That really is excellent work. The use of old wood for all of the replacement parts means that it still looks like a restored old wheelbarrow when you're done, rather than a new copy. I am quite impressed!
I've watched a dozen or so of these restorations from LADB and I just now realized this is a father/son operation (I think) which makes me love this channel even more!
There's something very refreshing about your restoration videos, maybe it's the pacing, the fact that you do so much of the work outdoors... It's just very relaxing and enjoyable.
I tip my hat to you both. You have always saved a piece for the brink of ruin and yet kept it old. Your Restoration Skills are Amazing. Saving old parts when and where ever you can.. Also Avril give the projects the final approval.. Peace
I really like the sympathetic restoration you did on this, utilising any pieces you could reuse, and remaking those you couldn't. I especially loved the way the cat 🐈 supervised the entire project, giving it the final "meow" of approval at the end of the video.
Nothing else to add to the comments below. Just WOW. I am a car guy and have always preferred watching metal fab but you have opened my eyes. The way you salvage as much as you can, while preserving as much of the original, is time consuming and impressive. I lost my job a month ago and it's channels like yours that are keeping me "sane" during these insane times. New sub and a like from Tulsa, OK USA.
Pete Peterson my cat, Mafia was one of the stars of this video, he is now pissed at not receiving credit for his appearance and now now negotiating a contract with other neighborhood cats , be afraid and do not feed any strays, they may be infiltrators!
As always, I check on the cativity, so here are some timestamps: 0:26 Inspector Gadge... I mean Avril, reporting: "This one needs restoring." 1:13 Orange assistant checking in the background (left side, out of focus but fluffy anyway) 9:42 Just a little fluffy tail 9:47 Now it's all in 9:52 Fluffy ear 16:52 Guardian time, for Fluffy orange assistant, Avril 18:12 Helping feline, holding down the wood planks, probably, or just chilling 19:59 Kitty boss checking on the work 22:18 Avril trying out the new ride May have missed some moments, but I hope these are plenty. There are a bit too few feline moments for a cat video... *checking the channel*... Ahem, right, nice restoration, all that wood working is great 😅
WHEELBARROW RESTORATION I must say you did a amazing job on that old broken down wheelbarrow. It looks just beautiful, and I see that the cat approves of it to when he got into it. You really are very good at bringing life back to the old broken down wheelbarrow. Most people would look at it and say well have to buy a new one. Keep up the good work. MissKat in California
It seemed like a majority of your work here was in replacing dry rotted wood. you used several methods of repair and replacement, all beautifully done. It definitely added some character, and strength as well, to a work that already had plenty of both. Excellent, as usual!
Oh, this is so inspiring! Over the years I got rid of most of my wood-working equipment and tools, and now I wish I had them. Living where I was, I thought they would never be needed. Now, I've moved to a half acre in a tiny community in Canada where I'm there's a need for minor carpentry, using what I have left. Last fall, for a 'mother's day' gift, I bought myself a cordless "drill/impact driver set - on sale. How did I ever do without it? Thank you for the incentive. I never would have imagined one could restore a such a dilapidated implement. To watch a master is such a pleasure.
Прошу Вас - сделайте видео о всех предметах, которые Вы реставрируете. Было бы интересно побывать у Вас на экскурсии, хотя бы и виртуальной. Мне очень понравилось это видео и эта реставрация. Привет из Сибири, Россия.
This is _so_ impressive; what seems a simple, basic construction reveals so many refined touches that must have come from generations of experience. Were these used in a vineyard? (I would have used antifreeze with borax as an antifungal and insecticidal treatment, but you are the guys doing the work, and we are mere cheering from the sidelines. _Magnifique_ !
Not only does this make my restoration heart happy, I’m also very pleased when you are able to repurpose some of the original wood and used some wood from a nearby branch as well. You guys are brilliant.
I watch a lot of restoration videos, but honestly haven't seen anyone do something similar yet since most of them work with metal and mechanics. When I read the title I expected you to just basically build a new one out of new wood, especially when I saw the condition the old one was in. Did not expect you to safe the old wood and combine it with other old wood. Gitta say, great job, hope to see more of your work in the future
Love your talent. Also, I have had only one cat in my life and it was an orange tabby. She found me and was starved. I think her owner had died and family didn't care. She was the sweetest and most loving pet I have ever had. Never did even one thing wrong. She just wanted hugs and kisses all day. She developed kidney disease. I will never forget her and will love her forever.
Bonita restauración, me encanta el trabajo creativo. Que no se pierda la maestría de restaurar, es una forma de conservar una cultura. Saludos desde Istan.
I don't do well in fractions you make it look so easy I like the way you show us how to work with wood you make it look so easy again I love your cat a v r i l I like the way he gets into your work I have a dog named scoot he's a poodle just because I don't push the like button doesn't mean I didn't like your videos I like all your videos enjoy watching you work you do a fantastic job
I've got to say how pleasant it is to hear the sound as it happens. I watch so many videos with the volume muted due to their choices in music. Love this video!!
Beautiful. Love those old wooden wheelbarrows. It's so nice to see someone showing us that broken things still have value and can be repaired and restored. Great video.
I loved the restoration using old weathered wood instead of new pieces. What really sets it off at the end is your cat. I feel like it should read "Avril inspected, Avril approved,"
А нахрена ...извините задействовать старые материалы ( практически сгнившие ) полностью из свежих материалов да по старым шаблонам ....если только в музей ....
I have a wooden wheelbarrow exactly the same as that. Made by my late wife to help build her first home back in the 1970's. She was born in the Netherlands, came to Australia as a young girl with her parents and told me it was a typical style over there......
So impressed with another labor of love. Was guessing Father or Son by the smoothness of the hands. Looks like Avril has a permanent loving smudge from Dad.
I have an antique iron wheel similar to the one in this video. I also have some old lumber I was saving to reclaim that I had no plans for. Now I know what to do with them.
Great restoration !! Such a neat little wheelbarrow ! Time , patience, persistence , definitely paid off in the end ! Great to see all the ways you used to put it back togather ! Your videos are wonderfull and your work is superb GREAT JOB !!! KEEP IT UP !👍👍
Glad to see you taking advantage of the ever-important Cat Scan, lol. I loved this video - I could almost smell the wood shavings and sawdust, one of my favorite natural fragrances in the world. What a magnificent job you did; thanks so much for sharing this!
Felicitaciones ,a éste señor , Dios siga bendiciendo con esas manos prodigiosas , claro se le respeta , por qué tiene , mucha herramienta , pero me fascinó.Un saludo desde Bogotá ,Colombia
My first idea with an object that came in this state would be "collect the hardware and burn it down" and make it new... Luckily there are guys like you, that can rescue most of it, just great! Thx for the vid! :-D
I kept trying to make a tea but had to keep reboiling the water because I couldn't take my eyes off of what you were doing. You did an amazing job of restoring something very precious. I could watch you work all day.
Wow! That was such a great transformation! Wormy old boards that needed so much work to make useable again! Carpentry is such an amazing skill. Nice video. Thank you!
@@markwilliammandigers1001 They had, but LADB could have used a left-hand threading die (easily purchased on Internet) or re-threaded the nuts to normal right-hand thread (but that would not have kept the nuts genuine). I´m very much for keeping old stuff as genuine as possible, without taking away the original roughness of the material and the patina received from many years of use. I also believe that such an approach heightens the value of the restored item.
In a wretched world where destruction is gaining popularity because all it takes is just one fatal blow to destroy something and hardly any labour at all, you are teaching the invaluable lesson of salvage and restoration through good old toiling and hard labour done with a lot of patience and affection for the thing being restored the fruits of which are visible in the end. Thank you indeed for these invaluable lessons.
This seems like an overly complex design for a wheelbarrow. I love how you don't waste anything that has even a little bit of integrity left! We are lucky to live in a time with modern glue and screws for sure!
