There’s an old adage for flying an airplane, and that’s: you have to fly in front of the plane, meaning you need to know what the plane’s going to do before the plane knows what’s going to happen. In that, the procedures for fail safe may be a blessing, because even though you’re no longer in control of the plane, you’re still in control to some extent, and you’ve planned ahead for it. The best of both worlds. Thank much for sharing your knowledge with us! Side note: had we grown up near one another, you would have undoubtedly been a member of our crew, and your nickname would have been: Dude. Sayin. ‪Peace ✌🏻

Hey! A little note to the dBm vs dB. In the video, whenever you say dBm thinking about a ratio, you should have said dB. In order to amplify a signal 2 times you would use 3dB amplifier, not 3dBm. similarly, if a transmitter outputs 10dBm of power and you're receiving -60dBm this means there is 70dB loss. Basically you can add and subtract dB and dBm in one equasion, dBm would represent the absolute power and dB the gains and losses (see: link budget). 10dBm + 3dB = 13dBm -30dBm - 100dB + 10dB = -120dBm Anyway, great video as usual :) I will take this opportunity to thank you for the great work you put into this channel, I've learned a lot about RC power systems from your videos. I often use them as a reference when discussing with others about myths and misconceptions in the RC world. You're a great teacher, keep it up!

Not much on the market for open source controllers and many options for DIY. 0dBm is the reference. There are lot of ways to improve SINAD. Back in the day's 80km could easy be achieved as very little noise was on the ISM spectrum. Two other factors you left out is the robust ability of modulation type and bandwidth of the signal including Mbps vs distance. Personally I would just use the Cellular network or private lic LMR repeaters along with Gyroscope, GPS auto correct for drones.
