Vergennes is the smallest city by population in Vermont. Otter Creek flows north through the town and into a waterfall we see at the end of the walk.
Vergennes is named for Frenchman Charles Gravier, comte de Vergennes (The Count of Vergennes) who aided the rebel colonial effort in the American Revolutionary War.
