem and still relevant to everyone, not just Aussies all these years later - it's also his nickname we affectionately call him the voice.

John shunned international exposure because he wanted to be with his wife and kids, but he did tour for a few years with The Little River Band.....the real one, not the fake one still using the name and illegally singing their songs. He also toured briefly, mostly in Europe for his international hit, The Voice......now he is known as The Voice. If you want to hear more, i recommend from this same concert - AC /DC cover of Long Way To The Top and The Voice. Or better still, his duet with Jimmy Barnes, When Something Is Wrong With My Baby, or Gethsemane from a 1990's production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Also Touch of Paradise with loyal backing vocalist Lisa Edwards, or Amazing Grace with Vanetta Fields ( and Lindsay Field ) Or a young Johnny doing Bridge Over Troubled Water..... Darn it......there is no end to 60 years of brilliance and No 1 songs and albums. 1st No 1 in 1967. Last No 1 an album about 2016....and a No 1 in every decade inbetween.
