From a performance at the Royal Festival Hall, 1997. Bass - Roberto Scandiuzzi Mezzo-soprano - Luciana D'Intino Philharmonia Orchestra & Chorus City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus Conductor - James Levine
We are singing this in my choir, tomorrow is our last performance. And wow...this is my favorite piece I've ever been involved in. The Mezzo part is my favorite.
I was in a performance of the Verdi Requiem at the Robinson Center Music Hall in Little Rock, Arkansas in the early 1980's. Several of the colleges around the state assembled together for the performance including mine (University of Arkansas at Monticello). This brings back such wonderful memories. To Dr. Mechell, our director, thanks for doing a tremendous job teaching the UAM Concert Choir!
Any chance there is more of this performance, I love to actually see the people play and sing instead of just listen. Fascinating piece! Thanks for posting it!
Officially, yes, this is not a "song". But if it sounds great, I wouldn't want to discourage anyone because they use the wrong terminology. We classical musicians can't afford that these days.
