I have had pizza in Brazil. They had what they called pizza california and it had figs and tuna on it. But my favorite was the pizza carbonara, phenomenal. Dessert pizza with dolce de leite, a must have. Hearts of palm a must, yes!
Been going there for years! They are awesome! You should have had the Guarana soda with it! Then it would've been a full Brazilian experience! Fork and knife is a must, though.
Community fridge! I love the concept. I love it when communities create their ways of giving back putting their on stamp on showing their hearts and dignity.

I'm and old Newark boy 71 yrs old now,attended East Side H. S. the ironbound section has plenty of eateries, fish markets and bakeries. Man when I come home that's one trip to make.
I want to try this pizza sometimes. I also like the idea of a community refrigerator. I am going to bring that up with my local city council and mayor. I think that is something that we could benefit from.
1: In Brazil we do eat pizza with fork and knives 2: We like to add olive oil on top of the pizza too (some places like Rio de Janeiro they prefer ketchup though, yuk) 3: In Brazil a pizzeria using a industrial oven would bankrupt in weeks, we do like pizzas on Brick/Clay ovens using charcoal 4: The most eaten pizza here is the Calabresa Sausage Pizza 5: Every pizza flavor comes with olives.
@@Gabrielnobre Was made an audit years ago on the whole Brazil on the biggest pizzerias asking what were the most eaten toppings and calabresa had won, you just need to google it.
@@Stronghart I did google it and guess what? Portuguesa number one, I quote: "Em primeiro lugar está a pizza de portuguesa; ocupando o segundo lugar, está o sabor de frango com Catupiry; e, na terceira posição, está a pizza de calabresa."
I checked this place out after seeing this vid. Got the number 6-- mozzarella and bacon. It was bangin'! Will definitely try different pies. They definitely don't skimp on the cheese.
Ironbound has incredible food worked in that area for 5 years and loved all the various food options! Definitely check out No Pao & Wilson Ave BBQ both very close to each other and pretty close to Brazilian Pizza as well. No Pao has excellent sandwiches and the BBQ at Wilson Ave is some of the best in Newark imo. Keep up the good work you’re killing it man! 💯
Omg when he took a bite and that cheese stretched, I felt like I could taste it! Almost gave me chills. Lol I wasn't sure when I saw the toppings, but afterwards, I'd definitely try this unique pizza
JL ... I was surprised you were able to eat more than one slice 7:30 . BTW ... You ARE allowed to use a knife and fork on pizza 7:44 when its so full of toppings that you can't pick it up. Of course you took home a to-go box 10:40 . Ironbound is a hidden foody's paradise that very few outside of Newark know about. Loaded with Spanish, Portuguese and Brazilian restaurants. And you don't need a car to get there. (In fact, if you do bring a car, nowhere to park it.) Just take the train up from Philly, get off at Newark Penn Station, walk out the east side of the station, and you're in Ironbound. Just walk down Ferry St. EVERY restaurant is good.
mannn ironbound is THE place to go when your in newark. the best Brazilian BBQ is brasilia grill or the taste of brazil!! both places are amazing and should def be checked out.

I was hoping you’d visit Iron Bound at some point. You’ve gotta check out Sol Mar!! Some of the best Portuguese food in Newark. I live in Florida now, but originally from Jersey. Iron Bound was one of my old haunts. Makes me miss home. Thank you for this video, JL.

I know toppings are popular. I do enjoy some. My favorite are anchovies NYC style. So that's where I am with pizza as a native New Yorker, anchovies, or good old style, old school NYC pizza from the little pizza shop in Brooklyn or Greenwich Village. But this does look like pizza worth trying.
A community fridge. Surprised it wasn’t empty. Showing folks are mindful of each other. So Krug’s closed and Brazilian pizza spur of the moment. Nice. Never had egg on pizza. Omg. That cheese is 😮. Like that the chicken was finely shredded. With that amount of cheese I’m figuring 2 maybe 3 slices and you’re stuffed😂. Ha. You had to use that fork. You said it was a medium then you said a small but figure 2-3 ppl re:all that cheese 🧀. Great unexpected find. Thanks for sharing.
In this taste (Chicken with Catupiry cream cheese) usually they don't put eggs (I don't like it too much because as you noticed it fills you up with few slices, if I eat 2 I get full LOL). But in the "Portuguese" taste (one of the most popular, my favorite, inspired in the Portuguese cuisine, with onions, eggs, black olives, etc) we do have it and it is AMAZING!
No matter how high tech we live... Cuisine is stiill the most important thing in our lives. Cooking and make people so happy, this is a true Love thing!
Have always enjoyed various versions of Brazilian pizza, always enjoyed the thin crust pizzas with a generous portion of creamy requeijão (a Brazilian cheese) the most. Regardless, give this man a feed bag and lessons on table manners.
Walk 2 blocks past Penn Station and on your right you'll see FORNOS , Spanish restaurant. Outstanding food! There are many blocks to go and you're in food heaven 😂 !😅
Not in ironbound but in Newark.. its called sigri bbq :)) 5 mins away from ironbound.. soooooo good! basmati rice, chicken tikka, Caribbean sauce, mango chutney, cabbage salad.. thank me later
JL I live in Newark, and the truth is no one is trying to send you to Vonda's kitchen because we are not trying to make it anymore popular than it is. I need my shrimp and grits. But she's the truth. 😅
There are tons of great spots in the Ironbound but two standouts are Casa de Paco for tapas and the famous X-tudo (pronounced cheesetudo) that sets up on Friday and Saturday nights near Penn Station. Not sure how it is now but back in the day there would be over an hour wait even at 4am in the middle of winter. It's been copied all over Newark but that's the original.
Yep, we use the silver here because our pizza if full of toppings and the dough can’t handle LOL That’s why you will always get a knife and fork in a “Pizzaria”.
