The "truth" ending to Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain. Warning there are major spoilers in this clip. If you haven't finished TPP yet, DO NOT WATCH.
Venom is the best snake. He literally gave everything. He is true proof genetics don't matter only experience as would be proven again with solid snake. His story is very tragic.
I am the best snake I changed my life to be a wanted solider that wasent even me , but now I’m big boss and you are too , your comment is 3 months old but sorry to kept you waiting !
@@davipenha you miss the whole point of the series. From mgs1 kojima sends the message that genetics do not matter, only experience. Solid got the inferior genes and yet he won out. Venom only had memories implanted and it made him a legend. David had more in common with big boss despite not getting those superior genes because from what I gather they are of a similar spirit. The just went different paths at that fork in the road.
@Little Horn the B side of the cassette “Operation Intrude” is a reference to Metal Gear. So is the Diamond Dogs emblem changing to Outer Heaven. Big Boss dies in that game but is somehow alive in MGS4, this all implies that Venom dies in MG.
@@littlehorn3533 because he did die, have you not play the original metal gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake? The big boss we fought was not the real big boss it was venom snake
I really like the ending of MGS V. Especially when Venom Snake turns on MSX2 with "Operation N313" cassette - in some sense, Venom in the very end of the series starts the whole series again.
Kojima's game is pretty interesting, when the other games is made in a straightforward and chronological timeline, MGS is the opposite. MGS's groove is back and forth where the 3rd game is the story origin, the 4th game is the end, and the last game is actually a prequel to the first game and etc.
@@cap1841 actually this is usually due to mishaps in old franchises, they often have to go back in time to add context i.e. ac4 being set earlier than ac3 because connor and haythans background needed context, as well as ac rogue because there needed to be a reason why the american assassins chapter fell in the first place,
@@yeoss Except Ubisoft did it way too much. Never thought Spartans were just assassins with heavy armor. There were no consecutive themes in the later games, which would make you say, "how can MGSV have themes." Well, it's a Kojima game and it's there.
Anjoo Gabriell ツ Phantom Pain’s Big Boss was the medic from Ground Zero. He was surgically changed to look like the real Big Boss, his voice was changed, fake memories were implanted, and he was hypnotized. He dies in the original MG game.
@@oce1989 U can't understand the magnitude of this game. Once you realize Venom Snake is under hypnagogia and brain wash then you will understand the game and with it the reasons about the voice of BB is not played by David Hayter and other more important things than only the voice of the main guy. Even the first mission is not a real mission, Indeed Manthis had a horn (other sign about being in hypnagogia 'cause mantis), no one's known all the lure about mgsv, but a thing that everyone can be sure, Mgsv is a quite creepiest, freakiest, deepest game in the whole franchise and Kojima knew that this game was the last game, and that reason given him the right to make his masterpiece. All the bois forgot the fact that mgsv is not a simple mgs game, it's a masterpiece and you must to see all the details because you won't know what is real and what is not. It's my opinion, and to be honest, I was like you, but after watching and reading videos and articles 'bout mgsv and playing it lotta times, my only answer about how to make a game it's gon be say this game's name.
And this is the last we will ever see of 'Big Boss'. Walking into a blackness that could only be symbolizing the unknown afterlife which everyone and everything will experience. For him, this was it.
@Zovim big boss and venom are two different people they just made venom his memetic copy through plastic surgery and psychotherapy. In metal gear, the very first game in the series before metal gear solid you fight and kill venom snake at the end, then in metal gear 2 you fight Big Boss.
I actually thought that was a sound from metal gear. It sounded like an "equip/use item" sound. Figured it was the cassette player indicating the message ended
i honestly think venom by far is one of the best if not one of the strongest snakes it took guns and explosives to take down venom snake in mgs1 but it only took a self made flamethrower to take out naked snake in mgs2. idk but i think that shows how good venom truly was
Also, venom is honestly morally superior. He dreams of a world where soldiers aren't necessary, completely opposite of naked's ideals.
2 года назад
big boss got rusty that's why. He was out of the battlefield for more than 20 years, and just being a politican. Venom was on action for more years than boss ever was. Big Boss still had the superior genes but he didnt use them to its fullest extent.
Why are we comparing strength bruh Big Boss literally caught and lifted the entire weight of zeke which is supposedly 500+ tons in PW venom doesn't come close
the one who killed venom snake is solid snake because he thought that it was the real big boss and you can play the fight between v.snake and s.snake in original metal gear in msx
I am a little amazed at how the soldiers of Big Boss are always and completely loyal to their commander. Remember at least that mission in the infected zone(and even though we played for a non-real Naked all this time, the soldiers still considered us to be him). And even here, it would seem that the Big Boss erased the memory of his soldier, and changed them to his own, that is, completely destroying his own 'I'. And after that, this soldier is not angry with his Commander, he is happy about it...
That's the thing about Big Boss. His status, all the legend behind the greatest soldier of the 20th century made him an almost religious figure to soldiers all over the world, who see fight and even die for Big Boss as the greatest honor they could possibly be granted. That's exactly why Major Zero wanted to keep Big Boss on the Patriots so much, because he was this legendary icon that would benefit the Patriots so much. After all, what soldier in the world would be crazy enough to not fight in the same organization or for the same ideals as the legend Big Boss? But other thing about Venom, aside from his loyalty to Big Boss, is that he and the real Boss looked quite close to each other. Not at the level of friends, but Boss himself says that Venom was the BEST soldier in all the MSF. Having such recognition by the legend himself, it wouldn't surprise me if Big Boss perhaps took Venom under his wing during the Peace Walker Incident and they developed some mentor/pupil relation. Who knows?
how come whenever he punches a mirror he gets to see big boss but when i punch a mirror all i see is a wall and my mom shouts at me for breaking something
So for the people whos wondering why they're calling venom a "Legend" is because hear me out.. Venom is called a "Legend" because while the real BB hides and builds outer haven, venom was risking his life by baiting the real BBs enemy and fighting just so the world's thinks his the real snake which made him more of a Legend than naked snake (John/Jack/Big Boss)
He gave everything - his entire past and life to protect Big Boss’s namesake, and he carved his own path at the same time changing the world and the legacy of the Boss forever
after he flips the tape and inserts it the scene pans to a dark side behind the cassete player. the ending sound of the tape playes as the blue light flashes - alerting the imminent destruction of outer heaven. venom snake is seen with his appearance 10 years later, before he smashes the mirror out of anger and regret at where it all began, when he realizes the boss's plans as he goes out to confront snake to meet his imminent demise. he still went with his mission throughout the end, just like the original boss.
The way I've interpreted this scene is. On the back wall while big boss reveals that venom is his double, the diamond dogs logo is on the door. When he goes to put in the intrude tape the logo become and outer heaven logo. The way I see it, venom knew he wasn't big boss for about 10 years, while he was still operating diamond dogs, when we see the outer heaven logo on the door, its ten years later and venom is about to face solid snake during operation intrude. Venom sees the reflection, his counterpart, the real big boss. He sees him for what he truly is, a demon. V punches the mirror to wipe away all of that, and sees his true reflection, the non demon snake. He walks away into the darkness as he goes to take on solid snake. Thats just an interpretation.
Yes! Thank you I thought I was the only one it just feels like that's what we're seeing and with the game not being 100% complete I feel These last cutscene would have been longer especially when he punched the mirror, it's as if venom is relistening the tapes and realising he was betrayed by naked snake and was just another pawn in the boss and zeros game, knowing that big boss has sent someone I.e solid to erase him before he becomes a major threat to his plans. Venom for me is by far one of the most complex characters who's story isn't even fully fleshed out which is sad, shame on you Konami
@@spikey288 Seeing this 2 years later and I'm dead laughing. Indeed, he knew he wasn't naked... Litteraly XD Joke aside, I think that's precisely because of the dummy minds such as mine who easily get the wrong idea off of a sentence haha.
Kojima wants to breed a snake through his audience that will use his ideologies to shape the world. This is the message in all his games, he saying that ANYONE can be snake given that we do things that make us into snake. One of them being through the means of philanthropy, or the formation of a group which aligns with the sons of liberty. We as the players are venom, we created him, named him after us. Big Boss isn't talking to him, he's talking to us. The audience is being manipulated by Kojima through the means of hypnosis just like venom. we arent playing the game, the game has been playing us this whole time. Kojima wants to change the world, through the players, you will see newer and different messages within his new project death Stranding, hes trying to tie his games to other forms of expression such as music, movies, video games, persons of influence etc. we will all find out soon
@Brett Yarborough It is hard to compare these two games. MGS series was made over near two decades and surely it garnered massive audience and with that some bias. MGS is over, maybe Konami will use it in future but without Kojima it will be at best generic stealth shooter, without intricate touches and most important meta narration. DS is really fresh and about completly different topic and surely it has its own share of problems, it is not for everyone but it shows mastery of Kojima, how it is ahead and doesn't run from trying new things that in end make many people be fond of it. I enjoyed this game a lot, finished after 70 hours and still have many more things to do and find. What I wish is to see series from Kojima, now that he is man of his own he could make new series, maybe next will be horror, but surely we will see it one day.
My theory here is the Phantom Big Boss (Venom) becomes evil after the recording as you can see his reflection become bloody and his horn elongated. This would explain how evil he is in the original Metal Gear on the NES.
This sins the average person commits on a regular basis are already sometimes crushing for us to deal with. Games make it seem like nothing, but the brutality that Venom witnesses daily is so much more than you and I see. Death and pain and loss constantly, and V is made to be the perpetuator of it. Thats a heavy burden. MGS has always poked at its audience for enjoying the killing, and maybe we are just too desensitized to notice how 'evil' we become taking part in it. Just look at how V smirks when Boss tells him that he is Big Boss. Thats us smirking.
I think about 10 years pass between Phantom Pain and MG1. Considering the drama that occurred for Venom only during the events of TPP, you can imagine what kind of person you may turn into after 10 more years of that.
So this guy was a medic? Who was forced to take the identity of The Greatest Soldier of all time? Somehow a random medic can do the same things as the original Big Boss?
Camera Man Deavon while he was on a coma, Big Boss’ experiences and memories were in constant replay in venom snakes mind slowly brainwashing him into thinking those were his and that he was THE Big Boss. Big Boss specifically chose him because he was the best soldier he had with the highest potential, I’m sure he actually taught him something personally.
Phantom pain is a painful sensation that seems to come from a part of the body that no longer exists (it has been amputated due to injury or illness). Venom Snake feels the pain of losing his lost memories, replaced by the memories of Big Boss... It's like a hand that has been replaced with a biorhandle. Probably "Demon Snake" is the personification of Phantom pain... the pain of loss... soldiers, Paz, and memories. After all, 'Demon Snake' appears exactly when Venom personally kills his soldiers. And although the memories and soldiers can not be returned, Venom still gets rid of the pain when he breaks the mirror, realizing who he is.
Venom Snake BB on his story, and Naked Snake becomes a phantom, the game is about the pain of the phantom, be it Naked Snake, be it Venom Snake, forced to live as a phantom, a shadow without his own history, his own indentity, a true phantom alone with his pain.
something i also noticed is that the mirror reflection of him is like looking at a snake, because the eye patch in the reflection is the wrong side (like solid snake with the solid eye) but when he smashes the mirror out, it becomes just the image of big boss walking away into the smoke i interpret this like venom is the true big boss, in his mind at least, and maybe even kojimas. like he’s the one who actually fought in the dirt and blood with his brethren and is a true leader. the actual bit boss is a distorted version of jack that the boss (joy) would never want him to be. but venom is exactly the kind of man joy hoped he’d become.
Lol he wasnt doing nothing you know. He was trying to uncover the patriots and eventually they captured him. In mgs 4 after you destroy the final AI Big Boss is released by the patriots and explains his absence to solid.
@@solidus1995 wrong, you are mixing things, one thing is big boss going underground and placing the medic as him for the medic to get the attention and for him to work in the creation of Outer heaven, all that happened in a lapse of 11 years, from 1984 to 1995. the Outer heaven uprising happened in 1995, in that moment Big Boss was commanding Foxhound so that means at some point (who knows when) he went out of hiding, it is unknown who else knew there were 2 big bosses aside from Ocelot and Miller and Zero if he was still concious, Maybe Frank Jaeger as he was sent as a foxhound operative and then he got captured. what you are stating about the patriots capturing him was in Zanzibar Land, 4 years after what happened in Outer Heaven
I think people misunderstood this scene, the way I see it is that Venom snake is absolutely not happy with big boss at the end and him smashing the mirror shows this. I’ve always thought as the reflection as the real Big Boss staring back.
fuckin goosebumps dude, its not an exaggeration to say that this is one of the greatest moments put on screens, games, cinema, tv... what a beautiful scene
What I would have preferred is that Venom was played by Kiether and Big Boss was played by David. Also I need to know what song plays in this scene! It is so epic
I feel like it's a twist and then the game was supposed to go with a final boss battle against solid snake wich we will obviously lose and the game truly ends
I was so stunned when this scene happened. I was litterly jaw opened the whole time. It made sense why "big boss was the badguy" before. Super epic. Even though kojima was rushed as hell he still made a epic conclusion to big boss.
I looked up to you Boss. You shielded yourself with the innocent while you slithered away...leaving a hollow phantom to take your place. On one hand, I'm disgusted and betrayed... Yet on the other hand... *well played, Boss* . This may have been your most brilliant act of deception. "Snake's greatest sneak", if you will. To be placed in your shoes? There was no higher honor.
Venom snake is the big boss you face in the original NES games and i still think hes the body in mgs4, not the big boss clone from mgs2 and i also think sniper wolf is quiet who had joined shadow moses as a means to kill solid snake for killing venom snake, its why emmerich says she did what she did for love
That twist was masterfully executed from the very first time we boot Ground Zeroes to the end of Mission 50. Fits nicely in a story about the pursuit for revenge and rebuilding.
A loyalty men! A fake boss created by zero to protect the real boss but in the end, he's not mad with the boss to discover the truth. In fact is happy and feel honored to be the image of your master and mentor. Is sad in your real world we don have people like big boss, venom snake and solid snake. all fighting for a purpose, for a better future for all.
Here's what I got, big boss (naked snake) left his mark or his lingering venom to do the dirty work while building his true outer heaven. An idea distorted by naked , the boss, and maybe even the sorrow.
I always hated this storyline. It devalues Big Boss. He was the legendary soldier that killed The Boss, and did so much badass shit. They literally cloned people with his DNA in an attempt to get a soldier that could compete on his level. Then MGSV comes along and and shows us that some random medic can do it with facial surgery and silly hypnosis.
@@yatsey007 It absolutely was about genetics, lol. Have you even played these games? Solid Snake wasn't a badass because he "had experience". Neither was Liquid or Solidus.
@@AdoreYouInAshXI but it wasn't though. Boss wasn't a genetically enhanced soldier, neither was Big Boss. Both were considered the best,Solid was considered the worst yet ran rings around Solidus,Liquid and Big Boss himself. Even Venom who wasn't genetically enhanced could stake a claim at being the best. It was never genetics that pushed Solid on. His genetics were working against him making him age quicker. It was his heart and desire.
"The truth about Big Boss was riddled with exaggeration, misinterpretation and downright lies" -Eva in MGS 4 And Venom is not some random medic. If you would've actually bother listening to the Truth tapes Big Boss says that he was always the best soldier they had.
I feel like you aren’t all caught up on metal gear lore- Jack has a few badass feats but he’s a terrible person and a straight up scheming coward in his later years.
Not that sad dude had two lives one next to big boss, and one as him. What a sweet thing for the actual boss to tell the medic. He knew it was a shitty situation.
Man, MGS is such an amazing series, but story is a big part of it, so having the ending of Phantom Pain spoiled (not this video, I just randomly stumbled upon a video with a very straight forward title) was so crushing, and drained all of my motivation to play the game.
Operation Intrude N313 was in the original MG1, where Solid Snake infiltrates Outer Heaven and fights Venom Snake, thinking that he is the real Big Boss. It's most likely a briefing by Big Boss to Venom about the details of the infiltration.
@@Jack-cf7wm so tapes used to be able to transfer data to computers and was sent by certain data tones. That's part of the noise for a modem, so the tape is hooked up to the phone, and the phone is transmitting the data. That's probably the mission confirmation code to start MG1's plan
Ada yang mengatakan kalau ini prolog dari Metal Gear Solid 1, dan suara senjata dari kejauhan di awal scene itu adalah David (Solid Snake) yang sedang mencari Venom Snake
I'm confused.. do people see him as the avatar you made while venom see himself as big boss? Or does everyone see him as big boss but he's not actually. By "see" I mean like visually physically see
everyone see V as Big Boss, but no one really knows the truth, only V at the end, Ocelot at the beginning , and Miller at the beginning knows the truth. so yeah, everyone see him as big boss
As Venom stares to the mirror, he sees the demon he will need to become to finish the task passed on to him. He has merely shared the title of Big Boss. To become Big Boss, he will need to live a life of endless battle, to strip away his humanity. All in the name of vengeance. He shatters the mirror in an attempt to push his fears aside, but he can only give a new face to the Demon of Outer Heaven.
Venom Snake was the one Solid Snake killed not Naked Snake, but when Liquid Ocelot killed Snake he killed Solidus Snake not Naked Snake and when Snake killed Liquid Snake he later killed Naked Snake and thus he’s killed three snakes, Naked Snake (the big boss), Liquid Snake (his brother), and Venom Snake (his father’s other half and the Boss’s other half) make sense?
So theres a chick named boss, theres a guy named big boss, there are 2 clones named solid snake and liquid snake, there is also a naked snake, there is a fake big boss named venom snake and there is a fake solid snake named soliduh snakuh or some shit. Wtf did kojima smoke? Can someone explain who is actually who?
@@Alpaslann solid snake, liquid snake and solidus snake(I assume this is the guy who you prefer as Soliduh Snakuh)are a clone of naked snake in an attempt to recreate the world's greatest soldier(the most perfect clone is solidus snake)
We love some games due to the nostalgia it gave us and it will always be one of the best game in our mind. This game made me realise that there are some games that will connect with us, minus the nostalgia factor.
The guy with the bandages on his face at the beginning of the game is Big Boss. The doctors in the hospital used plastic surgery and hypnotherapy to make the medic think that HE was the Boss
