That pop sounds SOOOO crisp!! Maybe try some rubber shock risers w it to absorb some vibration? I remember when I made the transition from old school boards to modern 'popsicle sticks' boards in the early 90's, I struggled at first w the weight difference badly at first but like any true skater I adapted and quickly realized how easier a lighter set up was. Cant say I miss the tiny wheels lol. As a crusty old over the hill has been, Id definitely try this out! Keep innovating and pushing the limits Bucky!

Have him build you a carbon board with integrated base plates so you can even get rid of the mounting hardware weight

Back in the day when I skated my ass off ( all through ‘70’s into early / mid 80’s ) whenever I switched to a new deck / truck / wheel combo , it would take me about a day or two to acclimate to the new setup . I do remember going from a good old G&S fiber flex deck to a Tom Simms “ Doug DeMontmorency “ deck was an eye opener . Those early all wood 10” wide decks with the Tracker X-track trucks were game changers . Now I’m 63-1/2 years old & still skate on occasion ( got a “ Shitbird “ deck with Indy trucks & Alva’s for wheels ) & can say without a doubt that since getting my first ever Skateboard at 7 years old up until now it’s something you get addicted to for sure . Kept me young , and limber compared to some of my friends who quit long ago . Thanks Bucky for sharing your latest here with us all , and Keep on Keeping on man 😎👍

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo many questions. . . . . . . . Wood has so many qualities, especially Maple that makes it unique for skateboards. I'm wondering how much better carbon fiber is for performance, how the torsional rigidity is different, how to carbon fiber baseplates work on a carbon fiber deck? I've been told carbon fiber on carbon fiber isn't good for durability. I've always known this is the future, but what would the cost increase be and would be that big of an advantage, not just for vert skating, but for street skating there's so many implications, especially when you have a deck that doesn't flex underfoot, landing a 12 stair ollie has some implications. . . . . Anyways, cool to see this finally hitting the mainstream, the carbon fiber techniques are so advanced now, seeing it in a skateboard is something else. EDIT: I play hockey with pretty advanced carbon fiber composite sticks. Be aware, there is a break in period and the carbon fiber will eventually start to break down and you will notice it. I'm wondering how fast that will happen with a skateboard vs. hockey stick.

I came for the skateboard content and wasn’t disappointed. By the way the carbon fibre board looks rad. Would making it a hair thinner make it a little more flexible

There is this finnish deck company called napalm custom which makes part maple part carbon fibre decks. 4 or 5 plys. Light but still durable and gets best thing from both, wood and carbon.

So sick. Probably so much that could be done playing around with the carbon layup to dial in the exact feel you want.

A half pound drop off of a deck is a BIG reduction in weight. Such a sick setup 🤘🤘

So sick for a prototype. I reckon if you dial down the rigidity and weight a little, it would set the benchmark for vert boards. Wondering if a replaceable adhesive protective barrier on the bottom could prolong the lifespan? Something like removable grip tape for the bottom, but carbon-like and low friction.

In the 80s I had a composite deck. I think it was an Uncle Wiggily. It had an thin aluminum panel sandwiched at the center.

Super sick Bucky. I would bet he could slim it down a bit more to shave more weight and possibly even get just a tad amount of flex out of the carbon fiber. I was always under the impression you wanted it to flex a bit to prevent it from breaking and its known for it extremely lightweight and strength. I've used it in snowboarding and auto industry but I'm no expert by any means. That is for sure an extremely cool deck I probably wouldn't have wanted to skate either as looked so nice.

Try adding a little bit of kevlar under the truck. Or incorporate it in the bottom flush to the deck bottom. Killer idea.

They nailed with the flight deck but i agree..the car fib is def high on cool factor..and looked killer with the grip..niiiiice..isnt flex important on a vert deck?...i havent skated vert since the early 90's and i think most boards back then were stiff so cant compare myself..beautiful back tail btw bucky

Maybe put some rubber between the deck and the trucks to stop the vibration and get that bit of bounce??board is crazy

To make it last longer I would use metal inserts to attach a wooden inlay on the nose and tail. Using thin ply like the Real wooden risers, Id set 5 ply about inch around the tips glued to 3 ply (like the risers) all across except the mounting block. Also have inserts for slide rails down the middle- All this would use tiny hex bolts. And wheel wells too. I'd hate to get bitten by a carbon fiber razor shark.

I dunno man, it reminds me of the old “slick bottom” decks when they were first released. Having not ridden that carbon deck, it seems to me that it would board/tail slide too fast? Also, I know you don’t really Ollie on vert, but with no flex do you lose the pop?

Damn. Get more of those made and give them out to those riders as “research”. What would the long term longevity. Especially for a pro class rider which those seemed most like.

Spray some red white and blue pearl in spots on the top of the deck then throw the sick star griptape on it would be fire 🇺🇲🙋‍♂️🇦🇺

I know that street skaters break boards all the time, but I never stopped to consider that vert skaters break or wear out a deck. Now I am curious. I want to know how often a vert skater needs a new deck? Sick board though. The grip tape job is preem. That needs to be a product that you sell.

Its literally a high performance board just like cars with carbon fiber they are lighter stiffer and i think if you got use ot it you would be able to do more and push your limits even further. its the future of skateboards it can easily be modified for dampening and vibration. but at the same time that vibration gives you a little more feel.

You could probably reduce the noise/vibes with some tpu printed material between the base plate and the board.

Thats funny ive been saying for a long time someone shpuld make a board like that, i use to do some work with f1 teams and aircraft composites. Glad someone did

Integrate baseplates with the deck. Have the kingpin accessible from the top. Titanium bolts are nothing but dead weight ;)

razor tail would be dangerous as hell on one of those decks😅. I feel bad for who ever has credit carded on one that had razor tail 😬 ( probably from a effin heel flip or hard flip) lol

Try a thin rubber gasket between the trucks and the deck.

Try having shock riders for the trucks maybe that would reduce some vibrations and for concrete bowls you could just slap on board rails but, the tail and nose idk.
