I finally got over the pockets thing, but I always avoid walking on grass, with out thinking about it. I even catch myself looking at grass walker like "Who the fuck do they think they are".
I still take my hat off when indoors, and glare at others who keep it on, and always feel naked going outside with no headgear. And the hands in pocket thing too. Been out a year. Going back in today. Reporting for the first time again in about 3 hours.
Been out 2 months. Still wake up sometimes now wonderin if im just on leave... kinda scary lol. Then i go smoke a fat bowl (legal state) and the smile comes in full fledge.... fuck it 😂
Know the feeling ....fuck that grow the whole thing u be by looking around the first couple of days feel like a kid laughing by yourself when he do something bad😄😄😄
Out for 11 now but I still remember ETS +1: a Tuesday. Woke up at 0430 because brain said so. Went back to sleep anyway until 0700. Got up, walked down to the corner in civvy sweats to get a paper. Came home, made coffee, toast, steak & eggs, and took 2 full hours to eat breakfast while reading the paper. Felt like I was doing something wrong the whole time.
+Demon2Zero ... Ahahahaha, Yeah! Ohhhhh, my goodness! You had "Hollywood Breakfast!" I thought I was the only one. Mannnn, I've been out 6 years and still feel like I'm wasting time ... "moving like pond water" ... sometimes, I miss the camaraderie of nonsense combined with the BS of accomplishing some mission that always changes before we finish.
I lost it when it got to the walking on the grass part. I couldn't walk on grass for years after I got out. In fact, I even held that standard to my kids. They were always baffled when I told them to stay off the grass when we were Trick or Treating. I finally released my phobia when I bought my first house.
I have been out 8 years, still: wear/remove cover min. 15 min. early not walk on grass no hands in pockets walk on someone's left say fuck in almost every sentence
It's been 14 years for me(OIF 1st push 2003-2005, Basra & Baghdad), and I STILL do these things. Plus either ALWAYS up at 0430, stay up for 20 hrs. and sleep for 3.5 hrs. And some days I'll do sleep dep for 36 hrs. Sad. Mind you, I'm a sailor.
+combatjm89 "Latrine" .... Still find myself at a half assed "Parade Rest" "Rest" in line, i'm glad it's not just me, as I see guys at my VA doing the same thing. 00-06 SAPPER (ret)
I still struggle with hand in pockets sometimes, I still stop walking when I answer the phone even while at the store. I feel like an ass haha. I don't walk on the grass still unless its meant to be walked on like a park or something. Radio chat still very military style. I respond "kill" sometimes in place of "ok" still.. Get weird ass looks.
My personal favorite part about getting out os being accused of stolen valor by boots who will never deploy, yet rock operators hats while on leave. I'm in the double dogits in only 5 years.
I didnt serve for the states but I did 2 years in a foreign military and I can relate to this. I still wake up at 0600 every morning, never put my hands in my pocket, hell I even walk with my hands in fist like im marching. Good habit I picked up from the army is that I never sleep in class, I always arrive on time.
Laughed so hard at the hands in the pockets part hahaha. Even after getting out I still do the exact same thing every time at work down to the little voice in my head and the "F*** it!" Lol
In 2003 when I left the U.S. Navy I just suppressed every thing military I could just to attain a job because the stigma is if you're a combat veteran you're not safe to have as an employee now it may be a little different but I wouldn't know.
Spider Mcgavenport I joined Marines in 1967 went to VN got 20 days leave 5 day travel, home for 4 days and went back and didn't come home for 10 Years. Every time I walk out my front door can't explain it but I'm still walking point .
I like when this guy went on social media deleting everyone that said that soldier in the el paso shoot was not a hero. To actually find out he was not and he went AWOL
You really should do a crowd funding and make a full length show with all your videos to run seamlessly into one another. I would donate. You are super talented.
Bro. as soon as you zipped up your coat all the way to the top in my mind I heard some un-named Sgt. yelling "All the way on or all the way off". and then "Take you hands out of those Air Force Gloves" hahaha love it!
+Joel depending on what rate he had within the military he will most likely be able to get a pretty nice job; also it depends on what kind of discharge he received. If he gotten a dishonorable discharge he's screwed for life; not even McDonald's would hire him.
I went from active to reserves. First day at the unit. "Is there any way you can put me back on active?" Some fucking Pvt. Asked me why. I told him "this shit fucking sucks" right in front of the Msg lol
Hey A combat veteran I really love your videos man i'm a 11x recruit heading to Ft Benning soon wondering if you had any tips for basic. I also got my recruiter hooked on your channel too he's an ex 11b likes your vids thanks man
@@elijahseabrooks3774 Well, let's count: he does, the military does, his family does, his friends do, his doctor does, his tax man does... The list goes on
Wow. I just realized my dad does that hands in pocket thing. I've always known that you can't do that in the military, but I just now realized that after my dad went in I have never EVER seen my dad with his hands in his pockets, he's been out almost 8 years!
First day out. 0400 woke up. Staring at the ceiling. Looked around and realized I was home. Got up made coffee, some eggs and powered my computer to get some jobs applications applied. Then the rest of the day I was staring at the wall, ceiling, then the sleepless nights came and went. It's mentally challenging.
Haha! Did a similar thing in the gym yesterday. Guy was working out in an Army PT shirt, not that big of a deal but also doesn't mean he served. Then I noted his Green Leader's book. Helped him derack his bench. He prolly thought I was gonna hit on him until he saw my Leader's book. Only a look of approval was exchanged.
so relatable. although i'm not a vet. just a soldier on civie street. i always hesitate to put my hands in my jacket, criticise passersby in my head and i always look for a smoke pit whenever i want to smoke.
So weird to watch because I watched a Drip46 video where he talked about what he's doing after the Army and he used the same music. After this video, I now imediately associate this music with leaving the Army lol.
FREEDOM Until you realize the rent in NYC, then you realize why everyone is so pissed in NYC paying 1500 a month for a depressing 400 square foot studio... ARRRGGGGG
I'd kill to see a video where a member from every branch just sits around and talks shit to each other for a couple minutes. I feel like you'd make it hilarious
