Were people easier to scare in the '80s? We think YES. Each scare followed by lots of slow running through unreasonably long chase scenes.
Well, if you're into that sorta thing, Richard Ryan is BACK with our second Halloween Vets React of 2020! Today he's bringing on former USAF TACP Jarred Taylor and former Marine Jack Mandaville to hit up some Halloween classics... yes, including the actual Halloween movie itself.

If I remember right all the 80s horror were r rated because of language and sexual nature plus gore. So they forgot to put Jason in there. That had alot of Boobies in that movie.

By The Thing, the original, I guess you mean 1982 not 1951. Personally, I'd like to see these guys react to both, as well as other 1950s monster movies ("Tarantula" 1955, "Fiend Without A Face" 1958).

I remember many years ago I stopped at a service station to get a drink while on duty. At the pump, I saw an elderly gentleman who had a purple heart Pennsylvania tag with a plate holder that said Pearl Harbor Survivor. I approached him and said, “Sir, I thank you for your service.” He looked at me and replied, “I want to thank you for keeping us all safe.” I’ll never forget that moment talking with a man who had served during the Greatest Generation. One of the many reasons, I won’t insult our flag or our veterans by not standing at attention when The National Anthem is played. The men and women who served our country are my inspiration and not a bunch of rich playboys who know nothing of what a true hero looks like.

Beetelegeuse was a great movie. I don't see it as a horror movie at all, something unlike any other movie, but definitely a comedy. New movies seem like all green screen stuff and CGI special effects. I miss the real effects and I think the actors find it easier to "act" with actual sets and other characters in the scene

From a film making standpoint, that's still one of the most impressive movies when it comes to the pace of the gags and bits. It's hilarious and really had a lot of tongue in cheek references to the horror movie genre of the time, while making the overused cliche's the target of the joke. Its definitely a classic!

Ah remember the 80s & 90s pleated mom jeans!! When jeans covered the kidneys. Let's take a moment to be thankful for how low cut they are now and how good they look. "Just look behind the bush" was the theme for all of 1970s. Jack why does the tracking jump so bad only in the boob scene? Pre DVD when you would wear the tape section out lmao.

Re someone for your program, my town has a WWII MOH veteran who will turn 101 in December, he's sharp as a tack and still writes a weekly newspaper column. Would love to see Black Rifle acknowledge him in some way. This is about 55 miles north of Frank D. Merrell base in the north Georgia mountains.

One of my favourite stories from Nightmare on Elm street is When Robert Englund the actor who plays Freddy Kruger was contacted by the parents of a young girl who's "Loving" brother had shown her the movie and she was so freaked out that she wouldn't go to sleep. That he flew them out to Hollywood took the girl to the film studio and let her watch him get put on the costume and have all the makeup applied so she knew it wasn't real.

Our boiler room could be scary, it was 2 stories tall underground with 2 giant boilers and under the school was many tons of "Civil Defense" supplies. It had many large concreate supports for Freddy to hide behind.

My best friends dad was the janitor so he let us hang out in the boiler room. Your videos are dam funny and the coffee hits my spot, almost like in the Navy.

Yes, it was rated R. Wes Craven innovated this concept of being attached in your mind. before that, it was slashers. Jason, Michael Myers. And yes, it was Johnny Depp's first main role.

During the elm street scenes they actually built an entire room upside down for Nancy and Johnny Depps character and when Depps character died the room tilted and the fake blood actually tilted the room and they kept it in because they thought it was scarier

I'm somewhat in agreement with StabbyJoe135, though without the second line of criticism. Music reactions wouldn't be as fiitting for this format, or even the official videos, or fan creations. Just isn't something that works fantastically here. It'd be kinda interesting to have them talk to Sabaton and talk to them about their take on things and so on, but I don't think it does so well otherwise.

@Urbexx Jeremy There music is certainly excellent, but I think there is something reasonable in that music falls outside the scope of this series. I can't recall them doing anything that's entirely audio. Just doesn't exist.

Fun fact, the blood fountain from the mattress scene was actually done by having the entire set on a rig and spun 180 degrees and filming the blood falling from the bed.
