So far so good. I’ve filled it twice and it’s great getting 13 gallons at one shot ru-vid.comUgkx-vlHjazTv30m_UAq9Ht-fuPo2jBx7tTx . It pumps out by using gravity so the bottom of the tank needs to be above the vessel you're filling. Not a drop spilled filling the generator three times. Let’s see where we’re at after 20 fills.

There's a couple of locking tabs in there to release and the parts slide right out, spout looks the same and the cap still screws on. I have 3 of the same cans and they work great after the spout repair with the added vent like John installed. You only need one vent but it works well either way.

Great video! Good old Amazon! I just ordered 6 new Midwest cans (Amazon of course) and new spouts as well ... (yup, Amazon again). The new spouts even came with new vents too! Btw, no such luck as to drill without some shavings getting inside! I guess we're all OCD to a point ... I fussed with myself forever figuring out where to place the vents, PLUS, I don't want ANY shavings inside either! Lol. Thnx for the video.

@@PatrickWagz that's pretty true. I got a little over 3 years out of mine. I used the steel ones with a rubber seal inside, and out. When the rubber dried out I replaced the flat rubber washers with a pair of fat neoprene on rings and they have held up for years with still no leaks. There's also a small rubber o ring inside the cap. I also replaced it with a neoprene of ring. It was actually the first seal to fail in just a few months

@@wildbill23c I got mine from Banggood. Picture this. I have a metal shop with concrete floor 13'x34'x11' high ceiling and a wood shop with wooden floor 14'x20'x8 high ceiling. On the coldest day this year for my area, -24'C, on a 10 litre container, I'd use maybe a 1/4 or 1/3 of fuel. That would keep BOTH shops heated at 14'C which is 30'C difference from inside and outside temps. Since it heats up a dry heat, it was never humid in the shops. I had bought the 8Kw but from what I hear, it's just a gimmick. They are just over pushing a 5Kw which is much cheaper in price. I installed it on the 6th of January this year and stopped it maybe 2 or 3 times before finally removing the heat for the season, in mid-April. Very good investment. If you don't over-fill your fuel cans, which is the reason to put that vent up as high as you can, I put mine in the middle of the back side of the handle on my 2 gallon can. Gas would run out the filler opening long before it would reach the vent. Even with fuel sloshing in the can I couldn't get mine to leak out of the vent...at least for now, who knows after a few years when all that stuff wears out.

I installed vents on six cans and only one has any seepage. A bit of gas tank sealant around the neck of the vent prior to installing will solve that if it's a concern.

I just use VP racing jugs but I guess if you're super cheap you could modify existing jugs. Wasn't worth dealing with them to me. They swell so much when hot, the plastic is crap,

The problem I have with fuel cans is the seal doesn't work when poring gas into filler neck they pour fuel around the cap and spout so I buy o rings to put on the spout stops the leak

Nice solution. Although I have to admit, I got distracted. I was watching around the 4:30 mark I seen something moving by the tire laying on the ground/shelf. I thought it was a leaf, then I replayed it and then it looked like it might of had a tail. I re-watched the same time frame a couple of times and keep changing my mind each time, is it a leaf or is it a critter?

I was at D&B supply yesterday and for $15 I picked up a fuel can spout and vent kit...the spout has 2 pieces so you can have a long or short spout depending on what you are filling up which for your tractor and cab would be great so you aren't hitting the side of the cab with the can as it empties out. These new fuel cans are pure garbage with those stupid epa nozzles, obviously the morons that thought of those things never have used one of them. Most fuel spilled has been from these new cans. I still have 3 of the old metal army "Jerry" cans that I use for my lawn equipment. The small cans I use for mixed fuel/oil for the 2 stroke equipment.

I think these style fuel cans are more about fumes from gasoline than anything else. Diesel doesn't vape off as bad as gas, but if they only changed the gas cans, everyone would just buy diesel cans for their gasoline. Jon, after 6 months of use, what do you think of the venting? Had any issues when them? Does the jug still hold up? Any splits in the plastic?

*I used this on my 2006 Troy Bilt Pony (MTD) tractor **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend it was an easy swap. It's very light aluminum and seems sturdy enough so far; I assume you really only need to replace the idle pulleys once so if these wear out anytime while I have the mower I'll update the reivew.*

Gravity made the debris fall down into the container. Invert the container when drilling. Wear eye protection as gravity will cause debris to fall towards you.

I have a plastic gas can that I store gas in it for 4-5 months only no longer than that. I noticed around 3 months my plastic gas can swells up do you think if I were to install these gas vents it would help with the can swelling? It is a brand new can I am using. Thank you Sir any info would help.

Did you buy your can from a government-owned store? Were you sent one by them? No, because the gov. doesn't own stores that sell them. You know you didn't get your can from the gov.
