I’m fascinated with how beavers can help with watersheds and prevent floods but also the damages they can do. They are protected here as the national symbol next to the maple leaf. I’ve seen how they can prevent drought conditions in some places so they have usefulness.

Hello Mantas. Yes the beavers do not use old sticks from the pile. It is because they can not reach or pull. They use the sticks from the water. Wood floats. It is not so heavy. The beavers have more power to pull in the water. The sticks are structure for the dam. The mud strengthens the structure and prevents the water from flowing. In Ontario, Canada. We burn the sticks in the winter with a control fire pit burn. Plus the fire keeps use dry and warm. Where we can not burn we use a Chipper shredder machine to eliminate the dead stick pile. Each country and location is different. The dry sticks become a fire hazard in the summer heat. The beavers require the water to move around quickly. They are not as mobile on land. You are doing a wonderful job taking care of the water systems. Keep up the great videos. I really enjoy them.

I am in Canada, a senior citizen now and have removed hundreds maybe into the thousands of beaver dams over the years. Over the years most dams removed by dismantling by hand and a spade nosed shovel. I removed because of flooding like you and also for years I supplied minnows to fishing stores and would need to keep beaver pond levels low to catch the minnows. I think Canada has more beavers then any other country !!

Hi @Kenislovas, I watch to watch the water drain down and also I find beaver engineering so cool, they obviously use the water to move massive loads compared to their own size, but they also obviously have a proven technique for dam building and I find it fascinating.

Good one. It's interesting to see the impact of the removal of each stick. Sometimes the smaller ones have more impact than the big ones. It seems to me that you are more likely to have a rollover when you clear the base of the dam and maintain the minimum flow as long as possible.

I originally started watching from curiosity. Then it was to see a collapse. Now, I am astonished at the engineering ability of the beavers to construct such a magnificent blockage to water. I watch your videos because it's nice to see a job well done. You work very hard and make sure the canal is clear. The farmers need those channels open to protect the fields so it's gratifying to see you helping them. It's relaxing. The sound of the water and how it looks as it cascades over the dam is very calming. It's also kind of fun to guess which part you'll do next and to see how it comes apart. The collapse is fun and it's neat how you plan it out. The different camera angles make it more interesting to see the different views. Lastly, I am Lithuanian on my Dad's side. He was born here (US) and I never knew my grandparents so sadly I know very little about the old country. He's been gone for many years as well. No family stories on that side so it's nice to see the country and hear you speak. I wish I'd been born sooner to learn more of my family's history. Tell your friends that the internet is full of stupid, selfish, self-centered people doing outrageous things to get attention. I also used to look at "post 10". He unclogg pipes and culverts done by beavers to protect roads from erosion. He ones sad the same. Beavers do usually not reuse sticks or branshes that lies on land because they think it is something wrong with them. He also said that when they rebuild they make it stronger each time because they belive the current build was too weak. Good luck with your work!

Why I look at your videos and others about unclogging beaverdams, is because it is a speciell feeling to see stopped water beiing released and flowing again. He who has "post 10" I wrote about before do sometimes filming at night with a speciell camera where we can see beavers rebuild and clogg the pipes again. Very interesting to see that.

I started watching the removal of big concrete Dams in the USA and enjoyed the return to a natural river - but watching beaver Dam's being torn down and the water getting set free is quite satisfying

I Think YOU SHOULD Get a wood chipper, to get rid of the wood, not reused by the Beavers. The Beavers WON'T reuse the wood, for to them, it didn't keep the Dam in place.

The reason I watch is because it's so nice to see you helping fellow countrymen to help alleviate flooded farmland and to also learn about a country that doesn't get a lot of publicity and the drone shots showing your countryside and see the end results is satisfying to an retired man with time on his hands. I worked for 45 years and your hard work reminds me of a younger me.

I find your videos very relaxing except when the anticipation of a collapse is involved. I have learned from you to watch for the bubbles to know when it's getting close. Also, I've never been this close to a beaver dam. We have them near where I live but I only remember going to see the dens as a child. I appreciate that you do your greeting at the beginning and then let us hear the changes in the sound of the water etc. and don't chatter over everything. Getting to see your part of the world with the drone is great! Such a beautiful area! I had fun going along on your mushroom hunt in the rain too! Good Question. "Why am I watching". I No longer live on the farm or in the country. I live in the big city now. I Use take my canoe and travel on the water from beaver dam to beaver dam. In Ontario, Canada North. The beaver population is controlled by the Lands and forest people (Government agency). They control the water systems. Beaver dams and beaver population. If the water levels get too high. OR. Too many trees are destroyed in the forest. The Government people will relocate the beaver family to a new location. If there is property damage or land issues. The beavers will be destroyed. You have to be a licensed trapper to do this. Hunters are allowed to shoot small game. They also require a license for small game only. Beavers can create a lot of property damage if not controlled. By watching your videos. I am reminded of walking through the woods. Being in nature. Then you work on the dams by hand. I did this for exercise. I set down the chain saw and tools. Then I would work by hand. It was great satisfaction. We only cut down dead trees and cleaned up the mess. Do not swim in the beaver pond in the summer. Yuck it is dirty. Plus leaches. Since Beaver Dam videos have become popular. For fun I watch the USA explode beaver dams using explosives. I like watching the crazy people get stuck using machines to break dams. It is more calming to watch the way you do it. It is more relaxing. As you work and explain to us, the viewer, what challenges you have in Lithuania. It is nice to hear the water flow. It is exciting to see the dam collapse. We get to witness the power of water and nature's force. Plus you show us your location with the drone. You put very nice music to the video. So I get to share a journey without leaving my country. You're right, beavers won't reuse the trees limbs/branches that you remove. They consider the logs defective because their dam broke..., only out desperation will they reuse them. There are some cage traps used for relocation of beavers to where they can benefit the area. Some hunters can catches beavers for food... I like seeing since you're providing a service for the farmer's fields.... keep on doing this.😎

The strongest part of a beaver is it's jaws..It's jaws have the strength of a steal trap and can break a human bone. They are not stupid. They use the water to transport the trees they fell and all they have to do is steer it the way they want it to go, like a person steering a raft.

Might not be the biggest dam you ever tackled, but that is a helluva lot of water behind it! They make traps that instant kill beavers but I dont know if theyre legal in your country. My grandfather took me on many beaver trap sets when I was younger and he always used the full body trap because he didnt like the idea of them suffering either. That was dam intriguing! Not much grass in that dam. Some of those logs were 3 - 4 meters long, some 100mm in diameter. Unusual how the dams base was such large wood, and the blockage was done with smaller twigs, leaves, and mud. No way was that dam going to collapse like the grass dams. Good removal job on this one.🤔👽👽👽🤨

As an explosives expert i have watched some videos of blasting beaver Dams with tannerite and dynamite… Only making a dent into the Dam - The effort it takes and the paperwork for permits🤣 What you Can do in 15 minutes! Would Take hours in procedure and loading up a DAMn🤷🏼‍♂️ The structure of branches rocks and mudd - Is a stranger in the books of blasting!!! I Totally Love the colapse videos! Very satisfying!!! Well as an explosives expert! That Dam would Take at least 10kilo dynamite! To clear it all! I would need Nonel/Exel system to fire up the charges… Because electrical system and water is a no go🤷🏼‍♂️ you would have plastictubes in the Nature afterwards… Would be fun and a great video🤣 But What you Can do in 15min is like a kilo of dynamite!
