I love this division simply for being filled with so many different unique types of infantry for different scenarios, and it's cool to see a lot of kreigsmarine units as well as the Italians!

"Marò" (with the stress on the o) is the nickname for the Italian marine infantry, especially the Navy ones (the Army has its own marine unit). However, I don't know if the nickname was already in use back then, and if it was used only for the Navy. The Navy occupied Toulon in late 42, but I don't know if and how many marines would still be there in 1944, given what happened after the Armistice. A unit from the 3rd Marine Infantry Division "San Marco" of the Italian Social Republic was indeed sent to Toulon to help fight back the landing, and their uniform matches with this one in game (albeit I think the uniform colour was a little less bright in reality), but at that point I don't know if the nickname is accurate, since the San Marco Division belonged to the Army.

The tank turret bunkers do have a 360° firing arc and the scout car equipped with the 13 mm MG actually works as light AA gun - nice.

For anyone curious MEK was a Kriegsmarine special forces unit similar to the Italian MAS that would use frogman suits and small watercraft to get behind enemy lines in small teams. I haven't seen anything about them being in Toulon but since that was a big Kriegsmarine base which is why the division has so much KM units and Maro they could have been there too

Turning off the sniper for the MEK recons are all you need - once the tnt goes off the enemy is basically neutralized anyway

I hope they add a fw 190 with 2 13mm 2 20mm and 2 30mm. It would be quite slow but it would have so much firepower

I don't like the idea of mgs not working at 100m or less. Makes no sense. If anything they could nerf it by reducing accuracy (at 100m). Are you telling me that in a combat situation a soldier wouldn't use their weapons? C'mon Eugen!

It might be to represent that MGs would be harder to use at under 100m due to more accurate enemy fire and the need to keep repositioning if the enemy tries to bypass or surround the gun which they could do at that close of a range. I agree they could have done it better with less of a hard cap but at the same time I imagine a lot of MG teams would be ineffective/suppressed in close range combat. An automatic rifle would be much more able to fight since they could be fired like a rifle and moved easily

Lol also doesnt make sense that you can throw grenades 100m, but everyone would complain if anti tank grenades range were reduced down to 10m. So not too worried about the realistic applications of the weapons.

@@EnSayne987 That's not true for LMG. The whole design of the MG-42 was so it can rip enemy off even at close range

New words: MEK (Marine Einsatzkommando) = marine commandos Boot Besatzung = boat crew Küstenpolizei (who’s pronounciation Vulcan just butchered) = costal police Brandenburger just means people from Brandenburg

Brandenburger is the name of the special forces Brandenburger regiment, aka skorzeny and so forth

@@HarrDarr skorzeny was part of the SS-Jagdverbände, Division Brandenburg was part of the Wehrmacht. The Division Brandenburg was reformed from special operations to regular around 43 and Skorzenys SS-Jäger-Bataillon 502 was formed for these kind of missions.

@@HarrDarr They were a special forces unit (until Sept 1944 when they were reorganized as a conventional infantry unit - an army on the defensive has much less need for special operations forces), but Otto Skorzeny was not one of them, he was Waffen SS (and thus not a Brandenburger)

The ML-20 is also apparently quite good on dispersion (hidden stats, blarg). Makes it perform very well in general. IDK what the dispersion is on the other stuff and how it compares though, but they're probably worse.

It also has for some reasons a much lower firing trajectory compared to other artillery pieces resulting in a much faster time on target. Another one of those "fun" hidden stats

Those Jugoslavian guns are in fact all Czechoslovakian, all made by Skoda factory in Pilsen (or Plzeň in Czech) sold to the Jugaoslavian army and then captured by Germans and designeted with (j) for jugoslavian

And still Eugen fails to account for the existence of pistols...But this is a nice division nevertheless. Maybe we'll even see an actual full Italian unit one of these days...

Eugen has a policy that they never fix their models because long ago somebody repeatedly complained about the models being incorrect in Wargame (which they were and since they don't fix models, still are today, ex. Finnish T-72 has its turret pushed back awkwardly, T-80 model is poor, T-72B has a manhole cover for a drivers hatch.) I don't exactly blame them as you rarely look at the models up close during gameplay, but it would be nice for quality of life.

@@F22onblockland Except Eugen has frequently fixed SD2 models over the game's lifecycle - most recently, they changed the Hungarian infantry's helmets to a more accurate model.

It's a modifier that makes the unit take 50% more suppression. It represents units that were lower in morale, or unwilling to fight.

100m range limit, WTF. Scenario: Usian Bolt hates me and wants to kill me. He starts charging at me from the blocks, I have my Gimpy. I was good with a gimpy and have roughly 9 seconds to kill him. I say easy peasy, lemon squeezy. Eugen says nul points😳🤔🥴. I think they are getting MG's and maybe cruise missiles confused🙄
