Excellent video! Those bells are very worn out but it's probably the speaker that's stuffed in them so if Yarra Trams replaces the speakers in them then they should be good for another 10 years or so.
I'm not sure if it's just the speaker that's the problem, as the entire sound clip speeds up and seems to occasionally change slightly in pitch (leading me to believe it's a soundboard issue). I'm sure it can be repaired though. One of the bells at Ingles St , Port Melbourne sounded awful like this a few years ago, but then Yarra Trams repaired it and now it sounds good as new. Also, the Type 1 at Swallow St stopped working for at least 3 months last year, but now it's running fine and sounds very healthy. Yarra Trams seem to be very good at bringing these bells back to life!
@@maxstrainsfanssmash687 They certainly could. Either that or the parts are still commercially available elsewhere. At least they can be repaired and not just tossed away and replaced like the GS and Safetran E-Bells.
